Escaped Prisoner Run Over
- A man was hit by two cars Monday morning, after escaping from police custody on the Far South Side.
Police said 22-year-old Darrell Brewer, facing drug and gun charges, was in the back of a prisoner transport van, which arrived at the South Chicago District on the 2200 block of East 103rd Street in the South Deering neighborhood shortly before 6 a.m. The van was being used to transport prisoners from police stations to court, and Brewer had been picked up at the Gresham District station before arriving at the South Chicago station.
When the doors to the van opened at the South Chicago station, Brewer bolted into the street, police said. He was still wearing handcuffs at the time. Police said Brewer ran down the street, and moments later was hit by two cars near 103rd and Yates.
Someone said neither car stopped, which is quite frankly hilarious.

Well, here come the law suits and CR's. Inattention to duty, it's the police departments fault he got hit and on and on. Lucky there were no cameras there, this putz would probably sue the drivers insurance also to increase his payout. You know it's true!

I hate it when a story like this ends with the term "minor abrasions". It just feels so inconclusive.....
Something similar happened to us years ago in 024. One morning we stop a guy carrying a tv. During the stop we ask him what brand of tv do you have there, at this point he books and we are chasing him on foot for a block when a motorist coming towards us sees the chase and "assists" by plowing into the offender which sent he flying and stunned on the ground. The motorist never stopped but gave us a waive as he went by us. We did not know where the tv came from until later that night when the victim reported it. We had the scene printed. Had to bring his hard cards down to 1121 and they processed the prints and it was positive. Told ASA everything and they approved residential burglary. And to the unknown motorist, thank you for a job well done.
The drivers might have thought they messed up a movie shot
and took off to avoid a lawsuit from the studio. With all the filming
going on in Chicago, you never know who you'll run into.
The city will be cutting a fat check on this one.
There will be another ghetto lottery against police for not controlling a prisoner. The two drivers will also be involved. That said would have been fun to watch. Talk about Karma being a bitch.
Should have made a speed bump out of him! Of course no one stopped after hitting him...Just goes to show how these neighborhoods have NO respect for human life.

It is obviously the fault of the officers escorting the prisoners.
They failed to keep him safe.

There is a traffic signal on 103rd St. He should have waited for the green light.

The media will not talk about his arrest or his prior record. They will not blame the vehicles which accidentally struck him. They will only put the blame squarely on the Police.

Department directives prevent us from handcuffing a prisoner to the inside of a vehicle. When the door opens, the prisoners are above the officers and, thus, have an advantage. This is the result.
You know how this will be played out? Dem Poleeces done threwed him n front a dem dere cars! I seent it! Watch, it's coming.

Not to mention his time off work as the CEO of the Vanecko Car Detailing Center.
This will be fun to watch as it winds down to how much to cut the check for. With Rahm not running bet the check will be much smaller. Also willing to bet what ever he was arrested for falls thru a very large pot hole in the city street, very near where his body wound up. You just can't make this up.Lol.

So I talked to this poop head at the hospital. He told me that he would have shot at the officer if he was able to run from him. He told me that he knows he would have got away if he shot at the officer because when you shoot at police the police have to take cover and call for backup and by that time he would have been gone. This pos lives at 5800 s shields, goolie gang. And said he always carries a gun on him.

You have to wonder...How much will this mutt sue the city for 'improperly securing a vehicle' that allowed him to escape and be harmed??
