Aldercreature Implies It's Normal
- The summerlike temperatures over the weekend brought out a “flash mob” of teenagers who were seen running along the Magnificent Mile, jumping on cars and leading to the arrest of one teen accused of throwing a liquid on an officer, according to police and an alderman.
“Teenagers do have a tendency to get unruly and get uncontrolled; that happens every summer on the beaches ... it happens in the school yards across the city,” said Ald. Brian Hopkins, 2nd. “But what did make this unique was the large numbers. This does appear to be intentionally planned with some forethought.”
The teens appear to have organized themselves on social media, Hopkins said. But unlike some other groups, Hopkins said the group did not target high-end retail shops. Officials are still trying to figure out the motive for the incident.
Hopkins, who once lived near Chicago and Michigan avenues, received calls from former neighbors and friends who reported that a large group of people ranging in age from 15 to 20 years old Saturday evening was scaring tourists and residents. Some teens were running up and down the sidewalks and some people reported seeing teens fighting and pushing people, Hopkins said.
There were “no serious injuries and no weapons recovered, but this was a group that was intent on creating chaos and mayhem,” he said.

- Pushing/shoving - battery
- Throwing liquid on an officer - aggravated battery
Didn't we used to have charges for this sort of behavior? But don't worry, they didn't hit any "high end" shops....just the people who won't be spending money there any more.

Didn't the management at the Water Tower building publicly apologize to some teens and their families because they were loitering in the building and not shopping. This was after some of these 'young people' were smashing display cases with hammers to grab what they could. Also the mobs that pile into stores grab the merchandise and flee. You can't have it both ways.

You should read the Reddit account of the Saturday Water Tower fracas. Most posters exclaimed that this was Fake News intended to smear black teens, that because there was no Trib or SunTimes news-coverage (at time of Reddit posts) that it was an obvious Fake News item planted by CWB web-site. I find it frightening how college-educated liberals (me being a former member of this group) are willing to twist themselves into proverbial pretzels to rationalize and defend antisocial and often outright criminal behavior of black and brown folks who commit crimes, participate in gangs, cheat social-welfare programs, violate immigration law, etc. Democrats often find themselves at the wrong-end of the law, defending the criminals rather than the law-abiding general citizenry. I have to say, I am so happy that I moved out of Chicago (and Illinois) to a low-tax state last year. I still read SCC and CWB regularly to keep up with what’s going on.
Could afford a higher priced house because real estate taxes on it are about a third of what I was paying in IL. Nicer area, better climate, beautiful views - it’s been a step up in every way.
I know you all have roots in IL, but I’m telling you - get out of there. There are a lot of nicer places to live, and IL’s just gonna get worse.

Here is a woman whose life and that of her infant child is one misstep away from death/kidnapping, and she has nothing but care and concern for the "boy" who placed her life in danger. The only enmity she exhibits in the article is for the detective who has the audacity to call her "my victim" and the people who "move to the suburbs" or who "buy guns." There is simply no rationalizing, debating, arguing with people like this. They simply can't be reached. Wow is that incredibly true ... and poetic.
Just because the politicians let stuff descend into a shit show that they can describe as "normal" does not make it right. Plain and simple.
I hope they keep wilding. Every person affected by it is another person utterly disgusted by them and their nonsense and less sympathetic to their bullshit. Liberals (who infest Chicago and created this mess with their mollycoddling PC rubbish) often vote the way they do because they have been insulated from the consequences of their voting. They are also often horribly naive. The only thing that might wake them up is personal, in their face experience with the monsters they've been coddling. A cold, painful dose of reality has a way of waking most people up pretty fast.
You can see this a bit in Upper West Side Manhattan right now. They are pushing to integrate the schools there and the liberal posh parents are having a colossal hissy fit. It was fine to vote for it to happen to other people's kids, but when it is their own, that's a different story. In Chicago, it was fine to be PC as long as the violence stayed in the ghetto, but when it leaves the ghetto, I highly doubt public sentiment will favor the PC crowd for long.
The only thing that can save liberal cities like Chicago is a massive sea change of taxpayer attitudes (and corresponding voting habits). The best way to achieve that is for them to get good and heartily sick of living with this nonsense up close and personal.
And you'll get a few years for pressing the gas pedal instead of the break. These are voters after all.

My quote in the Tribune draws a contrast between unruly teen behavior on the beaches and schoolyards, etc, and the type of mass criminal activity that was planned on social media and executed by a large group with leaders and as it appears, some semblance of organization. Nothing about that is normal.
I was wrong about one thing, however. I said there were no serious injuries associated with the mayhem downtown on 5 May. I learned earlier today that a 21 yr old victim, visiting downtown from the suburbs with his girlfriend, was attacked without provocation by 4 unknown offenders. He remains in ICU, critical condition with a fractured skull.
His distraught parents contacted my office today, because their repeated 911 calls failed to generate an investigatory response of any kind. For the record, SCC, I don't think that's normal, either.
No this is not normal, alderman. It's aberrant anti-social behavior exhibited by those with borderline probable personality disorders, no morals, no concern for others, no respect for society at large, and prolly no fathers at home. Let's start there ... goof

Have you never watched Jaws?
I'd like to see some national media reporters get to some of those yutes and interview them like they do people from the drug cartels.
