Baltimore Continues Descent
- The city of Baltimore has a real problem. It's been suffering from a wave of violence for some time now. Residents of the city thought it was over. After all, the murder rate for the first three months of this year dropped significantly, undoubtedly a good sign.
Unfortunately, it wasn't meant to be.
This month, the city has seen at least 29 murders as the violence surged yet again. This led Mayor Catherine E. Pugh to take to the streets to visit some local businesses. One of the exchanges recorded by the Baltimore Sun was a little concerning, though.
You see, Pugh stood inside of an area convenience store and asked what time the store closed. When the owner responded that they closed at 11:30, that wasn't good enough for Pugh.
"Isn’t that late?" the mayor reportedly responded. "That’s a little late. It keeps the crowds around here. Nine o’clock is nice. We need you-all to close at 9 o’clock at night."
So the store is responsible for deteriorating conditions in Baltimore, just like guns are responsible for killing people, pencils are responsible for misspelling words, spoons are responsible for making society obese, etc. And instead of addressing this via the licensing provisions in Baltimore, the mayor comes off as some authoritarian figure that will shut down businesses just when their most lucrative clientele is arriving to exercise their purchasing power. We're sensing another "food desert" argument arising soon.

So the food desert becomes even worse when the stores leave because with shorter hours they can't survive. But that will keep the bangers in their homes if stores are closed? Sorry guys, I'm all for closing these all night convenience stores and gas stations that only stay open late to sell liquor and blunts to the low lives that are cruising the streets. I lived in Atlanta from 2002 to 2006. At that time there was a rash of violence in the Buckhead area (nightclub/restaurant area). The Atlanta city council was talking about changing closing hours from 4:00 a.m. to 2:00 a.m. The black aldermen were opposed to this move because it would discriminate against their constituents. As a Atlanta radio personality used to say, "Nothing good happens after midnight!" It will be an interesting year in Baltimore and Chicago after a long, cold winter.
This is a prime example of Democratricity. Like electricity, which ALWAYS takes the path of least resistance, democrats will ALWAYS blame the victim instead of the offender.
And who are and where do the crimes occur? Why don't they ever want to talk about it? Seems to be a cultural issue in certain communities.

The complete documents will not be released immediately as attorneys will be allowed to block witnesses' names. The release comes after attorneys representing Chicago media companies filed a Motion for Access.
Van Dyke is accused of shooting teenager Laquan McDonald 16 times.
Van Dyke's attorneys continue to argue for a change of venue due to attention to the case.

It practically IS a curfew . . . all the legitimate business owners and the few law abiding citizens are expected to voluntarily be off the streets by 9:00 PM. Since Baltimore PD has been hamstrung by the ACLU and they now have a Chief of Police who apologized for 200 years of policing, this amounts to letting the shitbags have the run of the city after nightfall.
