Well, well, well. All the loudmouths who voted for Jerry Joyce ended up screwing the Pooch. Don’t you guys realize that he was brought in to confuse the police?? To steal their votes and mix up the votes among the white canidates?? He entered the race less than 6 months ago after Daley and Vallas started picking up steam. Then, Joyce says a few pro police things, shakes some hands and hook line and sinker every dipper bites because most of us on this job are absolute simpletons. Well, once again, as in every election the vote split strategy works and we(you) fall for it. I sit at roll call and listed how Joyce is gonna win flat out and he’s gonna have every coppers vote. First off he got about 4K or less of active and retired cops. Got some good votes from fire families and the rest from the 19th ward. Every cop doesn’t vote. And if they do they aren’t all voting for the same guy. Nobody votes and nobody cares but they cry about it at roll call. Stop falling for the same truck every election. Stop sitting your vote for the “pro police guy” because they shake your hand. He was brought in as a democratic plant to protect preckwinkle. Enjoy because I’ll be retired in 11 months. Next January I’m out of here. House in Marco island Florida is already bought and I’ll be there by the first week of February next year. You all enjoy preckwinkle. I presume SCC had a reason(s) for not taking the advice/suggestion I submitted a week or so ago.
The one where an article would be a request for comments consisting of the candidate for mayor choice with only the candidate's name as the comment to be published.
Just the name. No other words allowed. No explanations no arguments, no bitching about the other assholes on the ballot, no nothing but the name of the candidate. No, this is whom I voted for, this is who you should not vote for, this one is the least worst, etc., just the name, first and last, as the name appears on the ballot.
Sure would have been interesting to count the comments, count the names and then decide if the readers have enough sense to determine the most likely to survive to the run off election.
Alas, this did not occur.
Instead, the usual happened.
Cackling hens cackled thruout all articles concerning this election opportunity.

Joyce volunteers began circulating nominating petitions in August of 2018, more than a month before Emanuel decided not to run and almost 2 months before either Dale or Preckwinkle decided to jump in. His volunteers collected more than 30,000 LEGIT signatures. The Daley campaign paid for their petition signatures with some of those hired submitting more than 5000 signatures and 8000 signatures each, the product of "round tabling". Joyce's campaign was primarily financed by their life savings, not contributions from billionaire hedge funders or financiers from downtown. As to the assertion he entered the race to protect Preckwinkle, others on this blog have said he was there to siphon votes from Vallas, who received about 2% of the vote. You might as well claimed he was there to take votes away from McStreetlights. I'm spending paragraphs here asserting how full of shit these claims submitted here about his motivations for running for public office. You are correct in your claims about the number of police registered to vote and those who do. Most, like you, sit at their keyboards and piss and moan about the policies and direction the police department is going. I suggest to you, that Bill Daley's entry into the mayoral fray was the result of assurances for financing his campaign by downtown financial interests who fear taxing and regulatory policies that may be set by some of the "progressive" candidates. He's more than 70 years old, has made millions in banking and finance. He entered the race after several others who got in to run against the incumbent Emanuel. But to this poster I'd suggest getting some SPF 50 or higher sunblock for the move to Marco Island, you'll certainly need it if you ever pry your head out of your ass.

We have historic low voter turn out yet the black candidates all seemed to pull in historic numbers in a city only 1/3 black. No way! I would be saying the same thing if all the white candidates reflected the same numbers, it just doesn't make sense. Lets not say it's because the white vote was split because the black vote was as well but yet they pull in unprecedented numbers. Something is not right. CTU took out the 3td longest serving alderman in Joe Moore. The Firemen ( with police backing) took out the clown arena.
Lodge 7 needs to get its act together and revamp their useless rubber stamp PAC committee. Proper leadership can unite the membership in a common cause but that hasn't happened in a long time because too many have been out for #1. There is no reason why we shouldn't be more of a voice in city politics. We dont recruit candidates, until last week we didnt even formally get together with local 2 to push candidates. I

Hey moron, Jerry was putting things in place long ago. Don’t know when Vallas started, but the reason they don’t announce is to get around fundraising rules. So they explore. Which Joyce did long before Daley. If you look at the big picture, you might get it right. Daley in my opinion got in And it benifited 1 person in my opinion. Preckwinkle. I believe if Preckwinkle gets in, another Daley may benefit. Such as a position on top of the county board. Bill Daley was done, he had semi-retired, was working the investments again, and had no reason to get in this race. I believe Jerry Joyce wants to help and I hope he lands on his feet and makes a run for States Attorney. I think that might be a good place to display his abilities to make changes for the better. Did you notice not one Daley brother came out in support of Bill Daley? Did you notice most of his campaign money was given to him by people and businesses who need write offs?
