ISP Admits Fault

This isn't a slam at troopers (who do a near impossible jobs riding 99 on the highways), but rather their administrative structure that is supposedly enforcing a plethora of laws that keep citizens safe:
  • Illinois State Police acknowledged Monday that the agency wrongly issued a gun license to the shooter in the Aurora warehouse murders, but in a detailed statement the agency also suggested that the Aurora Police Department may have failed to do its part to ensure the man no longer owned a weapon.

According to state records, Gary Martin applied for a firearm owner’s identification card on Jan. 17, 2014. He provided his name and birth date for a background check, and falsely answered “no” when asked if he had ever been convicted of a felony.

A records search only returned Martin’s criminal history in Illinois, a series of minor infractions that did not disqualify him from owning a gun. The screening process failed to detect a mid-1990s felony conviction for aggravated assault in Mississippi for which he served five years in prison and was released in 1997.
Now imagine these incompetent bureaucrats attempting to locate a few million guns in Illinois (along with tens of millions of magazines and more than a few billion rounds or ammo) once Jay-Bee the Hutt and his anti-gun agenda get rolling.

As noted in the comments a day or so ago, the ISP bureaucracy can't  even keep up with renewing lawful gun owners FOID cards. If they failed once, they're going to fail tens of dozens of other times. And if saddled with some half-assed gun registration/confiscation scheme, they are not only going to fail miserably, they are going to endanger cops.

I see this being pushed off to local police departments to go out and secure weapons.

ISP does not have enough manpower to do expressways in Chiraq, let alone knock on doors.

Sheriffs have no manpower or vehicles.

Local police will get the gig like warrants use to be done in each district.

Wait for that first shoot out and it will be a mess

Clear and Present Danger forms. Get to know them. Use them for the bad guys. Background checks miss sjit all the time. Get the people that concern you on the official ISP radar. They will investigate, suspend/revoke/deny if seen as concern. Small extra step to wave a red flag if you seem necessary. Might even still fall through cracks but at least yo tried.

To construct a law and to enact same, which is in conflict with both Constitutionlly defined as a right and as a God Given Right, renders said law null.

To enforce said null law is to invite refusal to submit to said enforcement.

To choose to submit to said enforcement of law nulled by intrinsic conflict with God Given Rights is akin to the tomcat volunteering to be both declawed and defanged. With the inclusive deballing being the bonus.

The predatory celebrate those who choose to submit, by rewarding them with glorious victimhood.

And the propaganda continues to flow, with nary a peep from those who enforce the nulled laws made by the cretins.

Such is the wisdom of mankind.

When I moved to IL in 2009, I had too had to apply to get my FOID. There was a background hit in Louisiana by someone with my exact same name. It took nine months of going in circles with ISP, and the threat to file a lawsuit to get my card. I had to submit to a fingerprinting to determine that I was NOT that person before my rights were restored.

I'm calling bullshit.

ISP would never voluntarily choose to drop crap like this proposal from the Brain trust downstate:

"Provides that beginning January 1, 2020, the Department of State Police shall maintain a centralized registry of all reports of handgun ammunition transactions reported to the Department in a manner prescribed by the Department. Provides that information in the registry, upon proper application for that information, shall be furnished to peace officers and authorized employees of the Department of State Police or to the person listed in the registry as the owner of the particular handgun ammunition. Provides that the Department of State Police shall adopt rules relating to the assessment and collection of end-user fees in an amount not to exceed $0.005 per round of handgun ammunition or per bullet, in which the accumulated fee amount may not exceed the cost to pay for the infrastructure, implementation, operational, enforcement, and future development costs of these provisions. Effective January 1, 2020, except some provisions effective immediately."

http://www.ilga.gov/legislation/BillStatus.asp?DocNum=1586&GAID=15&DocTypeID=HB&LegId=116073&SessionID=108

Seriously? That would break the ISPFSB. No, it's not going to pass, most likely, but that's there our legislators' heads are at. And any failing they can just lay the blame at the foot of the ISP.

How about a real background check! Why would anyone just check the Illinois database it takes the same amount of time .

Again politician coming up with law enforcement issues.

Why doesnt anyone ask how come the company didnt let employees carry concealed weapons at work. You dont think human resource people are gonna request armed security for firing employees.

And since we dont have gun registrations how would anyone know how many guns a person have.

A $10 card for a $100 worth of background check.
Yeah that works.
$150 5-yr for civilian CC vs. $75 1-yr. for IROCC.
Rather cheap for the civilian and generous, of course a retiree could always relinquish the irocc.

Anyway, what’s the IL FOID law say about these Cook County Expungement Fairs?
Question of the Day: Are past violent transgressions, juvenile included, eliminated from background checks?
You get one guess mon frere.

Mismanagement or conspiracy?
Where’s the money going, is this just an attempt to eventually abolish any and all forms of gun ownership?
FOIDs are registries for the law abiding and now are going to be used as a method for Democrat confiscation programs.

If the crimes for unlawfully using firearms during violent rampages were enforced, punishement swift and meaningful, especially those young if age and including first timer adults, things would be lot different.
How many violent armed feral get charged for IL No FOID agin?
Democrats just flatly refuse to enforce the laws, just excuses for the nuts, loons and angry.
They are not interested in any form of law and order being maintained.
It’s that violence has been tolerated and acceptable to elected Democrats any forever gives them a false agenda.
JB Toilette is willing to heighten the IL rules and set stringent measures affecting the law abiding to set his examples, whereas Cook County pampers the armed feral criminals.

By the way, any idea how many Chicago Sanctuary City ID’s are out there?
Remember, ID’s are racist.
And Democrats like JB Toilets don’t want any backgrounds revealed to ICE.
Yeah, $10 gets you a Democrat free pass.

i have a question i have not been able to get a straight answer to. about 45 minutes after the mercy hospital shootout, shortbus ed was on tv describing the number, make and models of the guns the shooter bought and when he bought them 5 years before. i thought the instant check system info was by law to be deleted shortly after the sale specifically so as not to create back door registration. ive not seen anyone question this. i asked at cabelas gun counter at christmas and the guy hemmed and hawed and said the atf keeps all the info. as i said i thought i had read over the years national registration was illegal and the info was to be deleted. even remember reading something about obama trying to circumvent this to have back door registration. so does the atf have a list of all guns and ammo you buy and keep it forever? should be really easy for the software to red flag the straw buyers who travel outside their home areas and buy dozens of glocks regularly like tonis always talking about indiana and wisconsin etc. any gun team guys got an answer?

Interesting post above in regards to gun purchase records being deleted as required. They are not.
Some years back I was contacted by a CPD Detective in regards to a European made compact semi auto that I then purchased maybe 2-3 years prior that matched the description of a gun used to shoot a Chicago cop. This shooting was in an alley outside of a residential garage if I recall.
Anyway, the detective was contacting all KNOWN purchasers of this not so popular at the time semi auto model to verify the said gun was still in personal possession. I lived in Western burbs at the time. I complied. The binder the female Detective was holding was inches thick of gun purchase info.
Nothing is deleted.
