- When Mayor Rahm Emanuel reappointed Lori Lightfoot to head the Chicago Police Board in August, she said she wasn’t running for mayor against him.
Weeks later, though, Lightfoot purchased the website domain name that eventually would become her campaign site, along with several others. That was about nine months before she announced her bid Thursday.
To be fair, Rahm hadn't told her she was running for mayor yet.

I won’t vote for her, but I find it amusing that 3 of the candidates were employees of the city and were honored by Emanuel at some point, either in the press or with awards.

OT from this citizen troll: Congratulations to Sgt. Augle and Officer Ryan on their recognition last week. I saw the news interview with them and I think Officer Mendoza was her name. Thank you for your service to us. Three great, bright, articulate and well spoken representatives of the CPD for sure and thanks to all you cops for everything you do everyday. Vallas can't win. He is at 7% in a good poll. The Greeks are supporting McCarthy who is over 30 on a recent poll. Like him or not he is getting the ethnic vote. McCarthy will protect the pensions and help with the insurance. Crime is the biggest issue with 80% of the voters alarmed about it.
