What's the deal with these rumors popping up?
- Expect an announcement soon from City Hall announcing the first step in our contract negotiations will be fought in the media with a 2% PAY CUT to the police. Lightfoot believes the police need to prove they EARNED a raise. Her advisors hope this will force out the most experienced and bitter officers and create massive hiring of SJW’S. A pet peeve of the Mayor has also been addressed with all press conferences to be conducted by a uniformed officer wearing their hat. She wants that image to be the face of what she believes are the wrongs of the department. The officers at News Affairs by the way are all White and this is what Lori hopes the public sees. She honestly believes the police are evil.
- Yesterday behind closed doors a package was prepared by Mayor Lightfoot and her closest advisors calling for an astonishing 2% pay cut for all members of the C.P.D. and the immediate cancellation of contracts to purchase new unmarked vehicles for the department. Expect Detectives to be ordered into uniform and put into marked vehicles. The Mayor believes more foot patrols in districts and the dollars saved by not purchasing unmarked vehicles along with the millions saved by pay cuts will fill a budget shortfall and get more bang for the buck with the department. From a close and unnamed source in the know, Rahm disliked and didn’t respect us but Lightfoot hates and actually starts shaking when discussing C.P.D. Guys she hates us and it isn’t a secret. We’d better get to an arbitrator soon.
- Word is spreading all through City Hall that our new Mayor is calling for paycuts to the police and fire. She brought up layoffs but was shot down for now. She supposedly called CPD useless. That is a declaration of war.

Everyone filed for arbitration at this point. Arbitrator has never ruled for a pay cut. Also with all of the contractual changes the city wants in discipline changes the arbitrator will laugh them out of arguments.

Be careful in what you post to these unsubstantiated rumors. Didn't we just go through this with Lightfoot (see above). Ask the questions, who, why, what, when and where in regarding paycuts, detectives being put in uniform et. al. I see nothing to authenticate or corroborate this rumor. Where is the evidence? Maybe the poster is trying to elicit a certain response from you that could backfire. Don't forget this blog is open to anyone and posts may not be in your best interests. Give it some time, if true you will get some leakers if such a meeting was held. And if any of it is found to be true then go for it.

CPD is useless, but CPS is God’s gift to education? Give them 16% over four years and ask for a reduction in salary from police and fire. She’d really be playing with fire and risking letting it all burn down.
Maybe the strategy is that she knows she needs to pay up with new contracts, but doesn’t want to upset all her friends that want to defund the police. So offer them a salary reduction, let them go to arbitration and anything the arbitrator gives is on the arbitrator. LL washes her hands of it and says “I tried to reduce salaries...”
Just remember how often Lightfoot has shown that she hates police...specifically us. So whenever there is an opportunity for us to turn on our back on her, we need to, just like nypd did to their mayor - whom Lightfoot apparently respects and asked for advice.
If anyone should be given a pay cut based on the lack of achievement it should be the 50 thieves in the City Council. And after being in office for a year and failing to balance the City budget and/or diminish crime the mayor should be forced to take a pay cut based on percentage of crime from the prior year and the percentage of the budget/debt increased.
At the end of 4 years of Lightshit being in office she and the City Council will be crying they aren’t making any money. However, the taxpayers will be happy due to the money being saved from slashing aldermanic and mayoral pay.

Another change coming from City Hall. A pilot program will start in September. The idea is to get civilian control to the district level. The Director of Finance or the Director of HR, (not sure which, maybe both) will be made the "Director" of a district. They don't plan on demoting any commander, just do it when an opening occurs. Apparently the mayor had the idea when she was on the police board, but got shot down.

