What Happened in 015?

Bunch of reports that an armed mob freed a handcuffed arrestee from custody?

Have we reached that point already?

When do we start with the vigilantes? Because at some point, those acting like mobs are going to get themselves shot, by cops or by fed up citizens.

UPDATE: 015 District units on the 011 side of Cicero and Gladys. There are some links to the radio traffic in the comments.

They finally have the police dept they wanted. With the millennials having a few years under their belts and in most busy districts outnumbering the veterans this summer should be very interesting. The veterans know better than to not be pro active and the millennials are learning that they are biting off more than they can chew lol should get very interesting. And this was all over a traffic stop? Lol wow

Vigilantes? Why? The Democrat Machine wants to turn them all loose legally.

The damned Democrats don’t even want jails or prisons, so why would we risk our lives? Vigilantes? NFW Jack. We are moving out of. Hit ago to find lower taxes, better jobs, and safe streets. Maybe the city can put a “Street Tax” on tbe drug crews to pay your pensions?! We won’t after we move.

Guidelines for the do-it-yourselfers:

1. IF you are criminal in nature, aka intent, then you will reliably ignore all guidelines which follow.

2. IF you are not, by nature or intent, criminal, then pay attention to the following guidelines.

3. Background is Primary. No one wants to be the one who renders do-it-yourself means upon any who did not have it coming. Background must be Primary

4. Define "has it coming" as you will, bearing in mind that the line between your criminal intent and honest neccessity is not as opinion specified as you may find convenient. No, not according to the laws made by man, but by the laws you should, being honest, already know well enough to not fucking play mind games with.

5. Consider Murphy's Law to be as reliable as the Law of Gravity. Yeah. That reliable. Especially where Background is concerned.

6. Try not to bite off more than you can chew. With this particular activity, do-it-yourself as it is, spitting out what you cannot chew is not an option. Rather, you will end up choking on it. So, minimum to accomplish maximum is the goal.

7. Take to heart that knowing your own limitations is vital to avoid fucking yourself beyond all recovery. Confidence is not a substitute for competence.

8. Crucial to never disregard: No one is your friend, your supporter, your pal, buddy, reliable partner nor anything remotely resembling worthy of your confidence; kinda like you are a cop, but without the overlords second guessing every fucking breath you take. You, should you choose to do-it-yourself, will be alone, utterly alone, from that moment until you breathe your last.

9. Beware the jazz. (No, not the jizz, ya fucking prevert!!!!) The jazz. The tune that plays inducing you to do it. Do it because the jazz is playing and it beckond you to action!!!! The jazz is not your friend. The jazz just likes action. The jazz does not care who goes down, who does not nor what the fuck else results from doing-it-yourself. Beware the jazz. It will betray you.

So, for the do-it-yourself minded, you will be as alone as the number one. Not a hero, not a villian, not a poor schmuck in the wrong place at the wrong time, none of that, just you, alone.

Shots were fired as a distraction nearby to deter the officers. Typical bullshit.

This job is a true cluster fuck. Obama and his administration made acts like this possible with their anti police bullshit. If the police did have to use force on one these obstructers / resisters you bet your pay check that COPA would do everything in their power to fuck the coppers, who were doing their job. This and a million other reasons are why I don’t interact with the “community”. I drive aimlessly in circles with blinders on. On the 1st and 16th I collect my check and do the absolute bare minimum. Why would they turn off their cameras? Someone will need to take some time off for that decision.

The guy(s) on scene have to decide whether it is worth shooting a bunch of people to keep a prisoner who is under arrest for some trivial violation. if they know who he is they can always go get him later after getting some reinforcements.

You have to use your brains out there. Is it worth starting a riot over something like this? Let the guy go and move on. If your camera is on you have plenty of evidence to go get the people later.

I won't accept your apology for monday morning quarterbacking when you then follow it up with contradictory statements like "shoot those motherfuckers"... and Is it worth a gunfight ? No. This was 2 coppers against 1 offender, then very quickly became 1 copper with a prisoner against a larger group. Yes, they are chasing traffic on a daily basis and are taking pride in those Suspended Drivers and false plates. Some are TVBs, so they are learning to identify probable cause and write I-Bonds and some D-Bonds with gang ties. Some are turning into long forms and other are felony upgrades with a visit to branch 2. They are towing cars left and right. They got to start somewhere, we all started somewhere and we've expanded. I'm seeing the new kids on the block building up on their confidence level. Some are getting burglars, PSMVs and a few UUWs. As a veteran officer of 20 years, I'm constantly helping by providing guidance and how to write paper. Because they need it and we once needed it too. We were also were chasing that white rabbit when we started. It bring a smile to my face when I see the young officers get a good arrest and I'm the first to say good job, and good police work.

