Guilty!
- A jury on Thursday found Anton Carter guilty of the murder of Chicago police Officer Michael Bailey, who was shot and killed while off-duty in a botched carjacking in July 2010.
Earlier in the trial, the son and the widow of the slain officer each took the witness stand to recall in quiet and deliberate tones the chaos that erupted nine years ago in their own front yard.
Jurors also heard two men — one an inmate at the time — testify to overhearing Carter brag about the slaying.
RIP Officer Bailey. We are truly sorry you were denied the opportunity to enjoy retirement.

May the lord grant you a seat at his table. RIP BROTHER.
Killed because he was a responsible parent.

You know there's BIG value in these clinical trials for
drug companies. The subjects (by definition) are very
limited. Why should the family have to pay out of pocket?
Contact American Cancer Society or National Institutes of
Health. Something seems wrong here. Stage 4, yet the
company wants the last dollar from the family.
There's also a concept in healthcare called "compassionate
use." The cost to the company is negligible, but will yield
reams of data (along with other patients) to refine the drug
and get FDA approval. This is like the IRS asking you to
donate $1.00 to help offset the 18-yr old war in Afganistan.
Michael Bailey was a great guy. He was soft spoken, quick with a smile, hard working, and funny. Loved his family. He was so close to retirement. It was shocking and sad. Thanks Governor Ryan for abolishing the death penalty. Jerk. Not that the tub of lard that occupies the office now wouldn’t have done the same. RIP Officer . You are missed.
Question. Offender had a public defender and was allegedly broke/homeless yet the defense had a Washington university professor on stand who was paid more than $10k for his services throughout trial. Who pays for that????
It took 9 fucking years to bring this piece of shit to justice and no death penalty thanks to George Ryan. No death penalty but killing unborn innocent babies is condoned and encouraged. Illinois has to be the most morally corrupt state. Prayers for the Bailey family for a loss they can never forget. ♠️
Thrilled it's finally over for the family. Having this hang over them along with the death, does unspeakable harm and damage. Seeing bloody images in the courtroom is just as bad as the original crime.
Glad one less feral is off the street. Let's hope he gets a sentence longer than time served and the judge is not a SJW.
God bless the blue and their families.
Finally.
Well put together case by Stover and Murphy.
So terrible a loss.
Disgusting that the family and loved ones had to wait so long for closure.
Two other jury verdicts came back yesterday too.
The Garfield Park Lagoon case-Not Guilty.
A 2014 8th District murder-Guilty.
Still trying to wrap my head around the Lagoon case and the facts surrounding it. Listened to the Pub Defender media statements were insulting.
Here's hoping that you have a miserable rest of your life and may your cell mates thoroughly enjoy your company in the most imaginative ways.
Rest In Peace Brother Mike
9 years ? What is with Cook County justice system ? That’s a ridiculous amount of time for the family to wait . Shameful
Lucky they didn't have the Kamel Harris jury.
From sergeant drive by and now this connections mean everything:

And ahh connected:
The son of a retired high-ranking Chicago police officer, Schuler and his three siblings all became Chicago cops, too. His brother Nicholas Schuler Jr. left the department and is the inspector general for the Chicago Public Schools.
Connected to drumroll please hint security contracts!
Wisconsin has already tried that slug who kidnapped that little girl and killed both her parents. That happened less than a year ago. It takes the CC prosecutor NINE years for a trial on a murdered police officer. Why ?

Even with all the horrors our blue experience, little ones still desire to serve and protect.
Lovely, emotional story. Cute as a button in her uniform with full duty belt.

You did through taxes.
Great closing arguments by Clover/Murphy, I would like to thank them for a great job done, your words were passionate, sincere and truthful. I wish there were more officers there to hear your words. THANK YOU.
Illinois needs a death penalty.

So.... you put together and egotistical jag ( nice ponytail loser) and a low self esteem bar fly.....well you get Jerry Springer , Maury type scenarios. I truly despise this guy, but lady, you needed a lot of help before you made the choice of tangling with this wimp who acts like a tough guy.
The ASAs were Keating, Toller, & Goutus, they did an excellent job!
R.I.P Brother. Justice prevailed! Finally closure to this tragic event.
Nick Schuler—probably the biggest, most arrogant Jagoff, I have ever met on this job. I can only imagine just how bad this Schuler is.
That this took NINE YEARS shows where the vast majority of our criminal problem rests in this country. There are some serious training issues imposed on police that have you all hung out to be human shields for corrupt politicians, but that is secondary to the fact that SPEEDY TRIAL Rights are being violated and ignored (like so many other rights).
Cops actually do a pretty good job catching most criminals, many several times for several crimes, and the judicial branch fails miserably to apply the law to those caught.
Maybe that judicial branch ought to spend more time applying and less time "interpreting"...maybe things like justice wouldnt take NINE YEARS if they would do their actual jobs!!!!
RIP, Officer Bailey. Great job by all involved- Officers, Detectives, ASAs, Victim/Witness, etc. CPD could’ve had a much better turnout to support the family in court.
