Are things really this out of hand in 014?
- Lt. S McD and KS recently made a PPO stand in the corner, facing the wall, over some imagined error in procedure
Having been subjected to the disciplinary process on a fair number of occasions, we're pretty sure this punishment doesn't fall in the SPAR matrix anywhere, nor the CL/CR process. In fact, actually subjecting a member (regardless of status) to this type of unofficial made-up punishment is grounds for an EEOC lawsuit and a CR of their very own.
The number of comments regarding these two psycho lieutenants we end up weeding out is pretty extensive, but it looks like we'll be letting more through.

The always drunk female Sarah McD (who is supposed to make captain?!?) Locked a PPO in a processing room after screaming at her. Hopefully she'll get fired for it however she will probably get promoted.
On one occasion, she tried taking out 3 PPOs in a squad car while she was stinking drunk one morning. Luckily, a desk officer stopped her and told her she was too "fucked up". She then went to the watch commander's office and locked herself in WC's bathroom and went to sleep on the bathroom floor for about 5 hours.

I worked for K.S. in 023 years ago when she was a sergeant.
There was definitely something wrong with her.
She would talk at roll call and no one could under stand what the hell she was talking about. It was like she was speaking a foreign language.
You now put these people in charge like the goof in 025 and they will eventually cost the city millions in payouts.

Without a doubt Sarah is the biggest alcoholic on duty I’ve ever seen. She for two decades has publicly humiliated recruits and officers because she simply gets her rocks off on it. Let’s not forget that the IG has been seen hanging out in 014 looking into “Double Dip Skip’s” extra curricular activities while on the clock. All this is driving poor McD to come in to work sober.

014 always had the shittiest of bosses since it was the "Dumping" ground for not only bosses but p.o's as well.

I've known Sarah a long time.
Always thought she was a decent cop and a trustworthy lady.
Saw her stand when others would dither.
Always tespected her until one morning in the Gladstone Tap, she ripped into a recruit, telling him she was going to get him fired for being drunk.
Naturally she said this to the recruit privately, then left.
Kid got so worried that it ruined a good buzz.
Guys called station to get her number, put the kid at ease.
That night she stood at desk and laughed about it.
Planned on having my conversation with her at checkoff, but she was gone at four.
Next night I told her what a bitch she was.
Never spoke since.
Recruit ended up becoming a fireman.
Bethy Olson was in 013. I worked for her and boy what a beaut she was. I had completely forgotten about her so thanks squad for reminding me.

I worked in 009 when she was a LT there. Crazy as a shithouse rat. She went off on me because I disagreed when she told me she wanted me to add something to my arrest report. I just smiled at her. It's truly amazing what these bosses can get away with.
Back in the day, the officers in 012 (we think) got Lt. Olson stripped by the on-duty Street Deputy for destroying evidence and attempting to release a police impersonator on midnights because "he promised her he wouldn't do it again."
This happened in the 10th district quite a while ago. Although Lt. Elizabeth Olsen was a nut and did nutty things, this incident was minor. A security guard had a Chicago Police flag on his uniform. Officers arrested him and wanted him charged with impersonating a police officer, just for wearing a Chicago flag. A warning would have been more than appropriate!!
I can confirm the Lt Olsen story from 012...….I was one of the P.O.'s back then, strangest situation I have been in on this job. Never had anything that crazy since.....

Frankly, I'm just surprised McDermott has been allowed to return to the 014th District as a supervisor, and a Lt. no less. It was no secret that Sarah was probably the most unproductive, sloppiest looking patrolman on the midnight shift there in the late 1990s. The only real work she put in was in making runs to Greektown to buy lunch for the midnight desk crew, and just fucking off her calls, in general. Good test taker that she has proven to be, she left a whole lot to be desired as an officer on several fronts. The only job on midnights there she actually took seriously was in organizing watch parties which began as soon as the shift ended. So it doesn't surprise me that her low character continues to be an embarrassment to the department every day she remains a member of it. Sad to see how far this once proud agency continues to remain in freefall.
It all started with the FTO who has never been the police. Called the academy and all to demand this PPO be fired. Everyone knows FTO hates females. However, assign her a male PPO and all she talks about is sexual in nature.
I'm reading this shit as a retired TF-4, Detective and Sgt with 36yrs and if anyone would have told me to stand in the corner for some infraction, well I guess that individual would have to stand in the corner with me. If this supervisor would refuse to stand in the corner with me, well how about a big Fuck-You. Any copper submitting to this stand in the corner is a fucking fool. You are the police, so act accordingly.

Yea i won’t vouch for the LTs but as far as the reasoning behind the ass chewing i believe she deserved every bit of it. I’m hat FTO is solid. PPO was straight stupid. No worries she keeps up with that shit she is going to get someone hurt!

This department finds it hard to fire a PPO especially if you are female or a minority. They tell the FTOs to work with them or just move them around.
If one is going to file an eeoc beef, one needs to keep good records, time, date, witnesses, video or audio if possible. Also, notify a supervisor, and all who are harassed need to stand together. Read about discrimination law and hostile work environment, and see an attorney, and or FOP. She was bad in 023 and was harsh sometimes know a few female P.Os.

Real simple solution.... next time Sarah is drunk/501 at work make it official. Make the complaint, she will have to blow, she will melt the gauage and she will be gone for a good 30-60 days.
