Why Did He Have a Gun?
In yet another quantifiable demonstration (quantified by five dead innocents and five wounded police officers) of the failure of god-knows-how-many gun "laws" that don't do a single thing to protect citizens of Illinois, the media reports this:
- Court records show Martin was convicted of aggravated assault in the stabbing of a woman in Mississippi in 1995. He’d also been arrested six times previously by Aurora police, most recently in 2008 for violating an order of protection, Ziman revealed Saturday.
Ziman said the assault conviction might not have appeared on a criminal background check when Martin applied and was approved in January 2014 for a Firearm Owners Identification card. In March of that year, Martin applied to buy a handgun from an Aurora gun dealer, and he was approved within five days.
Five days after that, Martin applied for a concealed carry permit. When Martin’s felony conviction was discovered during the background check for that license, his application was denied and his FOID card was revoked. However, his Smith and Wesson handgun — the same weapon used in Friday’s shooting — was never confiscated.
Jay-Bee "BJ" the Hutt has already seen a couple of Confiscation Laws proposed in Springfield (and don't doubt for a second that he will sign anything Madigan gets passed) that won't fix a damn thing.

Will JB the Hutt use this against Leo? Not that he needs an excuse, but it is available for JB to make it look less about politics and more about managerial malfeasance. It is a cruel game and I would not put it past JB.
A 21 yr old kid on his first day there got killed. For some reason, it’s really bothering me and I have no ties to anything involving this incident. Weird how some things get to you.
He sent in prints with his CCL permit which flagged his felony. Thats why he was denied and his FOID was pulled. No prints required for FOID and felony did not show up on his background check for some reason. He lied on his FOID app. He lied on his CCL app. He lied on his 4473 when he filled it out to purchase a firearm. Luckily he got cocky or stupid and he sent in prints with his CCL permit which he didnt have to do. So the FFL who sold him the firearm did it legally since this piece of shit lied on the 4473. There are no laws that will stop a piece of shit from getting a firearm.
He had a gun because someone fucked up big time and the blood is on their hands. Find out who is responsible and fire them. I see state writing some big checks very soon.

The rulers of Illinois and their political lackeys have proven time and again that they can do hardly nothing correctly and efficiently, especially enact laws that they know can't be enforced but look and feel good to their democratic supporters. If they can't enforce registration and licensing laws, what makes anyone think they would get any kind of confiscation legislation correct. Because that's where the gun debate is certainly heading in deep blue states like Illinois. As Charlton Heston emphatically stated, " From my cold, dead hands".

They sent him a letter informing him that his foid card was revoked and to return the gun. Thats it. Forget to pay your water bill in this town and you'll get more attention than that. Most likely the state police budget has been so cut down to the point that they just don't have enough personnel to handle all of these follow ups.
Has anyone tried to renew their FOID card lately. I'm on third week and when I call no one knows shit.
So, since there are laws on the books that are supposed to handle this problem and since these laws are not enforced, then we must have new laws that will only be enforced selectively.
Lord forbid criminals get prosecuted for crimes they commit, perhaps if we made more people, who follow the laws, more defenseless, we can stop the criminals from committing crimes.

Say what? What makes a convicted felon think he can apply for a concealed carry license? Why was a college intern, on his first day at the company,permitted to sit in on a employee dismissal meeting? Some lawyer is going to have a field day with that.
Sorry - not a story anymore. When the Chicago News reporters saw the shooter was a minority and the victims were white, the TV stations dropped the story like a hot coal. Sunday morning news already wiped it clean from the program schedule.

The State Police who I use to work for doesn't have near the budget to do the job they are suppose to do. Try getting latent work on minor cases, you will wait a year for results. DNA , oh maybe 6 months if you are lucky. FOID is run by contractual employees, I think a company from Ind. does the checks. What are you going to do, get search warrants to recover guns if the person tells you to pound sand. What if he says he lost the gun , or it was stolen. Nothing.

He's not my governor. unlike most Illinois voters I wasn't stupid enough to vote for that corrupt, spineless, fat son of a bitch.
And yes, he will use this shooting to justify any reason to yank your FOID and ban your weapons.
I hate to bring this up but if that semi automatic bill gets passed and it most likely will, which one of you guys are going to go on the raids? Cause it could get very ugly...

Julianna has decided she wants her OWN security detail.
Used to be one Executive security unit that went around to all the Constitutional officers.
This will double the manpower in that unit and keep troops from doing other police-like things.

Sure doesn’t and what makes him feel it would. Don’t think there’s anywhere on the renewal that indicates your occupation or that you are law enforcement.

News flash. Police in Chicago need an FOID card to work. Now back to regular Juicy Smellit coverage.
When I Was out in Marxachusetts in the mid 1980s, working for a struggling high tech company, I was involved in several firings. We never had any problems with people getting angry, because it was common knowledge in the company that the head of Security had a concealed carry permit, and was an excellent shot.
So many gun laws on the books that are never enforced. Chuck Goudie exposed the low or I bonds going out like candy for gun offenders. Or the guy in Aurora who should have had a home visit to take away his FOID card and firearms. Now we have a states attorney who decided to not enforce laws on the books like retail theft and driving on a suspended license. Wait till the political backlash happens in 3-5 years and all the conservatives come back in power. Democrats shoot themselves in the foot and think minority voters are their salvation....not this time.
If you are revoked do they come to your house and seize your car? Why not you might drive it later....but seizing your guns? Yeah ok.