#1 it all started with the illegitimate accusations of racism. From the Northwestern Traffic stop study (which actually negated the accusations didn't it?), to Ferguson, MO, BLM bullshit, etc. In my mind blacks were fucked with in the 50's and 60's most likely . But by the time we were actually accused of racism, they weren't. It's like the big, sloppy government is 2 decades late, and whatever the gov't touches they fuck up irreparably.
#2 ISR's. More specifically, the receipts. You have to give some complete bustout a receipt when you stop them. I still wonder how narcotics can do their job.
#3 audio/video in the squad car. What the hell do you guys talk about for 8 hrs? The Cubs? The weather? Say something cross and you'll be on social media and lose your job. If you have any sort of professional license you'll lose that too. This may not be a big one because the cameras are not always recording right? I'm not so sure of that. (I am not in patrol if that isn't obvious).
#4 body cams. Great for the .0001% of public encounters when you are in a shooting. But what about when you just want to tell some shithead to be on his way in terms that shithead will understand? Think that will play well on social media with the "it can't be" snowflakes? Doubt it. Say something racial and you'll lose your job ... forever. And probably no new job if it follows you. Sub point on bodycams. I remember being on midnights and we would follow each other around all night on each other's jobs. Fuck that now. What if you have a sticky situation? You cannot even talk about what to do to resolve it without it being recorded for the world to see. What if the cop you are backing up does/says something stupid or racial even. Now you have to tell on him/her? Unless he takes money or beats someone unnecessarily, I don't want to be in that position.
#5 ERI. I have heard homicide guys say it's no big deal. You can still speak freely on the ERI, swear, etc. That's great. But what happens when you speak freely and some SJW puts it in YouTube and something you said could be construed as racist? Insensitive? Homophobic?

Not sure if it still holds true but in previous contracts, every civilian would have to be laid off before you can touch the first sworn Officer.
If this is the case, the FOP should challenge the residency requirement. I here every City that had it could not defend it in court. Why not, push back so we can live somewhere with better schools for our kids...

When people negotiate not in good faith, there is a great chance that an arbitrator will see right through it and completey disregard much of the bad faith negotiations. I am retired from COPA and have a 26 year old daughter trying to join CPD and would like to offer some insight into someone I know very well in the Mayor. First,I’m unsuccessfully trying to encourage my daughter to look at a less stressful and less politicized suburban department so I have some skin in the game. Second of all,anyone who has spent time with Ms.Lightfoot knows of her extreme hatred of the CPD. End exempt ranks , plenty of qualified sergeants , Lieutenants that can run units and districts , cut Superintendent pay , before Jodi ,gotta run, Superintendent made under $170,000 . End all sworn assigned to units that should be run by civilians at headquarters,Homan square ,city hall and districts. Put sworn officers back on the streets.
Many duty disabled officers should be forced to work , review , shot spotter , district secretary and many other units .
Those unable to work because of on duty injuries should remain on duty disability withnfull benefits . We are talking about those that can travel , work other jobs .walk , around,drive . We all know a few that can function daily but like the tax free money .
Cut those merit exempt, Lori call them in , give them the last sergeant , detective test , thosethat score under 85% should be gone .replaced with a competent Sgt. Lt . Assigned to a unit , car and the perk is take home car , second watch with weekends off .

This 2% cut, real or imagined, has nothing to do with "racism" or the quality of the police department, but has ALL to do with Illinois'..and Chicago's...outstanding Medicaid debt that a Federal judge order Illinois to pay, retroactively, until it's up to date, with money that even the state's comptroller admitted the state doesn't have.
The cops are just an easy mark as to where to get the dough: call them all "racist" and take their money...no one will care.

Will the Area North Saturation Sgt that claims to know Mz Lightfoot's every move, please stop making more of an idiot out of yourself. Just accept it, she is not going to take care of any CPD so go ahead and study and make Lt on your own!
The Mayor is in the process of hand picking her exempt ranks that will force pay cuts on the rank and file. Part of her belief is that threatening layoffs will scare the young officers into competing for their job and spots. Expect a massive increase in Inspectors that will suspend officers for even minor interactions. She wants to show the taxpayers the substantial savings she instituted by taming an out of control racist police department. Instead of fighting frivolous lawsuits she is now openly working with media outlets to show the police in the worst possible light. She uses the term “useless” now when ever the police are mentioned.
