(CPD?) Retiree Plane Crash

  • Southern California authorities have identified the pilot of a small plane involved in a deadly weekend crash as a retired Chicago police officer.

The Orange County Sheriff's Department says the pilot killed Sunday was 75-year-old Antonio Pastini of Gardnerville, a northern Nevada community.

Authorities are still trying to identify four people killed when part of the twin-engine Cessna fell into a house in Yorba Linda and ignited an intense fire. The condition of the bodies may require use of DNA.

National Transportation Safety Board investigator Maja Smith says witnesses described the aircraft coming out of a cloud and its tail and other parts breaking off as it rapidly descended.
RIP Officer.
UPDATE: Fake CPD badge and credentials? So now does IAD send personnel out to sunny California to recover said forgeries and conduct an investigation while checking out Disneyland? Just don't send the people who "investigated" the molesting sergeant or the cheating lieutenants.

It didn't just "fall out of the sky" the engines were screaming as if the plane was accelerating. Video of it was caught on Nest Cam.

So if he was a retired plumber would that headline read the same way?? I think not . What does it matter if he was a retired cpd officer. It’s a freaking tragic accident for everyone involved

The news said he was currently 75 years old and he retired in the mid-1980's with 21 years. If true, he would have been 41 years old when he retired. Supposing it is possible, it does not seem plausible.

Regardless, RIP Officer and may God bless the four as yet unidentified persons on the ground.

Pilot Here.
Classic case of Graveyard Spiral.
I live about 2 miles from the crash site.
Was solid overcast.
This was no small Cessna, 10 seats total.
Flying alone in IMC you should engage the autopilot asap.
Always follows the same pattern, wings and possibly tail found quite a distance
away from the main wreck site.
The spiral pulls the wings off.

He owned a business in Nevada. Some guys don't want 30 years, they want out and have the means to do so.

If he was former military, they would have mentioned that too, as well as musician, actor, polititican, etc. If you're somewhat in the public eye, it gets mentioned. Why so sensitive? It didn't affect his demise.

Sounds like he might have been incapacitated, heart attack, passed out before the spiral down. Witnesses said tail came off first, then the wings. Was a big two engine and most pilots go to auto pilot right after takeoff

YORBA LINDA, Calif. (WLS) -- A 75-year-old man was at the cockpit controls during a horrific plane crash in Southern California on Super Bowl Sunday, police said.

Police initially said Tony Pastini was a former Chicago police officer. Tuesday morning, police said that Pastini was not a former Chicago police officer, but apparently had false Chicago police credentials on him for an unknown reason.

For anyone who read post at 2/05/2019 11:27:00 AM---- Instrument meteorological conditions (IMC) is an aviation flight category that describes weather conditions that require pilots to fly primarily by reference to instruments.

Used the fake retired policeman credentials in case he got pulled over by the airplane police to curry the ol’ “professional courtesy”.

Dope dog hit on his plane, but alas, nothing more than a bag of Snausages were found in the glovebox.

Poco Joe Moreno loaned him the plane, but didn’t get a chance to report it stolen yet. Too late to do that now.

Folks,

I live in the area of the crash and responded to the scene, as you might imagine, I'm following this incident very closely. There is a dash cam video on Youtube that shows the plane exploded in the air. The engines separated from the plane in air and landed at least 3 blocks from each other.

WITSEC Witness protection program . . .?

Anyone check to see if Melrose or River Grove was missing a pilot?

And no, it isn't being overly sensitive to bristle at the MF news outlets who were Giddy with the story that this was a Retired CPD officer.

Would we see a story like "Heroic pilot who saved 4 people was retired CPD officer?"

The false credentials angle might be news, but they didnt know they were fake until AFTER . . .

Arlo Guthrie Here
(Don't touch my bags if you please,
Mr. Customs Man)
Note Well: Pilot age, cost & operating cost of twin
engine, 10 seat plane don't make sense
1. Check Cessna tail number registration
2. Find out how many gallons of Avaition Fuel was
purchased before take off; Cash or Credit Card
3. Maybe plane was decoy (do runners ask for
attention by using large-capacity aircraft)
4. Cheaper options available for joy ride; maintenance of
pilot skills
5. Any past links to DEA/CIA? Rendition of undesirables,
non-commercial transportation for Special Agents, special
drops of drugs/weapons
6. Why was 75-yr old pilot flying an empty school bus?

as stated above classic grave yard spiral in imc. over stresses the plane and the wings and tail and comes apart spiraling to the ground. video i saw didnt show an explosion, just the engines and fuel burning as they fell to the ground. happens all the time when not qualified for imc or problem with instuments. people watch too much bad tv. the big question here is why grandpa is flying a huge, for general aviation, plane worth millions, with a fuel cost in the hundreds per hour, empty near the border with phony popo creds. should be interesting if the story ever comes out. lots of good theories posted here. popcorn time.