It is getting to the point where the public does not want to be policed.
==========
You act like the public ever wanted to be "policed". The public by and large just wants the police to leave them alone unless they have an issue that has to be addressed by police. No one really wants to be stopped for a revenue/pretext traffic stop. Or hassled when they are just walking in public.

It is true that in the past people at large seemed more tolerant of police. Not sure how that changed. might want to look in the mirror though.

The article is pathetic if that’s how it happened.

—-“The group “implied that they had weapons” and threatened the lone officer, though no one in the group displayed one, Guglielmi said. For his personal safety, the officer backed away and someone in the group grabbed the suspect and fled, Guglielmi said.

“Out an abundance of caution, he backs away from the arrestee. An individual comes and grabs the arrestee and another individual comes and grabs the narcotics,” he said.——

I’ve been in situations like this and although scary you can manage the situation to your advantage.

Curious - did the officers go on the radio and alert dispatch when they initiated the traffic stop? Did they call a 10-1 as soon as the crowd started coming out? Those are two things that should always be done. Also, the minute the bad guy dropped the dope, he should be placed under arrest, handcuffed behind his back (nice and tight) and put in the back of the squad car. Then go back and pick up the dope. Just trying to get everyone thinking ahead...

The hate for all the new kids is mind blowing. I have 20 years on and I want nothing more than to my fellow brothers and sisters, old and new in blue to succeed, go home safely and remain employed. Staying fetal might be the way to go, myself included, but I don't take joy in seeing "millennials" failing and I don't want them to fail. We're all doing a job. We're all blue at the end of the day. Instead of bitching, how about you dogs teach the new kids? Set an example. Since you know so much. It's no wonder this department has gone to shit. Lot of selfish dogs.

Very well put. Being from 011, I’ve observed the old timers (and I mean use that term in a good way) treat the younger guys really well, always willing to help, that is, as long as the young copper is willing to learn. I feel like the guys with time on the job in the shit districts are usually pretty good about not treating young guys like shit. It seems usually it’s the guys who have spent a vast majority of their careers in cush spots or non ghetto districts that treat the young guys the worst. You see the handful of angry dickheads comment here every day, and all I can think is “why the fuck would any honest humble young copper come to you with a questions?” There’s plenty of young guys out there doing solid work and will be real good police as they age and get more experience, I just hope there will be plenty “old timers” willing to guide them and teach them not to step on their dicks. And I think there is, just avoid these dickheads who are angry at everyone all the time.

This is being blown out of proportion by POs who are afraid to take the hit for losing a prisoner. If someone approaches you indicating they have a firearm you are justified to use deadly force. There a lot more questions than answers that will have to be answered by POs. Body cams don’t show any of this occurring (turned off) which is odd.

3/19/2019 08:48:00 AM
Congratulations. You've managed to be wrong in every single sentence. The best though is the "If someone approaches you indicating they have a firearm you are justified to use deadly force." So we can kill the the concealed carrier on approach if he lets me know he's armed?

If he's talking about this incident, yes he's right. doesn't matter if this guy was a conceal carry holder and he threaten to use his weapon on the officer if he doesn't let his prisoner go and has his hand on his waistline indicating he is going to pull it out as heard in the audio. Justified to shoot.

I cannot fault them for not. it's not worth it. you got a bwc, get them all on it and go from there. let the fucker go and go home to your family safe. It's not worth getting into a shootout for a shit head when the odds are against you in both that situation and politically.

I have to agree with you there. Anyone working in 011 should get duty availability EVERY month!! I did 14 years on the west side, both upstairs in the old A/4 and in 011, in patrol. I stayed so long because the PO's working there are truly a family. The constant turnover of the CO's and captains (with the exception of the late, great Capt Jimmy LaVoy) in 011 is what drove me out of there. The building is a toxic dump and should be torn down. Besides that, the majority of citizens don't want us there, so let them fend for themselves. At least 015 has a newer station on going for it.

