Fire Rescue

  • Two women were injured, including an 84-year-old who suffered burns to more than 70 percent of her body, when a fire broke out Saturday afternoon at a Lakeview East neighborhood high-rise.

Also among the injured and first to the scene were two Chicago police officers who rushed into the smoke-filled building at 3318 N. Lake Shore Drive, banged on doors and helped the women get out, said 19th District police Cmdr. Marc Buslik.

The blaze started about noon in the elderly woman’s fifth-floor apartment.
They also alerted other residents to self evacuate. A valiant effort under trying circumstances. Well done Officers.

Look at the actions of the Lake County, IL Deputies in Beach Park after a Haz Mat incident as well as the 19th District Officers the past few days. Bravery above and beyond the call of duty. Meanwhile, Congressman Booby Rush maintains that police are the enemy of black people and likens the FOP to the KKK.

Also on the subject of the Chicago Fire Department; Is not telling the Whole Truth a form of lying? Friday night Rahm's "Chicago Values" were on full display, when an innocent woman, shopping, in the company of her two tender age boys was shot dead by a stray bullet. What the Media failed to mention was, a Chicago Fire Department Ambulance in the immediate area of the homicide, CFD, Ambulance # 78, took two bullets in the passenger side door. Fortunately the paramedics did not sustain injury, and the projectiles were recovered from the vehicle. So why wasn't that part of the Breaking News story? Surely the Media saw the report; or is this coverage similar to what they do regarding the Wildings, where they totally suppress the truth, until Crime in Wrigleyville and Boystown, (CWBchicago.com) forces them to tell the whole story! Is the Media protecting Da Machine, and the Tourist Industry? Sometimes, what is Not said speaks volumes to what is said. Stay Safe, Be Very Careful. Baby "G"

Bravo! Bravery above and beyond the call of duty.
But did you know there could be a downside?
In a rust belt city a fireman worked a fire and had some
smoke inhalation; no hospitalization required. Within a
day or so he had a heart attack at home, off duty. You
know this poor soul fought the city for disability and lost.
Screwed by the legal eagles on the payroll (suits). So
please don't think all bad stuff happens in Chicago.
May God bless and keep those who made the sacrifice.

Rumor, did a Sgt on the task force and a P.O. get into it with the Sgt making out a case report against the P.O. The P.O. then getting dumped from OCD. Could this be the reason N. Sanchez got dumped. (Heard the Sgt is Kimble's guy)

OMG, one of the biggest fire responses I have ever seen. Between fire trucks and ambos, probably had to be over 20-30 emergency vehicles there, lined up for a solid 2 blocks from Belmont running north. Nothing but a sea of red lights. I watched it all unfold from inside Belmont Harbor.

Thank you to CFD for all that you do.

Did any of the CSO, armed with their new contract and pay raises
run into the burning building?

Fifth floor apartment?

It is more likely than not that the elevator(s) were not an option and those officers had to run up five flights of stairs.

Their heroism is common among cops who routinely try to do the right thing. But that should not be taken for granted.

They don't work solely for the money. None of the LEOs do. But whatever they are paid, it is not enough.

The shocking part of this story is that someone over 30 years old still lives in that neighborhood! I thought all the carpetbaggers cleared the original residents outta there!

A sad accident. Heroic action by officers. A day like any other.

Now, watch for the "Mandatory Sprinkler Refit" bill to pop up again.
The last time, there was an attempt to backdoor it in via an administrative matter - bypassing the legislative process.
Stuff like hearings, citizen involvement, legislative accountability. Inconvenient stuff.
A multi-billion $$ boondoggle to 'solve' a near-nonexistent problem.
Live in a vintage building? You'll pay the price.

The only way it would be all over the news including world news if the police did the shooting then and only then is it news worthy, otherwise just another day in the killing zones of rapidly failing, rapidly fleeing chiraq! look around we all know how the corruption from the county building, the crooked crimesha, toni, city hall and the rest band together to celebrate the murder,mayhem,etc.. the elected class is protected 24/7, then you look for leadership and value in CPD,and then you laugh as you see eddie and cruisers do nothing but beg Lori to stay. they have done nothing for so many years and lori if she keeps any of them from Eddie down any gold stars she is completely delusional and or paid off already!

So Foxx is pulling a Hillary?
We landed under gunfire, we ducked our heads down
and rushed to the waiting vehicles (folks, back then she
could not only walk, she could run a little bit).
Thank God Kim Foxx outran the gunfire, does not yet
have PTSD from the phone threats, and still has money
for a private security force. And Kim, if you ever get those
nasty letters like Jussie got, please save them for the
Postal Inspectors. Kim, you poor thing, I just hope you
can hold up.
