AlderAsshole Update
- Alderman John Arena’s office recently filed complaints with oversight agencies about social media comments by police officers and dozens of government workers who oppose a mixed-income housing project.
The City of Chicago recently released documents showing Arena's office collected information on roughly 70 individuals who expressed crime-related concerns about the proposed housing complex that will be located at 5150 N. Northwest Highway.
These individuals included police officers, firefighters, retired teachers, a Chicago Park District employee and Chicago Public Library worker.
It seems like alderasshole has filed the formal complaints now, meaning a government official, in the United States of America, has attempted to suppress free speech based solely on actions taken as private citizens.
Where's the fucking ACLU now?

We've had 2 chances to get rid of Arena and you guys didn't get out the vote against him. This guy is a poisonous bastard and has to go. Get off your duffs, I don't protest or raise hell but I NEVER miss voting. I never vote for my congressman, the Glorious Luis Gutierrez. I never vote for any democrat, they still win, but I at least vote against the judges and that louse Prickwrinkle. As much as Rauner is a disaster, just wait and watch Pritzker put a fork in the state and kill it forever. Get your family members out and get them to vote. Don't encourage any progressives you know to vote. These progressives are going to ruin where we live, some of us would like to continue living here if we could stop the leftward slide of the state. Some of us have family we'd miss if we moved to Tennessee or wherever. I don't want to have to move to Indiana either.

An excellent post and perhaps this alderman needs a case to school him in the 1st and 4th amendments to name a couple he may be straddling, It is hard for me to comprehend why ANYONE in that ward could vote for this guy. I think a circus midget could do a better job as an alderman.

The requests for information were gathered using state law,by a public official(s) with the documents sent back to public office. Seems like the elements for this statue are also met?

(Have worked with him, he loves himself- which is a necessary political trait- but would never trust him to do right thing for me and my neighbors and he would not bring anything special to the table. Would say he lost sight of what the city pays him to do- be the police- but truth has been a do-little since the day he hit the street using much of his on the clock time doing work for his side job -including recent campaign crap).

He got a strong constituency on the south side or the 45th ward. When he supported the development at 5150 N Milwaukee the comments were he committed political suicide. Doesn’t seem to be the case. No one is stepping up to challenge him

Plus all the northwest side aldermen are in jeopardy now that the property assessments have just been mailed. Something changed this time and assessments have skyrocketed. It is sticker shock time and the constituents are not going to be happy. Hey, the bright side is maybe that will make some more people to come out and vote

If I recall, Alderman Arena is the guy who demanded a police parking space at Cubs games. This guy is a total anti cop POS tool.

The last time Arena won I was talking to a polling worker I know and he told me that only 170 out of a potential 750 or so people showed up to vote at that particular polling place. That is a very sad representation.

There are 2 ways to increase that property tax bill:
Raise rate of taxation.
Raise AV of property.
(The given here is that the TOTAL taxation each year for crook county will always increase.)
AV is based upon Theorectically Honest and Accurate Market Value.
Market value is NEVER accurate, never honest and is driven by the obvious forces: broker/agent + seller desire for highest sold price = Market Value has no relevance to the homeowner living in their property.
Also, there are those who use their property equity to borrow to the max, thus, loan appraisals, pushed by property owners seeking maximum cash from their property's equity, (some not quite honest in their intentions to actually repay the loan) = dishonest market valuations.
Track the multiple changes of owners, concurrent with a steady increase in value via loan amounts owed, then followed by foreclosure, you will see just who is regularly pulling off this grift.
And it ain't honest American citizens.
The entire property tax system is NOT intended to support the home owner intending to live most of their life in their home. It is intended to do the precise opposite.
Grifters run our city, county and state.

To sue for damages, there must be damages. How has him filing a complaint damaged you? What has it cost you? Anyone can file a complaint against any city employee. It costs nothing. And if you suffer no lost pay, it cost you nothing either.
I’m not sure what damages you intend to sue him for, but I’m willing to listen and learn.

Niles is paradise compared to Skokie and Evanston. The juveys from the south side are hitting every suburb stealing and burglarizing cars. The free bus is all senior citizens so know what you are talking about.

The aroma dissipates quite nicely if you:
Reduce bulk to itty bitty little pieces.
Mix in an equal portion leafy materials, wood chips and pine needles.
Lay a few decomposing large rat cadeavors upon the surface, clearly visible to any nosy neighbors.
Have established a neighborhood reputation for having a green thumb, perhaps by freely distributing the damn best tasting carrots known to man.
The insects take care of things with astonishing efficiency.
