We set the bar at 50 total shot and 9 dying of their wounds. The comments ran decidedly higher, believing that we greatly underestimated the carnage. Per HeyJackass.com (and using our parameters of 1700 hours Friday until 2359 hours Monday, the numbers are as follows:

There were a few earlier and a couple later that fell outside the times so even our conservative estimate overshot the mark a bit. What seemed to surprise some people (who must have been under a rock these past few years) was the mayhem downtown - three or four shootings, but also beatings, robberies and looting of stores.
We have no idea where Rahm and Special Ed hid those 1,000 extra coppers, but it wasn't in 001 or 018.

In a news interview at the start of the weekend the Superintendent said he was not going to put up with any nonsense and there would be a large number of police in uniform and a lot of police that you won't see. So maybe the police that you don't see were not really there so he didn't lie! The real question is where the hell was Rahm? You would think with all the with people being killed/shot and all the other violence which has been going on for years and the national conservative news and the President of the United States calling him out over this, he would be totally embarrassed and he would be out there as a leader and even just to do the job he is being paid for. But he wasn't as were the alderman. They leave the shit show to the first responders to solve and if they make any mistakes or take any action that may jeopardise the politicians, they will destroy them. A bunch of self serving, useless, arrogrant pompous asses.

How does this compare to the number of Americans shot and killed in Iraq and Afghanistan combined, for the same period of time? And remember, they have Real Fully Automatic Assault weapons in those countries! Hum, looks like the Combined total of American casualties for both of those foreign Occupied Combat zones was less than the number of Americans shot and killed in Chicago. And the same can be said for the number of Americans beaten, and or robbed. When you look at how violent life has become in Chicago, compared to Combat Zones; it becomes more clear and disturbing. Yet, we continue to elect members of the same Race Baiting Party! We continue to support a Media that has been bought by and supports the One Party System. We tolerate and accept a homicide clearance rate of 14.2%! WHAT THE F_ _k IS WRONG WITH US, for having allowed the quality of life in Chicago to fall to the level of a Third World nation? The poorest Chicago neighborhoods, used to be the least safe. Today, even the Chicago Gold Coast is Unsafe! Rahm has failed the Residents of Chicago. Both of Rahm's Police Superintendent's have shown themselves to be Incompetents. And now the one most responsible for throwing CPD under the bus, insults our intelligence by running for Mayor! The problem with Cook County and the City of Chicago is that there is No Republican Party so the citizens can have a pick. We have the Democratic Party and this is their kingdom. We lost the city and the county and if Pritzer gets elected it will be the state.(we are very close now). If Pritzer gets elected if you think there is population flight now wait and see what happens when he is the governor. What gets me is his tax policy. Why the state republicans don't expose his tax policy is puzzling. the conservative wing of the state republican party hates the present governor, Brue Rauner. Could it be that they would rather have Pritzer than Rauner.

Remember, THIS is what THEY voted for! They do not want more "people of color" in jail, no matter what their crime. The county has thousands of offenders on electronic home monitoring devices whose whereabouts are unknown. Among those unaccounted for are sex offenders and those with weapon offenses. People don't like it? Oh fucking well! Too bad, so sad, and too fucking late. The police are so consistently labeled the "problem", the "racists", the "untrustworthy", and the "aggressors". The police need more oversight, stricter regulation, more discipline, more intervention, and to tighten the parameters of their authority. More rules on those who enforce the rules so the "community" doesn't have to follow the rules! The politicians, elected and appointed, in coordination with all their supporters, the sanctimonious joyful haters, and those who silently opposed, can now lay in the bed they made for themselves. They turned law enforcement into nothing but video-activated score keepers and paper filers. When the shit show is over, just drop that paper like you would drop a deuce and walk the fuck away.

The police did what they could, with the resources they had, to stem the wilding downtown. Now they're being criticized by the media and the public who are basing their opinions on the sanitized versions of events being pushed out.
People and businesses who were directly impacted by the mayhem need to come forward with their stories and videos showing what really happened.
If the people and businesses being protected stay silent, then the only other recourse is to do nothing the next time events like this happen.
And for those people who say they should have all been locked up: The amount of resources needed to effect a mass arrest would have literally stripped the rest of the city. Add that they were mostly juveniles, and the logistics are staggering. They won't take them at Audy and good luck locating any parent or guardian to claim them.
So Chicago, which is it? Shag them out, let them run loose, or have the rest of the city go without police for an extended period of time.

Oh what a conundrum ...
Boycott all events downtown this summer. Have relatives here? Don’t you dare bring them anywhere downtown. Nobody show up to Taste of Chicago, Navy Pier fireworks or the air and water show!
i still haven't seen any extensive (or minimal) coverage of the downtown or beach "riots". where are the stories?

They had great doctors in the 70’s. Many had training in Viet Nam and saw more shooting victims there in 4 years than a trauma doctor today sees in a lifetime. Appears to be the luck of the draw. Some wounds can be treated and some aren’t survivable
