- Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle says she’ll halt plans to build a new police academy, dismantle the city’s contentious gang database and create an office of criminal justice as part of her plan to create a safer Chicago if elected.
The plan to freeze the proposed construction of a new $95 million police and fire academy “until further review” would allow the department to focus on overhauling police training because “our highest priority is curriculum and content, not buildings and amenities.”
So we need tons of training and all sorts of reform.....but we're going to continue to use a building that is so outdated, it's incapable of meeting the needs of a 21st century police department. Hell, it barely met the needs of a 20th century department, and that was when it opened in 1976.
Prickwrinkle is determined to deny the Department even the ability to improve - it's too convenient a whipping boy.

Near north is a cancer center. No air circulation, no cleaning, raw sewage smells from the unused bathrooms that have tried out gas traps allowing the sewer smell Nd stagnant dusty air. Who cares about a new BS Academy! The one we have is just fine. I’d rather put the money elsewhere. It isn’t the building that makes good cops. It’s the dumbing down of the hiring standards that needs to be fixed.

Prickwrinkle was on the news, giving her standard speech about too many black and brown people in HER jail, to an all black meeting.
That shit sure does get old, but it works wonders for her career. She has to blame the Police for the jail population, because she obviously doesn’t look at herself in a mirror. Maybe teaching the black and brown people how to behave in a reasonable society, before they end up in HER jail. How many members of her family have been arrested? How many teaching moments did she not do? Easier to blame someone else than take responsibility for yourself.......

Rahm will try to push the Academy and the $600 mil Sterling Bay TIF before he leaves.

What she is not talking about is her 20% cut in CPD manpower. Too many police on the street is the reason for all the tensions. Cutting the number of cops will cut down on the number of community interactions with the CPD. Someone needs to ask her about this in a public forum and get her response on record.
Near North is a JOKE for any and all police training. This old high school should of been knocked down year's ago.

Of course that was what I meant... once they got your money they don’t intend to lessen the burden on you. But, I am retired and moved out of that shithole back in 2013
SCC, you need to come forward an endorse a candidate for mayor. And then the entire first responder community needs to come out and support that person, whoever it may be.
It is the only way we can prevent Porkwinkle from becoming mayor.
Toni still has not said why she gave Ed’s son a one hundred thousand dollar a year job that he wasn’t qualified for. Toni will talk about anything to stop the Burke related questions.

Have you been to the site where they want to build the academy. It's right next to the garbage processing plant. In the summer the stench is unbelievable, that's why houses across the tracks, just west have sold for 500 bucks. So that's what rahm thought of us.
She wants to build the new " R. Kelly Recreation Sound Studio " for aspiring new rappers and rapists !
