Nice Pensions

  • Of the 38 former elected Chicago officials currently receiving pensions, 15 former aldermen see yearly payouts exceeding $100,000, according to documents from the Municipal Employees’ Annuity and Benefit Fund of Chicago, or MEABF. Two additional aldermen receive annual pension payouts just a few thousand dollars shy of $100,000.

On average, the 15 former aldermen collecting six-figure annual pensions have accumulated $768,500 in total gross pension benefits. Four of those ex-aldermen have accumulated more than $1 million in gross benefits.

Please do not begrudge these public servants, these learned men, these elder statesmen for collecting a small stipend after a lifetime of tireless duty to the residents of Chicago. Yes, they were complicit in the systematic and gross under-funding of our pensions for the past 30 years. Yes, they have spent public money like drunken sailors on pet projects and buy-offs in certain "communities" to placate those groups at election time. However, they did make sure to fully fund their own pension system each and every year, without a single exception. So why shouldn't they reap the rewards? Now shut up and get some more ISRs.

If I recall correctly, Shortshanks is collecting MORE than one state funded pension. I swear I read an article years ago where Richie went back and worked like a week at some 'public service' job that qualified him for 'another' lifetime pension. The cocksucker is like Triple-dipping off the backs of Illinois Taxpayers.

Okay, my memory for the above isn't quite accurate. He didn't get another pension he greatly increased his pension amount for when he was an IL State Senator;
How Daley beefed up his pension payouts Chicago Tribune: May 2, 2012 || 'Former mayor took advantage of state's convoluted system' (I found it via a Google Search)

My point's the same. F--king politicians gaming the system to enrich themselves. And Richie Daly's a prime example.

Democrats. All about themselves. Double and triple dippers too.
Makes for a nice career, “govmint pension reaper”.
Nice exposé but not interesting enough for the Rahm mainstream media outlets.

No crisis in that pension fund, is there?
Won’t mention their healthcare freebies.
Stoking our coal into their furnace first is more likely happening.
Like the Cook Co Board and the Judge pension systems.
While they cry about funding 1st Responder pensions, the gifted CPS 2% makes the Alderthieves look legitimate.

Part-timers shouldn’t be getting full-timer benefits.
Then, most are engaged in secondary enterprises that can be considered conflictive if not out right corrupt.
Require Alderthieves to work a full 8.5 hours towards a 29+1 destination.
Toss in a 200 hour vacation limit too.
And give them all a swipe card too.

As long as the 48 Alderthieves are allowed to dabble into land acquisitions and real estate zoning, there’s no need for the Elected to be getting any City taxapayer benefits.

Public service my ass.
Move them off the benefit packages and see how attractive the job becomes.

Pension Reformists in Springfield, like BigHead Prickzter (D) will not hesitate to cut and tax 1st Responder Pensions first and ignore those few Elected pension robbers.

As the McDonald video sparked a political crisis 2 1/2 years ago, Emanuel at first rejected calls for an investigation by the U.S. Department of Justice but reversed himself as the concept gained support from other political officials. The resulting federal investigation led to a report released in January 2017 that described a comprehensively broken Police Department in which badly trained cops have practiced brutality and misconduct with little to fear from their supervisors or a largely ineffectual disciplinary system .

Because of T. Hilliard. J. Thomas passed away sitting in his recliner in his home. T.H. decided to use his powers and influence to have J. Thomas's death be officially declared as line of duty. His reasoning was that as 1st deputy he was technically on the clock 24/7 and the stress of this position caused his death. No disrespect to J.T., but he was a life time smoker, which may have contributed to his death, but we will never know.
