- Mayor Lori Lightfoot campaigned on a promise to raise the boot threshold, stop booting for non-moving violations and eliminate a hefty chunk of red light cameras at 149 intersections if those cameras were used for revenue — not safety. The City Council has already approved the first installment of Lightfoot’s plan to go easier on scofflaws at a first-year cost of $15 million.
Against that backdrop, the latest numbers on booting and ticketing should come as no surprise. Based on the first six months of this year, the city is on a pace to write 13.4% fewer parking tickets; 2.28 million tickets were issued during 2018, compared to 988,404 written through June 30 of this year.
Booting is headed for an 8% decline — from 59,817 during all of 2018 to 27,529 during the first six months of 2019.

It would be interesting to see a map of the boot locstions before and after Lori was installed as Mayor. One can only wonder what Community has been spared the inconvenience of following the Laws the rest of civilization has to follow. If the fines and penalties are too high for some to bear, then lower the fines for all.
Anyone old enough to remember when you could just park in the loop and drop a few dimes in the meter? No 'app' or credit card required. Before the phony 'terrorism' crap reduced the quality of life while picking our pockets further? How about going to the airport, parking at departures for a few minutes while you helped your folks carry their luggage in? It was nice to greet arriving friends at the gate- might even have a smoke. Better have your Real ID ready for the TSA to make you take off your shoes and belt. How humiliating and debasing is Security Theater.

All of those shortfalls in the budget will be made up with YOUR tax dollars. I don’t see any money going to our pensions? So who really matters - definitely not the working class. Thus, the reason we are held hostage by the residency clause.
I’m sure all the people who drive and park legally appreciate this. I know it makes me all warm inside knowing these assholes can keep doing what they do with no repercussions. Is this a Kim thing?
Property owners will make up the difference, with property taxes, water bills and building code violation fines if it is a rental property. Of course additional costs to landlords get passed on to renters, result the city looks good with less tickets on folks and landlords get demonized for having to raise rents.

Yesterday Lori stated the groveling and shoveling more money to the urban terrorist organization holding the "children," hostage. Now when they get 16% we should get at least 20% because we put in 7 1/2% more into our pension and Lori you say your for fairness correct? If Chicago's yellow signal timing was set correctly camera revenue would drop below the cost of the RLC systems. Fixing yellow light timing to that of the 1970s MUTCD/ITE guidelines has been proven to eliminate red light running unless there is some inherent design problem with the intersection. That would simply leave nailing people for not making a complete stop for right-on-red is which is proven not to be a safety issue.
RLCs are simply about the attempt to create a tax other people pay for safety can be achieved to a much better degree without them.

For a couple of reason. First the 3% COLA is on the % of the last 4 years salary and only anywhere from 50 to 75% of that average salary
Second is that the 3% is not compounded so your first 3% COLA remains the same each year for the rest of your retirement. Remember that first say $2000 COLA might be alright now, but 10 years down the line a $2,000 raise might not seem like a lot.

More reasons for the unconstitutionality of the residency rule. Not represented with my values. Have to deal with being held hostage by the social crusaders so called teachers. I mean really. If GM went on strike before returning do they get to demand days get added to each month so they don’t lose wages. Just cause teachers only work 9 months out of the year they have all that room for the extra days. How about give them those extra days as prep time. Demand they work 2080 like the rest of the city workers/the country. Instead of 1200 hours a year. They could do prep time all summer and for all the breaks. F this place and f those spoiled ass overpaid underworked teachers.
Guess the hiring freeze is over. Since they are gonna hire all those nurses and social workers to not teach.

COLA is 3% for retirees Mine and all my friends is 3% unless maybe you retire at 50 or were born after 1966. Not sure about those changes
