Guilty

Great job by the prosecution making sure the jurors understood EXACTLY what this asshole was being charged and tried for:
  • A Cook County jury on Friday evening convicted a homeless man who’d defended himself against first-degree murder and aggravated battery charges in the slaying of an off-duty Chicago police officer.

Prosecutors alleged that Jovan Battle, 32, pointed the gunman to a car on March 23, leading him to open fire and fatally shooting Officer John Rivera and wounding one of three friends with him.

“But for this guy, this wouldn’t happen,” Assistant State’s Attorney Patrick Morley told jurors earlier Friday in closing arguments. “ … He’s the glue that made it all happen.”

Jurors took little more than two hours before finding Battle guilty on all counts: first-degree murder, aggravated battery, and three counts of aggravated discharge of a firearm. He faces a sentence of up to 150 years in prison.
And he better be serving all 150 years.

Any repercussions for the judge who gave this animal probation/ electronic monitoring after he had committed a domestic plus home invasion? And had a history of violent behavior. IMO that judge is just as much fault for the officers death by not doing his job right and letting loose this criminal on the streets.

Wow a community member actually tried and convicted in crook county? Amazing! Sure this isn't Lake county?

He'll get the minimum, serve 1/2, clog up the courts with appeals, and get free everything the rest of his life.

At least the conviction sends a strong message to others.

The spin doctor failed in front of the jury:
"He said “GD” stands for “Growth and Development,” and that it is an organization, not a gang"

However, if this ass brain ever gets out of jail he can work for city hall. A talent for distortion in that magnitude could come in handy.

Groot has already taken a cue from Jovan Battle to issue this statement:
"Insofar as GD (Gangster Disciples) is a self development & educational 501(c)(3) organization, I now inform all in Chicago that property tax increase is clarified to mean that collected taxes are everyone's property - yours, mine, all of ours- and the increase is a gain to the value delivered to everyone's shared property which is a beautiful and crime free Chicago. When your tax bill as a homeowner personally goes higher and higher, just know this is a win for all of us collectivly in beautiful and crime free Chicago. Wilmette will however choose how Chicago shall spend all the collected tax money. I hope I did not say that out loud"

With all the talk of "hate crimes" etc,. I am very, very serious that the killing, wounding of, or even pointing a weapon at any officer (including K9's) should be a hate crime. (These bastards seem to have no fear, no God, no conscience.)

You people do a thankless job, are hung out to dry by the media, judges, politicians, rev-runds, etc. These people should be charged with negligence in their jobs. Their deliberate bashing of an honorable profession is, to me, sickening!

Too, if that old law from that old "useless book" was adhered to, "Thou shall not kill," you wouldn't need the 40000 other laws on the books. Really simple.

NOT ILLINOIS. NOT LAW.

ot, how does this one get a foid card and ccl with this attitude?

Houpe followed the man as he got into a car and began to drive away, then turned to her sister and demanded, “Mickey, give me my s---,” prosecutors said.

Houpe’s sister allegedly handed her a pink CPX-1 handgun manufactured by SCCY Firearms, which calls itself the “King of Concealed Carry” on its website. Police said Friday that Houpe had a valid FOID card and a license to carry a concealed gun.

did the other beauty have a foid/ccl as well crimesha?

is a pink gun considered a lady's gun?

that asswipe reporter commenting on a website was way out of line. should the question be how the shooter got the ccl instead?

Jurors recently in Cook County sent a clear and loud message that it is NOT OKAY to murder Chicago Police Officers.

Kim Foxx and Mayor Lightfoot were quick to hold a press conference and remark: "Lets not send mixed messages here! Don't be hasty now. We all need to work to be congruent and send the same clear and steady signal..."

Good job jurors. Fuck you Kim and Lori.

Also ASA Morley had some partners: Andy Varga, Nina Ricci, and Sarah Karr. All the prosecutors did a great job on this case. Did anyone catch Kim Foxx' press conference after this tremendous win? I didn't see it covered anywhere.
