Racist Guns?
Evidently, all guns are NOT created equal:
- Off Topic: yesterday a friend who is retired went to the southside gun turn in, he is a male white. While standing in line with his turn in's a M/1 Sgt. came up to him in line and ask him how man he was turning in,he told him seven. Sgt. said two that's it. M/1 in front of him turns in 8 no problem. Friend walks up to turn them in and M/2 P.O. from the range who over stood his welcome there R.L. started to give him a hard time. Ofc. calls over Sgt. told him no way you have to leave were not taking any from you. It's sad to say it's over shame on the Sgt and the Ofc.
Only certain people are allowed to turn in weapons? We're confused.

I worked it and they didn't want any guns from white people. Their reason was all the shootings are in the black communities. The whites can afford to just give up their guns and the back community is poor. That was last year event. I'm sure it's the same.
No equality. Another reason to just leave. Shouldn't the city service all races equally. I'm to the point where I don't care and just want out.
He should have had a fellow colleague who is another race turn them in and bought breakfast for the two of them.
Those gun turn-in events do absolutely nothing to stop violence. We all know that but the department still pushes them as a feel good event for the ignorant liberals.

Well as handguns are no longer illegal in the city the officers at the range have got orders to only take in real guns, not ones stripped of parts. Race had nothing to do with it, P. O sent a civilian to do a straw turn in with remnants of guns, civilian gets upset and sgt asked him to leave, the guy turning in real guns no problem. I used to be on the range and the P.O putting a civilian up to this is too smart for his own good, word is once the civilian mentioned who he knew it was run up the chain now IAD is sniffing around about who sent him in, should have not caused a scene.
I remember years ago, dealers would turn in shit guns and make a profit... I retired about 6 years ago-- sounds like dealers are not welcomed anymore

People came as far as Danville but the issue was quantity. At no time was 8 accepted. It was a private event, orchestrated by CPD.
Well since the problem is "gun violence", it makes sense that these officers can determine which guns are violent, and which are well behaved.
Only non-racist guns are excepted. He could always sell them on the street. If they didn't work so much the better and if caught no problem there is no penalty for breaking the law in chicago, crook county. Wait that might be just for certain folks to.
This makes me sick. The catered-to constituency runs the shit show here in Cook County, Chicago.

My wife and I had 11 total. The same Sgt. Dickerson pulled me outside and said two’s the limit. “This is for people in the neighborhood.” Really? Meaning white folks aren’t wanted? The cute white girl with yoga pants had no time turning in over a dozen.
When I snapped a photo of the table where the CPD guys tried to identify make, model, caliber and serial number, Sgt. Dickerson blew a gasket and banned me from ever participating again. See the story at TTAG.

If you were his friend, you should have advised him to avoid the gun turn in and suggest he find an alternate home for those nasty dangerous guns, like my home safe . I would have paid a lot more, and not in Amazon gift cards.....Next time, word of mouth may find a good home for some halfway decent guns.

I read the GSL story this morning. This gun turn in was supposed to be a No Questions Asked event, yet he was grilled a number of times over his presence.

If it was orchestrated by CPD and manned by CPD it is not a private event. That is taxpayer dollars at work, not private funds.
White is privileged and therefor he should pay them to take his gunz! The more gunz the more privileged the more he should pay!

IIRC, a few years ago some of the Isra guys saved up a bunch of rusty crap 22s and old shot ties until one of Chicago’s big “buy backs”. There were 5 locations including father flaky at St Sabinas. Between the 5 locations and several pasty white guys at each location they turned in something like 250 guns for a $100 gift card each.
Then they took the cards and used them to buy new Ruger 10-22s for the youth shooting program with a thank you letter to mayor short shanks and father flaky they published online. Very embarrassing...and funny as hell.
That might make them wary of white guys with a bunch of guns to turn in.

This has happened before. Any m/2 turning in a gun should turn on their phone and record the whole experience. Sounds like reverse discrimination to me. If a m/1 experienced this treatment he would be filing a law suit. Where is the media when the white man is discriminated against?

So when did the Government sell us any firearms that they are able to buy back? The whole thing's a farce at best.
I've heard from FFL's who used to go to those things, look for the geniuses in line with decent looking firearms, and give them more than what the gift card would be, leaving the church or whatever to get the crap.
Which leads me to: Is the Church receiving all these firearms an FFL? Are they checking all the FOID's of the 'sellers'? Dollars to donuts few, if any, of the 'sellers' are FOID holders and they ALL ought to be arrested.
Then there's the ones with the loaded/chambered shotguns over their shoulders pointing at the fool behind them... CCL's on any of these people? UUW for all?
Or did the Legislature pass some kind of secret law enabling amnesty for these farces?
Who would turn in their weapons???????

I'm white, and I never heard about the turn-in. I've got a recalled Sears shotgun and a look-a-like BB gun I'd love to turn in for pizza/beer money. Guess I'm glad I didn't go just to get turned away. P.S. Anybody know if any southern suburbs are planning one?

The St. Sabina Armory sifts through the turn-in basket and keeps the good stuff (for security) then doles out a donated gift card in return.
There’s a paid member that monitors what is getting turnt-in and by whom.

Who’s to say that there’s a handwritten ledger simulating a legal transaction and an actual inventory is not done on site.

There has to be a better way to cash-in, Legally through a reputable arms dealer on consignment or to other PO’s.
Giving up unwanted guns to the government is never a good thing, especially for a paltry gift card or frozen turkey.
Never turn in any gun to the Government.
Look at what Germany did to its people pre WW2.
Look at Great Britain and how they disarmed their people. Parts of Englewood are safer than parts of Great Britain, which has No Go Zones for Police. Shit, even most of the police in Great Britain are unarmed. Unreal.
