Academy Follies

  • Kentech can’t turn the files over fast enough to HR and even after that they still need to be completed by an investigator. It’s a total scam this hiring process. 30 something investigators up on the 4th floor can not keep up with the HR director and Rhams demands. It should be out sourced to an outside company and completely eliminate the liability on the department. They just put a candidate in that had a battery to PO arrest, sued the city all just to put bodies in the academy per the civilian HR director. Give it a few years, this department will be swimming in federal lawsuits because of what they are doing at HR.
We didn't realize when Rahm wanted a "more diverse" department, he was talking about hiring criminals.

They turn down every non white male they can because of orders from above. This is equality and how it needs to be, politically. One guy with a 550 credit score gets pushed through and the other guy with a 700 plus gets eliminated based on debt ratio. This is a class action that's going to squeeze the city tax payers out of more money. Welcome to your sanctuary city. Thanks 9.5.

If the candidate wasn't charged with a felony or convicted, that arrest alone would not be enough to keep the applicant out of the applicant pool.
Just imagine if any of you left this job and went to apply for another LE agency, and your CR file (full of not-sustained, unfounded or exonerated beefs) followed you. Should you be held back from old allegations that went nowhere?

Rahm has been touting 1,000 new police officers on the streets since he swooped into town in 2011. He lies, is a liar, and as such, he will be dealt with by whatever god he prays to.

That said, someone here mentioned that the Lodge was pissed about some things that went down at the funeral, or at least, that's how it sounded. Never heard anything more. Can that guy from Friday expound upon the Facebook posting?

We all know that Rahm completely whored himself out in front of the cameras, as if he gave a shit about the police.

Can I get an explanation of what "The CHANGE" is?!

Do you see the social media and recruitment ads? Who the target is? Where they are targeting?
The dog whistle phrase and intentional omission of white males from all photos is obvious. Not even hiding it. Social engineering? By skin color? Gender?
Is this legal? Is there a case somewhere here?
Take a walk through the academy. No exaggeration, currently 15-20% M-F/2. By design.
Someone wanna whistle blow in HR and/or Investigations about the request/order to get to the minority candidates first? Push M/2s off to the side. Yes....it happens. Provable? Only with some witnesses and testimony. Blow the whistle! There has got to be a police sympathizing lawyer willing to take this possible city bankrupting civil case on?!
Between the intentional browning and diversifying of the command staff, NOBLE test performance, social engineering of applicants/new hires, constant pride and boasting from the mayor refering to color and diversity and minority hires, extra points for CPS students (religious discrimination?), BLM and white privilege narrative sympathy etc... Evidence, circumstantial or otherwise, has piled up.
Last I checked, whites are a minority (or fast becoming) in chicago anyways. I want points.
I dont like victims. I sound like one. But Im tired of the cloaked reparations.

If done externally and/or privately, there can be no/minimal engineering. No shady psych disqualifications. No stated preferences. Would you want a 3rd party having emails,memos, policy,witnesses not beholden to their patronage position...being witness to a policy of discrimination?

Talk to the FOP. At 17 months the city can send the PPO’s to any district they want and they are not counted under either avid or management position. This is in the contract, but the city has to make the move prior to them getting off probation at 18 months. Doesn’t seem fair a PPO can be sent right out of the academy to 016 and an experienced officer can’t transfer in with 15 years. That is if the city list any openings, they can just keep bringing in PPO’s

You will be waiting a long time. Even if you locked up 10 people who are on the job and they weren’t convicted, HR doesn’t automatically disqualify them.

Go back to every police new hire order for the past year and see who the new hires are. Let me just say in some cases 70% on the list are M/F 3/4's. You'll find a few Polish sounding names on each. But that number is pretty much the standard for this last year. Actually, this fact can be found by reading the new hires list from the last 2 months. 30% (white, black and other)

Dan Herbert had a chance when he filed suit against Tracy Ladner for disqualifying coppers kids and vets. He blew this case because he was not preparedd, you can still find his testimony in court. He took $2500. from people and deliverednothing because he is so wrapped up in rying to better his career with the Van Dyke trial. Me, i would rather have big mouth Sam Adam. Herbert is not as great as he advertises.

I visited the acedemy about a month ago and all I saw was white and Hispanic recruits. I saw about 25 Black recruits and that’s being generous so this browning of the academy you speak of is Fake News. Take yo ass down there and look around We need the most qualified candidates. Also all recruits need to go directly to the ghetto to learn how to write paper and be the police. Kent Tech is a scam, HR has many good Investigators but because the HR Director has his orders to bring in "#'s " as he said so himself from city hall, they are all putting candidates through who have no right getting on. If an applicant gets or got denied getting hired somewhere else chances are they will get on here. if you have a shady past , chances are they'll get on here, If one Investigator denies a file CP turns the file over to someone else to " make it happen" or, BM will turned blind eye for something considered very minor. between HR Director , CP & BM all of who will long gone when the law suits come down yrs down the road, this department is fucked. Why? because they're pulling in ridiculous $$$ in O.T.... DO WHAT YOU GOTTA DO TO GET US #'S.. Imagine that, HR DIRECTOR is signing off on files that no investigator would accept because city hall wants #'s and between CP( who btw is VP of the Sgts union) rakes up a TON of $$$$ of O.T. .. Thats what happens when you hire a Director who is a CIVILIAN and you have WHITE SHIRT (CP) who is blinded by and supervises by the old saying -DO as I say , Not as I do mentality. The department is truly fucked..... just take a look at that class of 25 that started recently.... legit? riiiiiggggghhhhttttt, model candidates!! scandals that never get investigated!!!

