Don’t, over Memorial Day weekend, don’t intercede. If you see some criminal activity just lay back, do nothing.’ I hope to God that wasn’t true because, man, oh man, if that happened, there’s going to be a reckoning.”
There’s going to be a reckoning, all right, Madam Mayor, it just won’t be the one you thought it would be.
As Rudy Giuliani knew, and as Lori Lightfoot does not, it takes a motivated police force to take the steps necessary to drive down the level of violence seen in Chicago. “Cops count,” as William Bratton has preached for years, but in order for them to make a difference, they have to have the expectation that if they act within the law and department policy, their superiors and their city government will back them when controversy arises. Cops in Chicago have no such expectation, and it appears unlikely Mayor Lightfoot will even try to instill one.
He also points out the failed Cook County "justice" system and Crimesha's criminal neglect of her duties and rightfully asks what's Lori going to do about this since she already torched the entire "honeymoon" period typically afforded to the newly elected.

When the SCC blog publishes funeral notices and
benefits for police widows, I don't see how this is some
sort of employment manifesto instructing officers not to

The fact that Lori lashes out at an easy target indicates she
is still learning and is desperate to find a scapegoat for all

Can anyone in the know here give me/us some tips about how to follow through to see that specific criminal acts, arrests are seriously prosecuted and when guilty, the criminal is punished?
In huge publicity cases like the Jussie Smollett racial hate crime hoax, that was public knowledge and outrage that SA Kim Foxx's office let the perp off without prosecution.
I'm trying to find out what happened to a specific armed robbery, car jacking, high speed car/cop chase that ended with the car jackers side swiping and totaling many parked cars on the U of Chicago Midway 59th street. The perps fled on foot and were captured by both CPD and U of Chicago Police. I suspect SA Kim Foxx's office and chief judge Evans(my former alderman) are just going to let these "youths" off with a... promise to find Liberals to pay free college tuition or something.
Some commenters here suggested I go to CAPS meetings and ask questions, but isn't there some public access FOI Freedom of Information site where Chicago citizens can go to find out what, if anything gets down to criminals that are caught red handed after serious violent felonies like armed robbery and car jacking.

Sure enough, the catalog arrived like clockwork every
month or so addressed to: Bubbles (Last Name of Family).
He told me that if he received additional junk mail addressed
to "Bubbles" at least he would know the source.
It seems to me that Lori is lashing out at her detractors and
trying to "trace back" her problems to a particular organization
or blog. Of course, this is absurd. It shows how unprofessional
and childish she is and screams "I am not qualified for this
position."
Lori, try to get a handle on your emotions and don't take a
national platform to solve your local problems. You wanted
the job, so now work hard every day and don't expect instant
results.
No one had to tell Chicago police officers to "stand down". Cop already know no matter what they do there will be no backing from their leadership or city government. Going fetal is the only way of going home safely and protecting their job. And where does Lori think spreading "rumors" is a good idea. She is a very very smart person. She did this on purpose.
I came on the job in 1991, and over the years you learn to slow down and not be reckless and hopefully show the young kids how to do the job right. It took me about 15 years to listen to old timers and finally figure it out and slow down, and of course, after multiple surgeries and...lawsuits. I still WANT to be that kid with 2 years on that has no fear but I know better. In my current roll call it’s shocking to hear those same kids that SHOULD be running around, disgusted and disheartened already with under 5 years on the street. The very officers that could make a difference have already given up and it spells disaster for communities that so sorely need our help. For a Mayor to hit the ground running and pick up the anti police torch passed from Emanuel it has had a devastating effect. In the academy these kids were told not to listen to the old timers and truly show utter disdain for us, but most frightening you see these kids have already become bitter without reason. A little advice for our current bosses and Mayor, you’d better find some way to INSPIRE and MOTIVATE instead of bad mouth and destroy our morale. Soon the “terrible” generation of police you so badly want gone is going to be and what you have left is clueless how to really police and disinterested. This is a warning and it is scary to see.

