#1 for Rats...Again

  • #1 Chicago
  • #2 Los Angeles
  • #3 New York City
  • #4 Washington, DC
  • #5 San Francisco
You'd think with all the medieval diseases appearing on the left coast that LA or SanFran would take the top spot. Nope, Chicago for something like the fourth or fifth year in a row. It's a wonder we haven't seen the Plague here more often.

Funny how Chicago ranks ahead of NYC when NYC actually piles garbage bags on the streets at night b/c they have NO alleys. What’s Chicago’s excuse? After I leave my office downtown, there’s a small grassy area I walk through and I always see rats running across the sidewalk in front of me at dusk. Just a couple of blocks from the train station. Unbelievable! I can see how rats are in alleys but now they are everywhere in the open!

When the hoodlums invade a neighborhood, the first thing they do is throw trash everywhere, empty the garbage cans and leave the tops off to encourage more rats. Check with 311 for calls for baiting, anywhere you see an increase in requests for baits for rats is an area the hoodlums from North Lawndale have now invaded and are demanding money and cars from residents. The Pete's Fresh Mart on Madison and Western has been hard hit by the hoodlums who shoplift and vandalize their stores too. They now have armed security.

so he can stock the rat redemption centers drop boxes.
He's like a heart surgeon. He'll need a tact team to
retrieve the pelts and tag them. Then we will have a
rodent demographer do a statistical study on the kills
from each neighborhood. Anybody taking the law into
their own hands will meet the full force of prosecution.
There will be no bail for renegade rat shooters. Don't
even think about poison. Post mortems will be performed
in any suspicious rodent death.

What's the cause?
Abandoned buildings and new construction. People not picking up dog crap and being slobs in general. Ripping off lids on garbage cans to throw pile more garbage.
You can actually smell them if you walk down Cermak Road between Western and Damen.

Thanks Danny.Thanks Byron.

Number one for rats and according to Allied Van Lines number 5 for people whose income is above 150K leaving city. State is Number 2 for same criteria. Lots of real money leaving state and more to come once all the new taxes take hold. People with these incomes have options and are not stupid to keep paying the ever raising taxes.

There's no source for that supposed list, and no explanation of what the rankings mean.

Number of rats per square mile? It seems unlikely that the three largest cities in America are the top three.

Total number of rats? That would make more sense, but then how is San Francisco on the list, when it is far smaller than the Big 3?

What cities are considered for the list? Is East St. Louis eligible? Or Texarkana?

Also, what is the number for each city? What's the actual difference between #1, #2, #3, and the rest of the list?

Just A Civilian (who doesn't trust numbers without susbstantiation)

1. construction/demolition
2. vacant/abandoned properties and lots
3. substandard city services
4. lack of enforcement by streets/sanitation especially of food businesses that leave garbage open
5. ppl don't care - garbage everywhere, trash containers wide open
6. old/decaying infrastructure (anyplace you see sidewalk/street buckling or cracked you're probably less than 25 feet from hundreds/thousands of rats)