Only reason why he wasn't charged was that the cops from xxxx district didn't show to court, nolle prose. Plenty of candidates are being put in for more than marijuana usage which was forgiven if used 2 years prior to hiring. Adderall, cocaine and other substances are being given a case by case pass even if they haven't hit that five year magically clean number.

Went to my nephews star ceremony at the academy not too long ago. Some blow hard of a Lt. gave a speech that was written by a Navy Seal. Great speech but completely inappropriate to give to a bunch of naive recruits. Talking about how they have to be warriors, and warriors do this, warriors do that, and warriors, warriors, warriors. I kept thinking to myself these kids are going to loose their jobs before they get off their cycles. Just another white shirt in a position they should not be in, and the band plays on.

Yes, times have changed. I took the written test in 1968, fresh out of the army. Many people taking the test were still wearing their khakis when they took the physical. Many thousands. The academy started a class of 30-35 every two weeks. My class had only four people that were not veterans.

Not going to happen-look who is working in that unit...all either desperate to stay off the street or gleefully pushing the agenda (or both). and KenTech?, what a joke making big bucks doing half assed work ---rest assured (as usual) no-one will take a hit for shoddy hiring.
Maybe CPD will blame KenTech who won't care because they aren't making the hiring decision and all their work is being accepted. West is untouchable (heaven only knows why- she's a goof). West and the new civilian Director will have moved on long before the sht hits the fan.

I'm sure Americans don't want a job making $75 grand a year. Well, at least so far in this case she will be disqualified because the State Police turned down her FOID Card request due to her illegal status. Hopefully she has some other skeletons in her closet if that falls through to disqualify her.

Seems the only ones doing any street/traffic stops are the ones who think this job is legitimate, that the I-Bonded feral ne’re do well will somehow turn it’s life around again after an arrest. Or is it just to please the supervisor?
Friend, your heart and integrity may be in the right place, but it’s no longer the right time.

Anyone can perch up atop of a camel and push the job as a way to pocket (not earn) a little bling-bling money.
If you have any doubts about the kind of candidates that became police officers, read some of those case reports.
Probably a big reason they went to electronic reports, the idiocy was too apparent when they sat there in a bin.
Besides overall laziness, there’s an obvious intelligence deficiency.

Hiring incapable and socially promoting them is just what Rahm wants to continue.
No matter where you go, there will always be a dozen or so slackers.
It really makes the job aggravating to have nitwits (merits) occupying a position they can’t comprehend and a boss who relies on the few dedicated reliable principled to make up the shortages.

It happened in the 80's with a class of goof's, a federal Judge made the City hire a bunch of people with IR numbers. The outcome was jail time, suits, and the IAD being tired up for years. Well over half of the class was fired or went to jail. The Dem's are full of shit and if you think of voting for Dem's, your not the solution your the fucking problem.

It is common practice for home room instructors to name check every recruit as they enter the academy. Name check, and run the plates and vin. It is shocking how many hits they get on brand new applicants. Once in the academy, everyone graduates. The rejection rate by the academy is less than 1%. Compare that to other major academies that have a rejection rate of 10-20%. There have been recruits have mental issues and poor attitudes yet they graduate. Remember the DOJ report? Training is a big problem.

I saw this problem in the making 3 years ago. The city will just keep sending PPOs to decent districts and letting the rest of you rot away. You might be able to get into 009 but that became a crappy place now too. Or become an FTO thats about the only way out.

In 1987 the moron class of recruits sued to keep their jobs and they won because the judge said the city waited to long to fire them. He ruled that since they already had their stars, uniform, gun etc that was the wrong time to fire them. It was the worst class in dept history with the entire class gone in 10 yrs. for a variety of reasons.

No, actually he's 100% correct,Sparky.When I came on in the mid 80s quite a few in my homeroom had arrests,one loser for rape (fired in less than 2 years).The rule was no felony convictions. Anything else seemed A-Ok.This Dept has been a joke from way before most of these new recruits were even born.

Do you have any idea how many college graduates come on this job? Getting a college degree does not guarantee you will get a high paying job. Maybe if you are in the top 10% of your class at Champaign , northwestern or Michigan but not from just graduating from an average college with a degree in communications , liberal arts or psychology. And for sure you won’t be making 75K a year Do you also know how many college graduates are unemployed or driving an Uber while they are trying to find a job. Just sayin

I saw the problem 30 years ago when the FOP allowed this in the contract. Why would you fight for seniority and bids and then let the city place PPO’s with 17 months seniority be placed in any districts in the city. Why not open bids in the districts the month prior to the PPO’s getting their permanent assignment, fill the districts with bids and send the PPO’s to the districts to replace the officers that bid out

Of course they are being taught ethics by Lieut Popeye who had the scenarios for the Lieut Exam. Scored in the thousands for sgts but miraculously scored in the top 10 for lieut. Yeah Popeye keep telling everyone how you are legit.

In 1987 the moron class of recruits sued to keep their jobs and they won because the judge said the city waited to long to fire them. He ruled that since they already had their stars, uniform, gun etc that was the wrong time to fire them. It was the worst class in dept history with the entire class gone in 10 yrs. for a variety of reasons.

You left out the fact the City was so short handed the Army was letting people ETS early to join the ranks. Many jumped at the chance to leave Uncle Sam took the job then left the CPD shortly thereafter. Wise move on their part.

Drop the college requirement plenty of high school GED graduates with no criminal records or history there would be no shortage of applicants!