You are 110% correct that she will criticize US....because it is what she thinks she can control. We are her servants. What she doesn't understand is that she NEEDS us. She needs us to carry out her mission. If we don't have buy in, she is screwed.

NonPO here: Not aware if the method has changed, however, criminal info used to be available at 26th and California. You'll need their names and criminal to look up information. For federal records: 73th and Pulaski. Again, you'll need the name and date. Bring ID. A FOIA request might work, but it will take time.
A newspaper reporter who wrote the story, might share some information, such as court date. However, they are always under deadlines and most likely won't have time.
I believe that unless you're directly involved, POs can't simply look it up for you. As far as I'm aware, their computer access is tracked and limited to a "need to know" basis. More importantly, even though fetal, they are still wildly busy. (Just look at cwbchicago twitter feed on home page if you think they're doing nothing)
26th and california is a very scary place. Travelling to that location is just about as frightening. A few years ago, before it was open season, during Mayor Daley II's reign, I did research at that location. As a noncommunity woman, they were all polite and respectful. I know God and angels exist and protected me.
May as well try CAPs, I never thought they'd provide much information. Nothing beats a failure but a try.

As someone working for the county probation dept, I can only apologize for the limp, soft ethic of my agency. We are shuttled to meetings and trainings in order to NOT DO A FUCKING THING to anyone who is convicted and not compliant with his sentence. Our management is entirely focused on the warm fuzzy feelgood stuff, rather than the potential for real time for violations or new arrests. I have no issue with helping guys who want to get straight and clean, but when I have no power with the non compliant, whats the incentive for doing right? Jail is no threat, because the judges cant/wont use it. We cant even keep the gun offenders locked up, and its a mystery why people get killed every weekend?

Find out where CPD processess foia request. Give all info you know. You do not have to id to get it. Also FOIA request the DA office.... You might have to pay reasonable copy fees but you are entitled to that info if you want , barring redacted and minors info.
Chicago Mayor states that she wants proactive policing to help reduce crime. Proactive policing went out the window many, many years ago, where has she been. CPD was criticized for being too proactive, you know sweeping corners of gang bangers, drug dealers, hookers, the quality of life stuff. McCarthy demanded proactive policing (everyone gets stopped) and he demanded thousands of gang cards, look where the gang card issue is now going. Citizens, reverends and politicians cried foul and proactive policing was discontinued for the gentler, kinder police...reverends and politicians got what they asked for and crime spiraled out of control. The new mayor (along with media and reverends that seem to dictate policy for the city) led the charge against proactive policing..can't have it both ways. Proactive policing will NEVER happen again because the city, media and politicians will never have the back of the working police officer. Speaking of McCarthy, remember the COMPSTAT meetings where bosses wilted under pressure, seems as if Eddie has had enough of the No-Accountability Mondays, maybe he's tired of getting spanked because of the weekend violence and the dismal murder clear up rate of under 20%. How can Eddie, 1st deputy and other command staff not be held accountable? But they sure know how to promote incompetence and take care of their buddies.

Get some identifiers for the incident (Police RD#, or Offender's name(s)) and go to the Cook County Web Site. Fill out a FOIA request with as much detail as you have/. They have to respond within a reasonable time frame (I believe 7 days).

I have the CPD FOI request site, but from my in person talks with local Chicago Policemen they don't know what happened to the suspects after they were busted and led off in handcuffs.

Have you tried calling CAPS? Or going to the CAPS office? Have you talked to any neighborhood organizations or business owners, Chamber Of Commerce? I hope you find the information you are looking for. Look on Chicago blogs and newssources, like Block Club Chicago, and Heyjackass.com . Good luck.
City has to give you cobra insurance 700 a month for 18 months, you can keep your currrent policy. City only offers this benefit because of federal law. After that you must get your own policy.
