Nice Elevators Rahm

  • Visitors in a famed Chicago skyscraper dropped 84 floors, but survived when an elevator malfunctioned in the world’s 16th tallest building.

A mechanical problem caused a half-dozen passengers nearly 1,500 feet above the Miracle Mile to drop from the 95th level cocktail lounge at 875 N. Michigan Ave. to the building’s 11th floor Friday. Rescuers spent almost three hours rescuing terrified passengers, according to CBS Chicago.
Okay, to be somewhat fair, Rahm doesn't maintain the elevators. But his administration is required by law to inspect the elevators annually and the certificates are to be prominently displayed, usually within the elevator itself so everyone knows the cars are in working order.

But in recent months, perhaps over the past year or two, elevators haven't been getting inspected, especially in city buildings. The certificates are years out of date or read "On File Somewhere Else." You can't even see if the elevator has been inspected this century if you don't put in the effort - and who does that?

No one....until an elevator falls 84 stories and the news media covers it up for three days until someone finally mentions the people weren't just trapped. They were trapped after a failure. All the descriptions we've read by the lazy media aren't malfunctions. One or more cables parted. That's a failure, not a malfunction.

One-hundred bucks says the "inspectors" (probably from Vanecko Elevator Maintenance" or some other shady outfit) aren't even riding the elevators, conducting emergency operation tests, or checking out the hoistways and the mechanical logs to ensure the equipment has been replaced as required so people aren't killed.

There are over 22,000 elevators and moving conveyances in the city. Property owners/management have inspections carried out by third party companies and not necessarily by City of Chicago building inspectors. The third party companies are supposed to do the inspections and send the results to the city via the internet. So the question is, who are those companies?

Three hours in an elevator, this is not acceptable. Call your aldercreatures now and demand gender neutral crappers on all elevators. I don't want someone peeing on my leg if I am trapped.

You can bet that they have elevator technicians standing by at city hall and the State of Illinois buildings just so no politicians get trapped.

City elevator inspectors haven't made site inspections for 20 years or so. They rely on the elevator maintenance contractor (Otis, Schindler, etc. to provide the city with their records as the basis for issuing the required certificate. Hell, the city inspectors do not even come out to witness the critical load test on the cables that have to be done every few years.

The building owners kicked the fire department off property to brief the media. The owners demanded CWB remove a photo of a crime scene because the building was visible. No wonder John Hancock didn't want to be associated with the building ownership anymore.

If you jump in the air right before the elevator comes to a stop you can't get hurt. I saw it in a cartoon once and it worked.

The last inspection of the elevator in the city leased building at 2455 S. Ashland Ave. was over twenty years ago by a guy that retired fifteen years ago. Way to go on hiring his replacement in a timely fashion.

Must have been a sphincter puckering moment for those poor pilgrims trapped on that elevator. Don't know if I hang the horse collar on rahmbo's neck for this one, but he has wrecked some many other thing here that at this point it just doesn't matter. The quicker we get little tippy toes out of here the better.

Boilers aren’t getting inspected either. Inspectors retire and just don’t get replaced. You’d be shocked to know how many boilers haven’t been inspected for years. How many are ticking time bombs?

Everytime I step into the elevator at work I hope it falls and malfunctions when I'm inside. Haven't seen a proper inspection certificate in 5 years and yes in the last 2 years it has been posted inspection certification is located in engineers office. I thought by law they need to be located in a conspicuous place inside the elevator.

Many elevators in the city haven't been inspected in years wonder if those owners get bills every year just like they get for boiler inspections that never happened, owners just chalk it up as another tax or fee and really don't mind not having to deal with some city inspector who may or may not be looking for his fair share.

Look at the names of the inspectors that sign the certificates you may remember them from old voting ballots. How many ever went to “elevator school”? That’s Chicago!

"Inspections" require the "Money" Rahm al-Ghoul
blows on pandering, kissing perpetually aggrieved
and unsatisfiable asses and putting in place a
whole other layer of heavily funded municipal/
ACLU-#blm bureaucracy with which to persecute
The Police in order to further said pandering
and kissing of perpetually aggrieved and un-
satisfiable asses now enshrined as defacto
municipal corporation policy.

"Huh? Whohadsaidsump'n?"

LOTS of fiscal bull jivin' under Rahm al-Ghoul...

The "Financial Whiz who worked with Obama."

Well, yeah...
Until he shit-talked FLOTUS and had to be reminded
that there was room for only ONE "Queen" to show
the entirety of her ass for all to be obliged to kiss
and that that "Queen" wasn't named Rahm Emanuel and
that "Queen" Michelle Obama was absolutely not going
to kiss Rahm Emanuel's ass no matter what feverishly
delusional shit he was thinking.

Funny...

The mental image of Rahm scurrying out of the Oval Office
while feeling the heat and concussion of a full power
"Muthafuckah, WHUT?" kick from Michelle missing his narrow,
North Shore Shitty-Ass by a six digit decimal's distance.

Heh... Left a heat impression on his kick pleat though...

Rahm almost got his tu-tu pressed
while his ass was still in it.

According to the recorded tour guide voice, the elevator travels at about 25 MPH going up. At about the 10th floor, your ears begin to pop. Im just wondering how fast it went on the way down. I'm sure everyone was checked for leaking cerebral spinal fluid after they got off. In all seriousness, elevators have emergency brakes built in so that you dont get smashed to smithereens when it stops.

City is responsible for inspections and building codes. Just another example of lackluster government work. This shit happens in third and fourth world countries. Taxes keep going up but services and safety continue to decrease. Where does all the money go? Lots of fancy titled positions in city government that pay 6 figure salaries - administrators, managers, directors, executives and the like, but who's actually turning the wheels?

I was stuck in an elevator at 26 and Cal. Thank G-d it didn't drop, but it was still an ominous feeling. Took about an hour for "whoever" to get it moving and open. This was on the north side of the bldg. that has 14 floors and was stuck between 7 and 8.