Now we have ISR’s and a scared police force because for generations this department was doing everything the ass backwards way. I see more dinosaurs working cha and CTA with their heads in their phones pulling event numbers for lunch then I do millennials driving around “buried in their phones”. So having 8 years is making you a big time veteran and gives a privilege to look down at someone who has 6? And stop using word “millennials “, whoever was born in the new millennium could not be on the job yet since the oldest one would just turn 19.

Here's something for young coppers to consider. Stops like this create reputations. And unlike any other profession, if you fuck up and your misadventure hits social media or the papers, its gonna take a while for your episode to fade from memory, especially within the police department. I used to tell recruits that there's no other profession to display your assholiness than the Chicago Police Department. I listened to the audio on the Twitter link. If someone indicates they're armed, and you have your camera going, don't be too stupid to lose your life for fear of getting JVD'd.

3/19/2019 09:53:00 PM

--

you're going to shoot a guy in this day and age who pretends to have a gun? No me. You go ahead. Ya, you're justified. So what. You'll be the most innocent guy in prison and you're wife will be looking for someone to pay the mortgage. But you go with that.

Six or eight years ago, there was this thing called OPERATION: JUST CAUSE. You fuck with the police, you would see the of Wolfpack of S.O.S., T.R.U, Gang, Tactical, and Saturation Teams citywide flooding your District for a week. All the MF’ers who were caught hanging out “loitering” in the corner were arrested NO BREAK! Back then, they fear and respect the police. No one cared if they got a CR, because back then we treated each other as family. You had at least two cars backing you up whether it’s a domestic calls or a simply noise disturbance. We had a great camaraderie. Now, it’s all about “me” or “I hate this fucking job”.
I don’t blame these new guys. I blame the failed leaderships within this department. Clueless double merits collecting paychecks waiting to retire.

It was always my understanding that you have a duty to protect your prisoner and not let a mob take him away from you. And, you can use deadly force to do so. I wonder if this incident will result in a COPA investigation and a sustained complaint against the officer who lost a prisoner? Or, will the department say, " well done son, great skills in diffusing the situation".I fear the gangs in that area will now be even more embolden in the future. Not a good outcome either way.

In the paper today. Everyone brought in after the incident released? Makes no sense, if a threat was made simple assault, no need for felony review. No charges for taking a prisoner?

You act like the public ever wanted to be "policed". The public by and large just wants the police to leave them alone unless they have an issue that has to be addressed by police. No one really wants to be stopped for a revenue/pretext traffic stop. Or hassled when they are just walking in public.

—————————

Oh yeah? Well guess what? I have to have valid plates and a city sticker on my car - and the cost is ridiculous. I’m expected not to just whip my dick out and piss wherever I feel like. I wouldn’t walk down my block and throw my empty icehouse tall boy can on someone’s lawn. My 1/2 pit bull is always leashed. So if I live like a decent human being, a decent neighbor, and with some semblance of self respect, I’m glad to stop some shithead for a “revenue/pretext” event. The city sure as hell has no problem sending revenue people into my neighborhood in the 8th district to write every taxpayer for city stickers and residential zone parkers. So I applaud every young cop stopping cars with bogus plates and busted plate lights. 25% of the time they’re getting a gun, drugs, and/or a tow out of it. I don’t care if it’s a petty amount of week and they just destroy it on scene. Good. Stomp on that shihead’s weed. And tow every car you can. Fuck them. We keep our licenses valid and out shit current. The hood shouldn’t have to? Because they don’t want to be hassled? You’re nuts. If anything younger cops learn how to talk to and handle these shitbirds with their entitled attitudes. “You shouldn’t be messin wit me over weed man. Dis why we don like da poleeece.” Do you actually listen to these people? Have the liberals completely castrated you?

It scares me that cops with over 15 years on (like me) are breaking the balls of new guys. Do you remember what it was like being new? Thank god I had veteran coppers that supported me. Sure they broke my balls when I did something screwy. But they never said I should stop doing my job. They may have rolled their eyes - but they kept it to fhemselves. Because if they weren’t doing shit besides answering calls, they were glad someone else was. It was kind of an understanding and a trade off.

“No one wants to be stopped for revenue”. Me neither bub, me neither. That’s why my shit is legit. Don’t piss on every young guy learning the fundamentals of doing what you don’t want to. Support them.

Somebody else mentioned it on here but what's to keep this shitheads attorney from claiming the guys that took him beat him and robbed him after you handed him over to them.Remember his well being is your responsibility while he's in your custody.

