- A Chicago police officer fatally shot a person Wednesday evening in the South Side Bronzeville neighborhood, police said.
Officers on a narcotics mission chased a suspect who ran away from them about 8:10 p.m. in the 300 block of East 47th Street, according to CPD [...].
During an “armed confrontation,” an officer shot the person, [...]. Paramedics initially took the critically wounded person to a hospital, where he later died. It wasn’t clear how many times or where on his body he was shot, and the Cook County medical examiner’s office hasn’t released details about the death. His age also wasn’t known.
A sergeant involved in the incident wasn’t shot but suffered a possible broken ankle while trying to hop a fence.
A gun was recovered at the scene...

It was a mess. The crowd kept trying to go inside the crime scene. They wouldn’t listen to anyone and police have to keep pushing them back. There was a taser deployed. And some random guy out of nowhere walks up to the news people and says, “hey can I please be interview? I saw the whole thing”. Of course the media interviewed this random person. All BS. All you can hear from the crowd was, “if he dead y’all gonna be gone one by one, on my this and that grave blah blah blah”. There has been a disturbing trend in recent months of 10-1's not being broadcasted over neighboring zones. Working in 009 last night and no mention whatsoever of the officer involved shooting or 10-1.
I live a couple blocks from this L stop. The residents tolerate (participate in?) street prostitution and open-air drug dealing. An innocent woman was caught in gang crossfire 2 blocks from this intersection back in April. She died after about a month in the hospital. This is what that neighborhood has agreed they'd tolerate. When are they going to get fed-up enough of the crime and killings to allow the CPD to do their job??? Do they want to raise their children to normalize this cesspool??? Really??? This is as good as it gets??? WTF.
