Summer Numbers Coming
- Three people have been killed and at least 12 others wounded in shootings across Chicago since Friday evening.
Friday night saw three people shot, one of them fatally; eight people were shot and one killed Saturday; and four people have been shot on Sunday, one of them fatally.
Just under the average for the past few years, so we're sure Special Ed will be bragging "crime is down" as if an average of one dead and four ventilated is a good thing.

The majority of us are in patrol. It’s time to pull all these people w less than 10 years on the job that are are working inside and throw them to the lions. Good luck young coppers. Get your degrees, give the city what you owe them for said degrees then get out.

Back when I was in patrol, only two things that stopped nightly violence on street corners was a good multiple Homicide of the right targets, or a Federal sweep of known violent offenders involved in gun violence. Usually about 50 bad guys taken off the streets at once. CPD as a rule only takes out one at a time. That doesn't really take a bite out of the crime that Chicago Experiences. Until the Police can again be the "Real Police", as my friend John Rambo says..."You ain't changin' nothing"

Given the unknown impact of the “Consent Decree” on shootings and homicides (apart from the wholly predictable reduction in arrests and proactive policing), I don’t think I’d be making any grand predictions, if I were Police Superintendent. Predictions that “homicides are down” have a nasty habit of twisting around and biting the predictor on the backside.
With the police handcuffed by new rules, the State’s Attorney refusing to charge and prosecute and the local judges refusing to hold people in jail, I expect that this summer will be long, hot and bloody. There’s my prediction - I put it alongside “Special Ed’s” prediction and we can see who was closer to the truth at the end of the year.

Several "helpful" suggestions for your consideration:
*Remember your recent Police Academy Training. As you were taught just let go of your mistrust of the community. You are wanted and welcomed by all. You are there to help people.
* Rumors of the community disliking you or your fellow officers are spiteful and totally uncalled for.
*Always believe in what you are being told by the community.
* If you find yourself in heated discourse with a local citizen, acknowledge your lack of ability to understand the situation and apologize profusely, take no action and leave the scene. Take solus and reflect privately on your situational shortcomings. Try harder next time.
*You should work alone to better hone your trust building skills within the community.
* If you need additional wisdom or advise see your local Merit Promotion SGT. These SGTs often possess mystical powers and great knowledge to assist in your time of need.
* Additionally, I recommend you spend less time in your parents basement playing "Call of Duty" or "Grand Theft Auto". Find a friend or buy a dog. Just get out of the basement.
If you follow these simple suggestions and work alone you won't get your partner injured trying to pull your ass out of a bad situation.
Remember Grasshopper: this is the first step for YOU on a LONG and PIANFUL journey. No one wants to be with you on this painful journey.
Should all else fail: try another line of work you might be better suited for - like selling shoes.
