- Mayor Rahm Emanuel on Thursday dismissed as “upside-down and inside-out” President Donald Trump’s suggestion that arming trained teachers could deter school shootings.
“It is absurd, at any way you look at it, by President Trump that the best way to protect our kids is to bring more guns into schools,” Emanuel told reporters after an event to promote an academic recognition award for Chicago Public Schools. “And now we have a president who’s taking what had been common sense to anybody, both on the public safety side and the public education side, and turning that upside down and inside out.”
This said while he's being protected by a detail of a dozen cops and his "residence" is surrounded by how many squad cars with cops? Something makes Rahm more "valuable" than children?
Courtrooms have deputies, metal detectors are in use at Court, stadiums, City Hall, HQ. Chicago has cops AND CPS security AND metal detectors at every high school.
After 9/11, the Air Marshall program was upgraded and pilots were armed. Why was that? How many hijacking have there been in the US since then?
All 50 states have some form of Concealed Carry, and aside from a handful of major cities run by democrats, crime has gone down for how many decades?
Lt. Col Dave Grossman has (again) an article on the "denial culture" so prevalent on the left that ignores actual practical and affordable solutions.

As police we have seen some of these horrible crimes. No police officer would ever think of not having a gun after retirement. Because they know the animals exist to pray on unexpecting victims. Three guys being released from Cook County Jail don't need guns, they are young, determined, strong and the Victims are young, old and naive. The good people need guns!
Arming some CPS teachers could be a bad idea. Arming the right ones makes sense. Officers assigned to Caps or School cars should not be playing sports with the community but on the active guard of our children. Patrol the schools in district. Please do this, manpower is too low to F around.

Maybe Rahm can have those, "No Guns Allowed", stickers on school doors made much bigger as I can see how a shooter may miss the smallers ones if he is in a hurry. Larger signs will definitely dissuade these killers. Or how about placing the "Hands Up Don't" people around the schools stopping the would be shooters in their tracks. You can bet the liberal loons on the left are already thinking along these lines.
We have armed guards guarding all the politicians, armed guards guarding money, property, facilities, airports, events and on and on but nobody embeded in our schools to stop nuts from killing our kids. This is so wrong.

New jersey has no concealed carry you cannot get one unless you carry it during your working hours as an armed guard or a retired police officer. Other then that your not getting one. Nj sucks lol

In 019, the mayor's home detail is never, never, never allowed to be short handed and they and the mayor's detail never wear body cameras. The home is protected on all sides with fixed and mobile posts and a supervisor every day of the year. These officers come from 019 so they don't have to show those numbers on the mayor's detail. He and his whole family are of course protected and chauffeured by police with a phalanx of guns at all times.
How about disarming the security detail that protects him, his family and home and requiring them to wear body cameras instead...
Really after working for CPD for 31 years and assigned to the school patrol unit and at a district level to a CPS high school for 20 years stated look at who they hire for security and how some or most school don’t operate the equipment they have. It’s like junior achievement every man for himself til something news worthy happens.
Rahm rather placed a push broom in the caps officer's hands and have them sweep up the alleys on the south and west side then take a camera and flash away pictures has he wants the votes of the south and west sides.....

Why not start up the school unit again? He won’t do that. That money has to go to projects that aren’t needed to enrich his buddies.
Was in Jerusalem a while back and observed armed guards on school buses and in schools because of numerous terrorist attacks. Needs to be in force here as well sorry to say. There is evil in the world and it needs to be confronted not ignored.

Create an agency similar to the Air Marshals except for schools. Staff it with off duty P.O.'s-retired P.O.'s-military vets.
Give them the authority to investigate intelligence gathered (tips etc.).

Israeli schools have 3 personnel who are armed at all times during school hours. Their identity is unknown to the students and possibly to other school personnel (I am not sure of that). All doors are locked . Since implementing this there have been no terrorist/criminal homicides inside the schools.
Anything that doesn't agree with the democommie aim of total dis-arming of the civilian population, they can't endorse. The stunts of the previous administration, like spying on the political opposition, among others shows their totalitarian aims. Their actions speak louder than their lies and bullshit.
Really? Think about the public school teachers you have had to deal with. How many of them would you trust with a gun? How many of them would have their gun stolen from their desk/purse on the 1st day?

