Contract Rumors

This would be a giant win if true:
  • I’ve heard Emanuel’s negotiators have been summoned to city hall to nail down a CPD contract before he leaves office. Supposedly 6 years at 2.5% salary increase a year everything else the same. Emanuel’s fu to LL.
This would be typical Rahm...and it might actually make some sort of sense on some level:
  • It removes what are obviously going to be overly contentious negotiations with a new administration (regardless of who wins);
  • The Contract is almost two years gone - negotiations are going nowhere and should be in arbitration anyway;
  • With the economic recovery in full swing, it's probably cheaper to offer 2.5%
  • Lightfoot (or Prickwrinkle) has Rahm to blame for the lack of "reform" and can it for the next four years as clarion to their base;
We'd think that the next mayor would be happy to have this steaming pile of shit off their plate...AND have someone to blame for it who isn't around any more.

This one also popped up - together, someone has a great imagination or maybe something is shaking loose:
  • Looks like the Firemen are going to concede a lot of things to get a contract while rahm is still in office. They are not trusting their contract to the two morons that are in the run off.
We hope the CFD isn't collapsing, but they also aren't fighting what we're fighting.

The realist knows that the best thing to do given the uncertainty of which mayor we will be getting, thinks it’s best to take bumps in the duty availability, uniform allowance, 2.5% a year pay bump, and hop and skip to the bank with that retro once everything is finalized s few months down the line. Take the cash, don’t give anything up and tread water for now. Fight later on because if it’s Lightfoot down the line it will be better. Preckwinkle fucked county negotiations up royally and did all she could to fuck her workers over.

This would be the right thing to do but I doubt it will happen. The contract is Rahm’s responsibility being expired nearly 2 years ago. Long before Rahm decided not to run. Give us a raise, keep everything else the same and let’s move on. Otherwise it’s going to be 4 years without a contract and that’s just wrong.I’ll keep my fingers crossed.

Don’t believe any of this. They haven’t had a meeting and rahm already washed his hands of this. Certain changes NEED to be made and negotiated due to the consent decree so this is 100 percent false. The next mayor will be doing our contract. Rahm is on auto pilot out of here.

This actually makes some sense. There was a rumor going around that Rham promoted Eddie to Superintendent because Lightfoot told him to do it. So he did it to try to keep her happy in hope that she wouldn't run for mayor. We all know that the 9.5 digit midget is a vindictive little bitch and what a better FU to either of those 2 creatures than to lock us into a contract for their first and hopefully only mayoral term.

2.5 is a disaster. Everyone has felt the property tax increase, service increases, tuition increases, insurance increases, medical increases, parking increases, eating increases, transportation increases, entertainment increases, and clothing increases. This doesn't even take into account housing stock price increases in safe neighborhoods, car price increases, cell phone increases, and on and on. Not to mention that property taxes have a cap deduction of 10,000 now for federal income taxes. Owning property in Chicago is now a lead brick in acquiring wealth in Chicago.

The job of police officer assigned to a beat car has changed soooo much that the contract needs to be 6 years at 5% a year minimum. A police officer needs to be paid a professional wage for the now perfect service they must provide.

After only two years without a contract? That's pretty good! A look back at the last two decades show that we have been without a contract more years that we have actually had a contract. When you begin a new contract almost three-four years after the last one expires the non contract years add up. The new contracts are almost already expired when they are ratified. And we have yet to ever receive interest on our retro pay checks. I don't know that 2.5 percent even begins to keep up with the cost of living increases lately, but something is better than waiting another two years, and receiving less as this city is strangled by communist ideolog politicians. Lets keep voting the same people in, it's working so well. In fact, when they get old and die lets vote their children in. After all they are royalty, right?

I highly doubt this will happen. The police are the least thought about except when there’s problems. The city demands the police do all the heavy lifting time and time again but when it comes to contact time the politicians blow them off. If there’s no contract before Rahm leaves it will be two years without one. So realistically it could be another 2 years before an arbitrator rules on our contract. This could be an American record for a law enforcement agency going without a contract. I’m sure Chicago already holds the record. How’s that for a morale boost. Can you imagine the politicians doing that to the teachers?

Can’t see it happening. City could care if contract negotiations drags on 2 or more years longer. Rahm s our if office, let the new mayor deal with it.
Bottom line, it’s not going to happen, no time left. Has to be proposed by the mayor, given to FOP who has to review it, long process, then agree and after that have it placed on the next city hall meeting after discussion on the floor. Not going to happen when Rahm is still in office

Your contracts arent expired boys and girls. They we never valid contracts in the first place. Didnt yall learn from the quinn administration's slip up with afscme in court? A contract, an actual contract that binds legally and laqfully, for things like raises and benefits like insurance etc you kmow payckeck stufferooni cant be wiyh a executive who does not actually control the MONEY. You would have to have a contract of that nature with the City legislators.

