Teachers Union in...Venezuela?
- This spring, the Chicago Teachers Union Executive Board and House of Delegates each unanimously passed a resolution condemning Donald Trump and U.S. intervention in Venezuela. Resources that never seemed to find their way to our classrooms are being used to intervene in the democratic processes of other countries instead.
This blog represents the members delegation of the Chicago Teacher’s Union that are currently in Venezuela to learn from educators and activists on the ground. The rest of this week, we will be reporting on what we learn and see while we are here.
Um, how about union resources that azren't finding their way into representing their membership first of all? Resources that appear to be supporting all out suppression.
Second, what "intervention"? There aren't any US troops there and the economic sanctions are in place against a regime that refused to recognize the results of an election that threw the socialists out.
It's a communist shithole where government officials are running over protestors in the streets with armored personnel carriers...supported by their fellow travelers - the useful idiots of the CTU.
Don't forget to read your property tax bill to see where your tax money is going, via teacher salaries, to support world wide communist suppression of the downtrodden, elections be damned.

Every meaningful Union member or Boss is bought and paid for by the machine... nothing to see here. Our department and Union is no better than the cook county states attorney office. Pritzker controlls it all. Nothing is legit... if you don't think their way you will never have a meaningful promotion.
Communist propaganda pure and simple, Venezuela is a cesspool of violence and hunger. The country has the largest reserves of oil in the world, yet they can not feed themselves. Today I learned without a doubt that CTU is not a workers union but simply and arm of the communist party.
They’re on a spring trip to learn how they can be grounded little socialists, so that they may be better equipped to indoctrinate Chicago children this fall.

Please pay your property taxes on time the CTU needs your corporation in the indoctrination of your children. How the fuck did we let this happen? Please know that many members of the CTU are not on board and are disgusted with their current agenda. Unfortunately, the current leaders were voted in again. Many of us simply want our union to curb their involvement with issues that are not related to the purpose of the union. We would like to see more interest in protecting our jobs and working to improve working conditions, salary, insurance costs, etc. It seems to many of us they have gotten themselves in issues that are outside of the sphere of their purpose, and we are not happy about it.
When is the media start asking ctu Sharkey why any raise below 5 percent is weak and they pay only 2 percent into the pension and we pay 9 !

One of the U.S. policies that hurts the Venezuelan people is the war on drugs. It has driven a million people across the border from Columbia and other countries because they are unsafe and because of the generous welfare enjoyed in socialist Venezuela, overtaxing the system, bigly. While this sounds like a reasonable explanation, one that is both believable and coincidently also true, you will never hear the left cite this as one of their grievances because many of them are either involved, benefit by, use or protect "immigrants at risk" for such nonsense or their Democratic overlords won't permit, repeat or support such claims, because they are all in on it. Drugs come with immigrants and so just suck it up and deal with it.

I am a CTU member, and I fully condemn this action in Venezuela. I've contacted leadership, and the president claims it was "individuals" who went on the trip. However, they used our union name to raise funds to go, they blogged in our name, and they gained entry to the country in CTU's name. They met with Maduro's government officials. This is no "socialist paradise." This is a dictatorship that functions through repression and corruption!! I promise you! Rank-and-file teachers did NOT approve this action! We want no part of it! I'm very angry.
