RIP Trooper Lambert
- Scores of uniformed police officers and hundreds of mourners packed the chapel at Willow Creek Community Church in South Barrington on Friday morning to say farewell to Illinois State Trooper Christopher Lambert, who died after being struck by a car last week while helping victims of a crash.
Lambert, 34, had just finished his shift and was on his way home to Highland Park on Saturday when he stopped during a snowstorm to help at a scene of a three-vehicle crash on northbound Interstate 294 near Northbrook.
“He saw danger coming, and yet he pulled over, put his vehicle into position and did what the troopers do,” Illinois State Police Director Leo Schmitz said. “He knowingly, willingly and intentionally put himself in harm’s way.”
RIP Trooper Lambert and condolences to your family, co-workers and friends.

This heroic man did what all police strive to do, but unfortunately payed the ultimate price in doing so. You were taken far too soon...rest easy brother, we have the watch.
It is what cops do. Help people.

RIP Brother! I'll keep you and your family in my prayers.
To your Brother Troopers, CPD will always have your back, even when off duty.
God be with you and your family. I hope your brother trooper that died in nearly the same place was there to ease your journey. Please rest in peace, trooper.
RIP brother !
May you now rest, you did your duty and served us well.
God bless you, your family and friends.
RIP officer, unfortunately Ric Flair doesn't know when to zip it...
1,671 police vehicles in the procession. I was proud we were there to do that for his family. CPD & locals stepped up to the plate in a big way. Leo did great up there. JB was sincere and did well too but Lamberts LC MEG team mate gave a heart breaking speech about Chris. Guy who hit him is being a douche nozzle from what I'm gathering, no remorse at all.
RIP
Rip sir
Praying for the Lambert family.
Rest In Peace, son
Signed,
Mom of a trooper
RIP Trooper. Great turn out by all. And I think the Cook County Sheriffs Department took over the expressways, so Troopers could all attend.