It is a government of republican form thingy, and yes on that level even illinois is subject to it. This is especially true for Chicago of all places, which set itself up half a century ago to rule over the whole damn state.

Lets say Lightfoot loses, and Prickwrinkle is mayor. Lets say the aldercrearures get the wrinkle 3/4 of tge budget CPD operates on today, call it a cop hatred issue and punishment at its core.

There is nothin that PW can do about it and you can sue the mayor til the cows come home...the courts WILL tell ya to pound sand, which is why yer 2 years deep without a "contract" NOW. just as the courts told afscme to pound sand, so too will they tell yall.

So maybe it is time to walk away from the fraud "union contract" model and you guys band together as brothers and sisters in a REAL fight with those who control the money, the aldercreatures themselves, seeking a contract directly with it, oh and you have the built in negotiating loot called what you USED to pay the unions that long ago ceased doing anything but collecting YOUR earnings. You know, end the charade.

You might even then figure out that you dont exist to do the machine' bidding, instead existing to do what almost all of you BEGAN policework for in the first place- to arrest actual CRIMINALS who have actual victims, real victims.

I beg of you, oh those in Blue.
Stand up today, rigid like a ray.
The time is now, to realize How,
to do what is Proper, Right and Just for We The People AND YOU!

You swore a Oath, and we did too. Pay you we must and do so as we promise, pensions especially. Likewise, you have your end to uphold, and when you DO SO we will band together to see your pensions through!!!

Contract wise Do Not take a bite at the apple yet. It may be tempting but you have got to think of the long hall. Numb Nuts is going out the door and he wants to screw the next Mayor. For Numb Nuts any binding contract will do. Weather you like it or not the new Mayor will need an actual working Police Dept. This is especially true when they get into office and some one has to tell them the truth about the real crime stats. Spring and summer is coming and the killing fields will be stained red.

Think for a few moments. The consent decree is in place. The Federal Judge will select some one to be Administrator. Who will that be. Makes no difference. Once selected we are stuck with them. The Fetal game Plan is in place.

Look at CFD. There has to be some basic similarities to CFD regarding money and benefits. Rahm will push for signing before he leaves. If we wait the new Mayor will have to negotiate. I know its a crap shoot but this situation comes along once in a life time. Don't squander it.

FOP its time to put it on the line. FOP members if they don't organize and communicate with us for what we want, then "break their balls" at the next election. The same for Black and Hispanic police organizations. In unity there is strength. If you fail to unit as a "Blue Block Vote" for the next contract then you live for today only. You get the same results as the previous FOP leadership gave you. FOP leadership is only as good as the flame held to their feet. You have the match, the fuel and wood.

If you want an example of results oriented action, then look to Lightfoot and see how things can work for you when you get people working together. No endorsement here but just an example of winning. The 45th Ward knows about winning. They got it done.

Aint gonna happen. The whole strategy here is to delay delay delay until the consent decree gets fully implemented then the consent decree will dictate the terms of the contract. The administration will use the consent decree as a hammer to our protections and due process we currently possess. Unless it’s in the consent decree it won’t be in the new contract. So it goes to an arbitrator and he says “ nope, there’s a consent decree, you ain’t keeping this or that” or it goes to a judge and of course the judge cites the consent decree. You see the consent decree will replace our contracts since the city agreed to it. It will ultimately end up before the judge overseeing the consent decree and he will basically tell us what our new contract is.....

Whoever thinks that will be any CPD or CFD contract before Rahm leaves doesn’t know the process.
You need 2-3 months to get it all done. A CFD union steward who is related to me told me that if local 2
comes to an agreement they will need to sit down for the Ex Board to approve it. Then they need to
have 2 meetings with the union stewards to talk about it and answer questions, then they need to have 2
special membership meetings to bring it to the members. Then they need to send it out for a vote of the
members. Their President said that it would take 2 months for that process alone. Then Rahm needs to
bring it to the Budget committee and also the Police & Fire committee before. Bringing it to the full city
council meeting. I also believe that Rahm is only schedule to rule over 2 more city council meetings. Middle of
each March & April. The new mayor takes over the 2nd week of May. Local 2 president said that they needed
to agree on something by 2/15 to get it all done in theme. We are now in march. The door has probably shut
close by now.

BTW they will probably lose less the the FOP. They won’t be caving in to anything. Nobody is out to get them.

Screw retro better health insurance dental and vision.

