What's with the Uniforms?
Is this some summer initiative? OR a new direction for the D-Unit?
- For some unknown reason we were notified that as of this morning we in RBT and SVU But Not HGCSU, are in uniform this week. Not sure why but a rumor is the DOJ and Consent decree know it alls, will be in 005 and the Area telling us how to be the Police and Investigate crimes. Maybe you have a source as to why this is happening?

from 35th: "all sworn having start time changed to 0500 or 0700 and heading to...mccormick place." unsure why.. ICE was mentioned, protest anticipated..?
Maybe the powers that be want to relieve you of the stress of making wardrobe decisions. Kind of like with school uniforms. Don’t complain or you might get a ruler across your knuckles.

why doesnt the OP read the order on the AMC..the whole city minus those working in a covert capacity and homicide dics are in uniform.
ICE/Customs and Border Patrol is in town for their annual convention. Its being held at the Merriott, but Groot has told them to go away, we dont want them. She allegedly told them to cancel their convention and don't come. They told her to pound sand. Then she allegedly called the Marriott and told them to cancel the event, thats not something Chicagoans want. Marriott told her no. Its a legal and binding contract. So allegedly, groot hooked up with some activist groups/friends to march on the Marriott and protest the hotel and ICE/CBP. So, allegedly, the Mayor is organizing, coordinating and spearheading the protest and financial disruption of one of the leading industries in the City, based on her personal opinion.

This is city wide until further notice: every weekend throughout the summer, the day tact teams will work 1200-2100 while the night tact teams will work 2100-0600. Everyone is in uniform starting Monday until further notice. Even detectives.
Uniform requirement is due to protests of the US Customs convention being held at the McCormick Place Marriot through Saturday. Basically Detectives will be on standby in case SHTF. Another way to get around manpower shortages.

It’s because of the monitoring team being on-site. It is not a usual practice under a consent decree, but the morons running this department and, in particular, the office of reform management are clueless.
They’ve had a lot of people in uniforms that usually aren’t and no one seems to know why. Tact teams, Dics, I think gang teams too, all in uniform. People have asked and no one can seem to get a straight answer. And to the inevitable cranky dick head who will complain about people with less time on than him, this isn’t people complaining about being in uniform, they’re just curious as to why. As there’s always a reason to why. 4th of July, Memorial Day weekend, Labor Day weekend, big protests planned, etc. but now there’s none of the usual reasons and no one will give a straight answer, so what’s the out of the ordinary reason? SCC posted about the DOJ and consent decree jerkoffs, that’s something I think coppers would like to know.

They’ll be fine. Half the team will come in at 2100 and leave at 0100 the other have half will come in at 0100 and leave at 0400. They don’t swipe.
CBP is going to be presenting at a symposium this week at the the marriot marquis. Big protests planned.
The major Ice Raids are happening that day, they are just being cautious with standby teams.

The way the tact officers dress these days, they should be in uniform, all of the time. It is not a covert unit and they do not do any " undercover work". Apparently ICE and Border Patrol are having a conference at McCormick place and they want to have everyone in uniform in case mass protests and or civil disobedience occurs just like the guy with the guns and explosives at the Portland ICE facility a couple of weeks back. why didn't district commanders assign the 6 - 9 police officers assigned to CAPS Office to report in uniform and patrol hot spots from 1400 to 0900hrs , i'm sure they could get CAPS work done from 0630-0900hrs when the second watch hits the street
CAPS officers work approx 4-5 hours on a long day and none is enforcing laws

I’m tired of whiny ass detectives complaining about having to occasionally be in uniform. Last I checked u can give up that position and go back to patrol. Also not sure who the “coward ass bosses” are but when the 1st deputy sends out an order it’s not open to interpretation.
This is all for an anticipated protest against DHS.
Everyone is in uniform, but remain doing their desk job. Brilliant move there big Ed.
The clothes you wear don't dictate what kind of police work you do. You dicks get premium pay too. I have seen great arrest done by uniformedbeat cops. I think in the summer detectivesshould be on patrol ad response cars and do paper if needed. If they call you for a dicks job then you go to that. Too much dead weight on this job, poor district people cant get time off.
DOJ has nothing to do the consent decree. They said they would not pursue a decree with Chicago. This is a self imposed decree by Chicago.

Caps officers should be in full uniform and work 2100-0600hrs . Less time to shop , maybe they could make a few arrests , write a few tickets ,isr’s , blue cards. You know what I mean. Some poleece work