“I remember a time... not all that long ago within the past 8 years when something like this would happen and then the area would get saturated and people would go to jail and the area would shut down. Now.. a bunch of millennials who were all born out of state and out of the city who have their heads buried in their phones drive around aimlessly waiting to pounce on a suspended license or false TRP. And the scary thing is that the kids on the job now with 3-6 and less all think that Thais police work and “getting the bad guys”. It’s actually sad. These “be the change” hires from out of state and the suburbs don’t have a clue. Have no clue how to talk to people and are robots.”

“Show em how it’s done hot shot!...ohh you must be the guy that doesn’t know how to do police work without stop and frisk and has a million CR’s. Thanks for the consent decree and the shitty police work environment old timer!”

Surely the response comment cannot come from an actual sworn officer. No one, even a millennial idiot, would say such absolute drivel. The basis of solid police work is the Terry stop, and CRs were part and parcel to the performance of said police work. And to end by sarcastically thanking the working police of the past for the consent decree and current work environment? Staggering in it’s inaccuracy and sheer stupidity. If you cannot add something constructive, refrain from posting.

Signed,
26 Year Guy

So yo all the SJW out there that says it was the right call just where is your line in the sand. Armed robbery, carjacking, domestics, shots fired, rape? Just what are you going to stand up to the mob for? My guess this is the first of many similar incidents in the community. What happens when that mob wants to gun and wallet or car, you going to give them to them because your outnumbered? You either stand for something or stand for nothing.

Almost all of the CPD districts are named after the neighborhood in which they are located. Why doesn't the City call the 11th District "Garfield Park"? "Harrison" (Street) runs through four police districts.

All this criticism and name calling for cops who got the prisoner taken from them, it could have happened to anyone. It's a tough situation. The crowd could have started a riot. Why get hurt. We need to stick together, but on these comments, with all this name calling and criticism, it's unnecessary. Let's all just work together, is heat so hard? Many of us would have made the same choice. And yes, some would use physical force. But is that a good idea? Let's not judge, let's really just try to help each other out. We can help others without criticism.

This is a very bad sign. Incidents of this kind have become commonplace in Germany and in Australia. In both cases Middle Eastern immigrant clusters are the problem areas; Germany also has similar problems with migrants from parts of ex-Yugoslavia. I read of one incident in which an "ethnic" mob stormed a police station.

In Britain, camps of Gypsies and "Travellers" sometimes defy police.

Such incidents presage serious breakdown of public order.

Just A Civilian (who is worried)

Because they ususally name the station from the street it’s located on. ie wood street (old 13). Monroe (old 12). etc

I moved out of the city 22 years ago to the rural west. No outrageous city stickers, parking permits, and other things like sales tax. When I go the Costco in Missoula Montana with a C note I get to spend $100 when you go shopping in Chicago you get to spend $89. Big difference. Where are the 11 bucks going? You know, to feed, cloth and house these sociopaths. I don't miss Chicago, I don't miss having to be in condition Red every time I walk out my door. I am an old man, but living in a civilized place has its rewards. A friend of the family Judge Wellfield had a heart attack while driving in the Ghetto, the savages swarmed him as he was taking his last breaths, taking anything he had of value. I just read a book called "No Children Here" about two brothers growing up in the Horner Projects. This was written 20 years ago but I'm sure life there and the other projects have gotten worse. I am not a liberal just a realist, after reading this I can see it is a miracle if one of the kids can grow up to be a normal human being. The police can't solve these problems these people hate the police and the police hate them. It is never ending and pathological; I can say one thing, I am not a racist just a realist. I like living where the population is 99.9% white. I walk with two canes, I get tired telling people I don't need help when they see me coming and wait to hold the door at the Post Office. I always thank them and say I am so happy I live in a civilized place. Dealing with life in Chicago is very stressful, no wonder so many police are killing themselves.

I work for the asshole sheriff, Tom Dart. In the jail. 8 uses if force in one shift. A deputy was walked into the ER by 2 sergeants, dripping blood from a head wound. The detainee who inflicted said wound was rolled over to the ER (without a scratch) in a wheelchsir. The streets bleed into the jail, and we're all subject to victimization, all the time, and the city and county would rather seee us dead than to have a precious detainee or offender sustain a minor injury. Done with this place.