Take the retro. The health, dental and vision insurance is the best you are going to get. Even in the last contract we could barely hold on to what we have, not improve it

Yes - it is impossible to have a new contract. However, it is not impossible for the Mayor to give a pay raise.

Who told you that. No one is getting a pay raise without a contract

Also consider he knows he pissed a lot of people off and wants to make somekind of amends while he keeps his future options open. The last memory will be he gave us X% increase for X yrs and he's probably hoping we forget the rest of the shit he did to us

3/01/2019 03:02:00 AM

I’m sure that’s what’s he’s thinking and worried about. Then go and spend those raises now
By your logic I guess the retirees can count on him reinstituting the retirees healthcare. He pissed them off and I’m sure he’s hoping they forgive him.

Quit talking this nonsense. Offers haven’t been discussed, FOP has to bring it to the membership.bas to be brought before the city council who has to study it and vote at a later date. No time to do that. Rahm will be looooong gone before a contract is approved

Rahm looking for future voters when he runs for Senate. He noticed how the CFD and CPD responded in 19, 41 & 45.

It’s a wonder he can sleep nights worrying about those few thousand votes in 3 wards. I’m surprised he would ever consider running for any office after the results in those 3 wards

The clouted keep getting taken care of. Former Lt MM from the academy gets promoted to Captain today and guess where he gets assigned. Yep right back to the academy. Not a day in Patrol and moves into a Captain spot that previously didn’t even exist (actually it did and then was replaced by a Commander spot)

Plus 2.5 percent per year is high for nowadays. Even the last contract only gave 1 percent increases on some years.

Keep in mind, those 1% and 2% raises were when the economy was in the shitter. Now is not the case. Arbitrator back then stated, look it up, we can negotiate a higher raise when the economy gets better.

You seriously think he gives a shit what the police think of him?! He feels guilty and wants to make amends?! Ya okay. He only gives a shit about himself. If he gave a shit about the contract he would’ve started negotiations awhile ago and finished up before he left. In his eyes the police (Van Dyke) are the reason he couldn’t win another election

Absolutely Correct!! Do you think for a minute that this guy can even admit defeat or even come out as a looser? Tiny Dancer is nothing but a pussy who is afraid of loosing and being known as one. He knows he was going to loose and thats why he dropt out. By the Way asshole Mayor...Keep that new commercial you had made about Trump to yourself..Hes better President than Mayor/Human youll ever be.

Mike Flannery was interviewing alligator eyes Lightfoot and said fires are down 80% why so many fire stations? He also said detectives are a -plenty but they wont come out from behind the desk to solve crimes. He tore up the detectives pretty bad.

First off it's sad you would rather be working then enjoying the later half of your life. Did you never develop a hobby.
Second your idea of being on time, does that include the extra hour you avoid taking jobs so late midnight cars get boned. Because second watch is really good about not working on time.

Flannery is an asshole. He even took a shot at the blog. Closing firehouses! That’s a an election winning platform. Lightfoot didn’t dare bite. You still need those fire rigs in case the community riots and burns this mo fo. Everyone knows it.

Listen up hair jel, third watch does it to second watch, and midnites does it to third watch, there are a-holes on every watch. I can't count the times I've been on a hospital detail and I hear on the radio a third watch car is assigned as relief, and they walk in an hour later carrying their Dunkin' Donuts bag and coffee. So shut your pie hole.
And it is non of your business how long the man wants to work, maybe he has bills still, and with the way the city screws us, who can blame him if he wants to work to that age. Maybe you don't understand because you still live in mommy's basement.

What if he or she is working inside. Bet the average age of the front office and other secretaries is under 30. I’ve seen some in their middle 29’s so don’t rag on. 60 year old who beyond their control might have to work

If you have to work till 63, then apparently you haven't planned or budget your future well. Not condemning working till 63, just saying there is more to life than working in the SHIT HOLE. How many year's do you think you'll live after retirement? God willing. God Bless and enjoy

Captain in the academy ? Please brother , that makes as much sense a a deputy chief running academy . It’s a commanders spot .
Captain rank should be eliminated, unless the cod puts them in charge of Districts units and end exempt rank of commander .

10:24 am , don’t have to work until 63 , I want to and would stay until 66 if rules were changed .
It would help pension fund and allow police Officers without 29 and a day to stay longer and those maxed out to stay if they want .

Then someone didnt plan on their future if they need the job at 63.
Pretty sad really it's called planning and saving. Basic life lessons learned or should have learned.
And it's fine I left the city for a suburb and dont have to worry about co workers screwing each other over on jobs. We actually start on time because it's our job.
