Apparently some PO's have been affected by this?
You'd have to be a real idiot to be ducking out of a time-and-one-half gig, but you have to love how someone like CKS is suddenly a rule-follower, following rules that aren't even in existence, to the detriment of officers getting paid on time without even a cursory investigation.

Well I swiped in @ 1553 on o9 oct 2019 and swiped out at 1224 0n 10, pand mine is stilled not approved
either way, one is still obligated to get paid for their time. Cut the bs until the system is in place and works. easy fi is refuse to work v.r.i. i haven't done a day. and guess what, they cant even staff my watch with enough beat cars. Now who helped contribute to that. I know it is still their fault and dont agree with being hourly, but o.t. sounds like a fair compromise to only use the time clock.

Actually she is not approving slips if there is any kind of typo or mistake. She is also not approving the slip of your supervisor that night. She doesn’t tell you what she did or why she did it. She also doesn’t respond to emails. I’m a sgt and I’ve stopped working VRI because I can’t take her bullshit anymore.

Different rules for different folks is alive and well at VRI. All the entitled people ducking out while the others swipe out and stay the full shift like we’re suppose to. It’s gotta be less than half swiping out with the rest of us lately. Hopefully they all get slapped.
Check the OT on clearnet. There are multiple OT reports in rejected status by CKS with comments about swipe reports that do not correlate. Just an heads up, she's also seeing where people are swiping out at. If it isn't 011, she's not approving.

They still have to follow general orders etc. if we had an outside person/entity representing us that we paid for they wouldn’t have the fears that our current regime had and could really get out there and say and do thing without fear of employment repercussions. The FOP is fighting with 2 hands tied behind their backs. What’s happens if they lose the next election? They’re back on a beat car somewhere. U think they’re going to fight their asses off against a city knowing that same very city controls their future work environment and job opportunities? It has become totally evident that we need representation from an outside source. The experiment of Policeman with no labor training or union background moonlighting as union leaders has failed.

Come on, that is a weak argument. You don’t have to sit in the parking lot and wait until it’s time to leave. You can wait in a “secure” 011 district where there are many armed police officers like yourself. There is a lunch room with vending machines, tables and chairs, steps away from the radio room in 011 to wait until you want to swipe out. WTF, feel like we work with a bunch of children.

Unfortunately the city shouldn’t have even implemented swiping without first negotiating with the lodge. CPD is salaried, not hourly. So unfortunately your little rant only screams that you either A.) Are a kiss up who would throw your partner under the bus for a uniform violation, B.) Are willfully ignorant and blindly follow orders without any kind of care, or C.) both.
Learn the contract and your labor laws before you blindly defend the department. Trust me, they won’t return the favor to you.

You would think that this should be the case, however you forgot to mention coppers young and old will not make a decision on their own. They call for a supervisor every time they have to make an arrest these days. I known I know Everybody is second guessing their actions and they ain’t doing shit. I’m not saying you have to go out there and do stops and be proactive but you do have to respond to your jobs and take police action. It’s going to be a long 20 plus years for a lot of you. I don’t see how anyone can cry about this. The order says you must swipe in and out at all times at your unit of assignment It’s been told to us dozens of times. The order doesn’t say, “the rules don’t apply to the special” It’s about time the rules are enforced(hopefully) but the history of the CPD is a two tiered system of rules. They ones not complying with the order should be banned from VRI. We’ll see.

You are only half right. Once you are assigned to the FOP unit 541, you are free to say whatever you want. Any complaints would have to wait till you came back to your original unit. I am told they are not even subject to random drug or blowing.
There is ZERO excuse to not speak up except for the fact kiss asses have held the top spot forever. They protect their own asses so that they land softly when they get voted out. How pays? The members every time. When is the last time anyone up there ever received any real suspension time? Most have been taken care of their whole career.

Correct me if I'm wrong, I'm not claiming to be totally correct. The FOP never agreed or negotiated this swipe policy. It was just implemented citywide without their input after a pilot program, which didn't keep accurate swiping percentages, finished . So any boss that wants to discipline you, in any capacity, should be met with a grievance. I know that situation is dicey. No one wants to name a boss. 100% understandable. And like it was mentioned in other comments, this new policy is not tied to payroll. If the Dept wants to tie it to payroll then all overtime, in which you swipe out, is pensionable. A couple cities already won those lawsuits regarding the swiping out on overtime. So if this policy gets into our next contract then our beloved Union should start the lawsuit for that now pensionable earnings.

You are only half right. Once you are assigned to the FOP unit 541, you are free to say whatever you want. Any complaints would have to wait till you came back to your original unit. I am told they are not even subject to random drug or blowing.
There is ZERO excuse to not speak up except for the fact kiss asses have held the top spot forever. They protect their own asses so that they land softly when they get voted out. How pays? The members every time. When is the last time anyone up there ever received any real suspension time? Most have been taken care of their whole career.

CPD is a hybrid of salary and hourly.
You have a BASE salary based on seniority.
Add to that uniform allowance and duty pay.
Add to THAT any DAILY hours worked beyond your regularly scheduled hours is time and a half.
In the private sector as a salaried employee you do not get OT for hours worked beyond legally sanctioned hours, you get bonuses...or commissions....or company percs based upon where you work.
Basically you are compensated.
As we are.
Only differently.

Say it one more time for the people in the back please! I love how people don’t know labor laws, let alone their own contact. It’s called the Fair Labor Standards Act. Thats why we get paid an hourly rate for overtime at time and a half. The short and simple of it is that salary employees, unless specifically bargained/specified are entitled to time and a half pay at an hourly rate in excess of 40 hours worked per work week. That’s why there’s different hours on different pay checks to even it out. The city can’t do that with legit OT though.
So for those thinking we are hourly...again READ YOUR CONTRACT and LEARN YOUR JOB!

Over the 28 police period, allowed by FLSA, you work the amount of hours listed on your paystub, or exchange time due or contractual days off in lieu of working that time. You are paid or compensated for every hour you worked and your pay or accrued time is reduced for every hour below 171 in the period you take off. If you were truly a salaried employee, the restrictions on when you swipe in and out (+/- 7 mins) would be irrelevant because you would be paid the same regardless what time you swiped. As an hourly employee, if you can show you were working after your designated swipe time, you MUST be compensated. That is why OT needs approval.
