What the Hell?
- A person of interest was in custody Wednesday night in connection with the stabbing of a 2-year-old boy who was found dead earlier in the day in the Little Village neighborhood.
Mateo Garcia Aguayo was found unresponsive about 1:55 p.m. in a third-floor apartment in the 2700 block of South Avers Avenue and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office. He lived in the apartment.
Police said the boy suffered “severe trauma from lacerations and fatal stab wounds.” The wounds were so severe, the boy was nearly decapitated, police said.
What could possibly possess someone to "nearly decapitate[...]" a two year old child?
Hopefully, EAP and the Chaplains have reached out to the personnel on scene, similar to how they did for the Garfield Park lagoon child murder a few years back.

Please pick a school on your beat/in your district that when you stop driving for a while and drop anchor you can deter harm and guard our children. It was the child’s father. Absolutely sickening. Thanks, George Ryan, for eliminating the death penalty. There’s a total waste of oxygen that killed Cmdr. Bauer that is in desperate need of a lethal injection, and now, this guy too. There’s no doubt with either of these crimes. No “innocent man sent to death row” nonsense here.

The Garfield Park murder was the last straw for me. 2 weeks after that story broke, we were living in the UP. What is wrong with people??? I'm sure this will be some drug/gang related bs just like Garfield Park was, which is why I moved about as far away from that crap as you can get!

That’s exactly what I was thinking. The father of this boy spent the majority of his lifetime in mexico, it looks like he came here when he was 23. So who knows with who or what was he involved with down there. I seriously doubt it was his first time doing this to someone.

Here, in this one statement, ending with that conundrum question which has vexed many since, presumably, any have been capable of thinking it, feeling it, conceiving it's very existence.
Why?
At the very palpable risk of nudging past the razor sharp edge of the abyss......
To ask the "why" question, one requires the presumption of a "who", to provide the motive, intent, desire, etc, to the " why" question.
As the "why" is often misused to mean "how", as in, " how did this event come to occur" or "how could anyone actually do what has been done", it is common to omit the true meaning and purpose of the "why" question.
In this event, the motive for not seeking the actual answer to the "why" question is clear to see, if one chooses to look straight at it.
It's too fucking horrendous.
So, taking care to not impose the answer to this question, I merely state that the answer is obvious, and, also, obviously needed to remain oblivious, for the sake of individual sanity.
Only the soul truly tempered beyond vulnerablity to the horror can bear to have this particular "why" question actually answered.
