Why So Many Resources?
- Chicago Police Supt. Eddie Johnson on Thursday said police treated the Jussie Smollett case just like any other.
But for many Chicagoans, especially those who live in neighborhoods rattled by gun violence, the superintendent’s words ring hollow.
“Why so many resources for this case?” the Rev. Ira Acree asked Thursday. “No one was put in harm’s way. No one was shot. No one was killed.”
Well, you see Rev, there's money involved. And optics. And people pushing an agenda....many agendas actually - white, racist, Trump supporters bashing a gay black Hollywood type. That sells headlines and generates advertising dollars for democratic candidates to keep their voting blocs angry and donating.
A dead black kid killed by black kids selling dope or caught in the crossfire of warring black gangs? That is assumed by many people of all stripes to be business-as-usual and unworthy of reporting, investigating, solving. The "community's" refusal to assist in catching perpetrators doesn't help either.
And that's truly sad, because the innocent victims, of which there are a few, deserve the chance to grow up, get an education, be gainfully employed, and break the cycle by doing better than their parents did. You know where you find most of those kids nowadays? Not on the west and south sides for sure.
Guess what Smollet's defense is going to be? Racist police fucked up the investigation and interpreted the mountains of evidence in a way that reflected badly on Smollet because they're Trump supporters.
Which will surprise no one.

Fuck Acree. I used to meet with him when I was in 025 to help develop plans to reduce the level of violence committed by his parishioners. I quickly learned that he is not really concerned about reducing that level of violence but is instead really concerned about maintaining and increasing his power base and becoming another Jackson or Sharpton. M.R. is an awesome copper. He is a good dude, hard working , and knowledgeable. 015 is lucky to get him. He was a great Detective and will make a great Sergeant.

I will second that evaluation. This case is a prosecutors dream. A trial would fit the criteria of "a slow plea of guilty." Everyone knows at 26th Street after a jury trial, the defendant is going to the penitentiary big time, after a bench trial much less time, and a remorseful apologetic plea you get probation with treatment and community service. If Jussie follows his lawyers advice, doing probation is a lot easier that IDOC.

Given the idealogical divide on SCOTUS it is rare that a vote crosses those lines.
The Court found this so blatantly abusive that they slam dunked it.
Ruth Bader Ginsberg agreed with Brett Kavanaugh! Two idealogical bookends seeing eye to eye.

Supt. Ed Johnson looked good on TV today. He said all the right things about the Smollett case. We are all gratified that in your last days in office you finally found your voice and backbone. It must feel good to speak your mind with out Rahm's hand up your ass making your lips move.

The Root, a ghetto underground " community" online urban news source, called out the Chicago Police for their history of corruption and misconduct in their February 2019 pro Smollett anti Chicago PD smear .
Unfortunately, one of the misconduct cases they blamed on the Chicago police was the 1.2 million dollar settlement to Northwestern University PhD student Bruce Crosby, who was arrested for " stealing" his own car.
The only problem with this smear by the Root Reporter, is that the responsible police agency ...was the EVANSTON Illinois Police Department.