Why rule it out? Have the ability for select teachers to be armed so the criminal knows that there could be an armed/trained school employee in the building. Give that option to a very-select few school employee who are trained and meet standards.

There are two problems. First, who is going to pay for this? Is the Fed going to give money to schools to pay for more armed security? CPS is broke (in more ways than 1. Not all Chicago public schools have armed police and metal detectors; the cost of putting them in every school would be insane. It ultimately falls to property taxes. Not against the idea but paying for it needs to be in the discussions. There is a good deal of research that shows that firearm training is not enough and people, including those in the military freeze or fail under pressure. hell, just look at the coward down in Florida who did nothing. Not to mention the question of body armor for teachers.
Officers assigned to Caps or School cars should not be playing sports with the community but on the active guard of our children.
How about relocating all CAPS offices inside public schools. Increased security presence!

Not a cop, but got a question. What happens when law enforcement gets a call that there is an active shooter incident at a school and go in when there are any number of armed teachers running around? Doesn't it put cop's lives in danger when you can't tell the good guy from the bad guy? Plus, does anyone else have the sense that the teachers who are most likely to volunteer to be armed are the exact one's who should not be? I think you'll get a lot of a certain mentality--the type of guy that has also wanted to strut around with a gun, but was never willing to meet the qualifications and standards of a military or police organization.

Then look at the connected and corrupt security companies like G4S and the like.

Arming competent people (protectors) is a good idea. Arming average teachers may be a bad idea considering most teachers are flaming liberals who go, "Eeeuuuu!" at the mere mention of a gun.

I disagree. Those teachers who are willing to risk their own lives by confronting a gunman while unarmed should be able to properly protect their students. Besides the usual training and certification, they should pass a psychological eval, too.

So if the cops are afraid to go in who is going to stop another shooter? Maybe the principle can talk to him or her. Or maybe someone could explain he is breaking the law and please stop. All the laws we have say don't kill and yet we have law breakers. CPS doesn’t want CPD in the schools. Police are only tolerated because the liability without CPD in the high schools would crushing. They don’t want CPD to arrest anyone for anything. They are now demanding that school officers be approved by a “board” consisting of the radical, commie teachers and the students guardians, many of whom are haters, criminals, or illiterates. Rahm is going to allow these boards to access CPD disciplinary records.
I too am a Schurz grad 1972. Officer Timmy Lynch was a respected authority. Not only because he was the real police, but he could run like he was on the track team while in uniform. Officer Lynch is one of the reasons I became a CPD Officer for 35 years. I hope others become CPD Officers to do tbe rigbt thing at the right time.

But here's a News Flash Sparky; When that first round is discharged from the weapon of some deranged killer inside a school, all the Teachers in that building STOP TEACHING. It's the Shooter who is no longer letting 'the Teachers teach'.
When the sound of that first report is heard, Teachers are no longer Teachers -- they're potential murder victims just like their students. The overwhelming majority of those Teachers also become Protectors of their students, doing anything they can think of to keep everyone alive.

May I just clarify that President Trump was responding to a question from a parent of a Douglas High student. it was the parent who actually suggested that trained and qualified teachers could carry arms. President Trump (I like calling him that becauseof the effect it has on fools) basically agreed that the idea was worth considering.

Troll: Rahm demonstrates his stupidity again. What does he he know about security? He is the Mayor of the most dangerous city in the nation with upwards of 600 shot to death on the streets every year. Even a police commander is shot to death by a thug in possession unlawfully of a hand gun and wearing a bullet resistant vest in the crowded loop at 2:30 in the afternoon. He opens his mouth and we hear the ignorance abound. What an insufferable asshat in my opinion. Listen Rahm, we want the same level of security in the schools as you and 50 thieves enjoy at City Hall. Is that to much to ask for?

Happens all the time when stick up men try to rob a store and suddenly the clerk produces a weapon and starts firing. I’ve seen it happen so many times when they flee. They want to rob the weak Happens during bank robberies and they are not there for a fight with the police but to intimidate the weak and defenseless
