- A state oversight board concluded that Illinois Supreme Court Justice Anne Burke did not violate judicial conduct rules when a political fundraiser was held at her home for Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle.
The Judicial Inquiry Board completed its review into Burke’s conduct related to the January 2018 fundraiser and “determined to close the matter,” according to a letter it sent this week to political consultant Jeffrey Orr, who had called on the board to investigate.
The panel offered no explanation, stating that it was prohibited “from disclosing specifics regarding its decision, findings or information about its deliberations on any matter.”
A Machine politician being held accountable? Or the Board investigating Anne giving taxpayers an explanation? Not in this corrupt shithole.

- Federal prosecutors want more time to seek an indictment against Ald. Ed Burke (14th) in the corruption case that earlier this year rocked City Hall in the middle of campaign season.
Facing a May 3 deadline to seek what is generally expected to be a wider indictment from a grand jury against Burke, prosecutors asked a judge Thursday for 35 additional days. If the judge grants their request, their new deadline would be June 7.
That means the indictment likely wouldn’t arrive until five months after Burke was first charged with attempted extortion in a criminal complaint. The longtime alderman managed to win re-election in the meantime.
A extension plays both ways. Either the feds are looking to fine tune the indictment or the web has suddenly gotten a bit bigger due to other malfeasance uncovered during the initial investigation.

Lets hope its the latter. Its become so widespread that something needs to be done. The entire state is n the edge of a cliff from these corrupt assholes. You will either be shot or taxed to death.
Feds like to squeeze for something/ someone specific. All goes away, if you play ball. Time will tell, but it is more than this petty crap and has nothing to do with Law and Order.

State funded investigation and the out come is nothing was done wrong yet the media can't get copies of this high speed investigation done by college graduates and all ethical people.

I’m afraid that machine boy and Rahm friend John Lausch may let this go away. I hope I’m wrong but he certainly helped cop hating racist Lori get elected with her bs reformer story. Lausch is like the rest of the us attorneys who refuse to prosecute or even investigate Chicago machine corruption. This includes Ferguson specifically who laid down on the lieutenant scandal to help the black friends of Rahm. Another failed us attorney is Julie porter and Maggie Hickey. Both allowed democratic corruption in the state. And let’s not forget Rahm friend Zach Fardon who allowed the machine to do anything.
No surprises here.
I love how these champions of openness and transparency seem to be able to implement their "code of silence" when it comes to investigating their activities. If you have nothing to hide, a person should welcome full disclosure of their innocence.
As for her husband, hopefully it means more people are jumping the Machine ship and coming forward to save their own hides. Even with all this going on, Arena still tried to take care of his big campaign donors up until his last days in office. Hopefully his stupidity will match his arrogance and be his downfall.

Ms. Burke and her law firm were the legal representatives of the catholic archdiocese of Chicago, dealing with the cover up of child abuse by the priests, assisted by other employees, who looked the other way.
