Election Day Tuesday and many have been begging us to make an endorsement or provide some direction.
We don't endorse - we provide a forum (kind of a free-for-all forum) for people to spout their support or denigrate a particular foe.
We will say this much though:

- Prickwrinkle would be the death of Chicago.
- Only two candidates have polled at any level of support where they could beat Prickwrinkle - Daley and Mendoza.
- Vallas might be the best choice of a crowded and crappy field, but he has no money and (in our opinion), no chance. Plus he's just wishy-washy.
- Same for just about everyone else in the field - no governing experience (aside from Chico and he's a straight up communist), little money, bare name recognition and no actual ideas.
We don't like any of the choices - Daley is another Daley, Mendoza is a poor judge of character (see Herbie), and everyone with a chance is connected to the Machine.

Wow!!! I always wanted to be a fireman. Now I can sit in the station until I’m needed. Hope I can disregard a job as well when it’s deemed unsafe and fire can clear it for us prior to arriving. Yessssss! Hope the new mayor keeps our cable subscription in our new “firehouse!”

FOP and ALL the CPD should have gotten behind one candidate and that would have helped that candidate immensely. Now, you have no leverage no matter who gets in.

Jerry Joyce would be my choice, and that’s not to say I like him. His whole thing is about funding the pensions. I’ve been around long enough to know almost everything these assholes say is bullshit. But the bullshit he is spouting at least benefits us. But he also has no chance. Again, not to say I even like him. I find him way better than Vallas who seems to be all about dumping more money into the black hole that is CPS. With that being said, Joyce and Vallas are my top 2 picks respectively, and that’s with knowing their issues and flaws. I don’t particularly like either of them, but Pick your poison. Neither of them have a chance though. I might just write in my dog, fuck this city.

Always has been and since he has some skin in the democratic machine, always will be. He fooled nobody. I am guessing he is looking for another state to find some office to hold. God that made me sick to read. He begged for and was given a McDonald's franchise by Ray Kroc. Earned not given? And he was given the gift at least in-part because of being a minority. So cut the crap. Lots of people work hard and work their way up but aren't given a lucrative franchise worth millions. Listen to him talk. He has no ideas, he can hardly spout out a deep thought. That's why uses the summary statement time for a prayer. What did he say after condemning the closing of nearly 50 schools? He said build smaller schools in the areas where the 50 were closed. Brilliant idea, eh. He hands out money while running for office? How unethical is that? This is a man that calls himself Doctor when in-fact he was given an honorary degree for giving the college money. Some ego there. Again he didn't work for a Doctorate degree, he was handed an honorary degree like so many that give money to colleges. But no one else I've ever heard calls themselves Doctor. Note: He doesn't want to hire more cops. He talks about reinvestment in the south and west sides, how many times has that tune been played. But you don't see his business and residence down in the Englewood hood now do you. His favorite book is his own, which was very likely ghostwritten. He has been very lucky due to others generosity.
I haven't heard him hammer at the core issues in black community, that wouldn't get him votes. instead he wants to give, give, give. More free stuff. But calling them out for being bad parents, nope. He claims to give 50k here, 50k cash there, and much more in a matter of a weekend. Handing out cash without any strings at all. That means free money for drugs, booze, or to even possibly help fund gangs. And look how much these areas have changed due to his philanthropic efforts? None at all. Same problems different year. He would not be a mayor for all the people, he has his agenda too.

He is blowing smoke. The fucking schools had no place to go but up. Daley (part 2) was called out and embarrassed nationally. Vallas is the one who agreed to the ridiculous benefits the teachers have now. The lowest pension contribution anywhere. So the least this he can do is give us a plan to pay for them. He contributed to this problem, then rode off in to the sunset after he realized it couldn’t be sustained. His police family is in some suburb, not CPD. Vallas is what this city does not need.

I live on the northwest side and today I received two different flyers from Daley for Mayor. In one flyer it says Daley will take on CRIME and TAXES with 7 bullet points on what he is going to do on both, bringing in more beat officers, state of the art technology, toughter sentences for gun possession. Also freezing property taxes, fighting knee-jerk taxes and keeping neighborhoods affordable.
The other flyer has a photo of Barack Obama whom he served, Bobby Rush, and Al Gore the latter two endorsing him. Bobby Rush said "The future of this city is dependent on us to get this election right.......". Al Gore said, [Bill Daley] has a proven track record of achieving results for the people he is serving...."
Daley has many flaws:
1) He’s Shortshanks brother
2) He’s on record as supporting opening IL Constitution in order to reduce our pension( that his brother Shortshanks consistently underfunded!)

Who will Joyce give those juicy contracts he used to have at Navy Pier and O'Hare if he is elected?

Again he didn't work for a Doctorate degree, he was handed an honorary degree like so many that give money to colleges. But no one else I've ever heard calls themselves Doctor. Note: He doesn't want to hire more cops. He talks about reinvestment in the south and west sides, how many times has that tune been played. But you don't see his business and residence down in the Englewood hood now do you. His favorite book is his own, which was very likely ghostwritten. He has been very lucky due to others generosity.
I haven't heard him hammer at the core issues in black community, that wouldn't get him votes. instead he wants to give, give, give. More free stuff. But calling them out for being bad parents, nope. He claims to give 50k here, 50k cash there, and much more in a matter of a weekend. Handing out cash without any strings at all. That means free money for drugs, booze, or to even possibly help fund gangs. And look how much these areas have changed due to his philanthropic efforts? None at all. Same problems different year. I grew up in the Chicago Area. Left in 1970 and only just recently returned to Chicago Land. When I left a Daley had an iron grip on the city. Almost 50 years later there is still a Daley lurking about.
There were few at the time who really carded about the city, most were from radio station WIFM (What's In it For Me?). From what I have seen these past few months of being back NOTHING has changed.
Having family who are in law enforcement I would pray for the city but I think the Lord left without leaving a forwarding address.
The High Sheriff in the county I left; when asked by a member of the press why the perp was shot eleven times? His answer, "Because we ran out of bullets!"
