The CTU is making preparations to lose the tenuous support they currently have by inconveniencing thousands of Chicagoans:
- As Chicago Public Schools announced the cancellation of a seventh day of classes, hundreds of striking educators and support staff filled the auditorium at the Chicago Teachers Union’s headquarters Thursday to receive civil disobedience training.
The training session signals that members of the CTU and SEIU Local 73 are planning to escalate their aggressive demonstration efforts — and potentially face arrest. During the presentation, led by an SEIU Healthcare executive and a staffer for Sen. Bernie Sanders’ presidential campaign, the strikers were coached on blocking traffic and shutting down building lobbies.
One reader theorizes the teachers are going to assist the anarchists and antifa pussies to block traffic in and around downtown when Trump is here. The Department will probably announce day off cancellations after 1700 hours today.

Wow, I went to sleep and woke up in Seattle, or is this Portland? Hard to tell these days. I can guarantee you I will go to sleep one of these nights and I'll wake up where they don't look at these "heroes" as heroes. Like another state.

Lightfoot needs to hold firm and not give in. The teachers are losing so much support and their losing motivation. Monday morning the teachers are going to block interior routes into the loop to show who's boss. They also are being told to target those working in the financial sector by blocking entrances to certain buildings. Being told that teachers will NOT be arrested under any circumstances unless approved by on scene supervision. This is coming straight from city hall.
I have no problem arresting any teachers!

My guess is they are holding out until President Trump arrives on Monday for the Police Chief’s Conference to draw him in also and to try to embarrass him on national news. Regular blog reader here and I have to chime in on this. All the guys in my family have been in labor unions forever. Some of them helped start the labor unions. But I’ve got to tell you, my CTU girlfriends, as much as I have loyalty to organized labor, are getting on my last nerve to the point where I have to bite my tongue while they’re spewing their bullshit. No other labor union gets offered what they’ve been offered, and the reason they are sticking their noses up in the air is because their leadership has become a bunch of SJW Communists. Their unreasonable bargaining behavior is what gives Unions a bad name. It’s time they get a dose of reality. Lori should let them strike all year. Problems always have a way of working themselves out organically, if left alone long enough. Power is fleeting. And changes hands often.
I find it interesting, that Bernie Sanders and Pocahontas rushed to the teachers side to help organize and plot to disrupt the work day of thousands of Chicagoans, but not a word that CPD has been without a contract much longer and was offered much less. If they don’t want other trades crossing their picket lines, shouldn’t they be voicing concern for ALL workers who are without a contract?

As a (not CTU) teacher, I find it very unlikely teachers will do anything over the weekend for which they are not expressly receiving pay. Having worked in the real world before becoming a teacher, I can tell you (with very few exceptions) they are the laziest bunch of humans I’ve ever worked with in my life.
You couldn’t have time this more perfectly. I worked VRI last week and last night. There is a movie being shot across the street from the Chicago Hilton. The subject matter has to do with 1968 riots. I called them the riots because when I first got on the job there was still coppers on the job that worked the night the protesters went apeshit. One copper his name was Rick B. He was a solid guy. He told us that he was in the Academy during 68, he was sent out to the ninth district demand a radio and a desk. He related a lot of us guys who work at 35th and lowe with him that he seriously thought about quitting at night. He related that he heard copper screaming for their lives over the radio. These teachers are nothing more than Comie American hating, Police hating , Trump hating slime. Law and order. Law and order. Two words you will never ever ever hear a democrat say. At least old man daley gave the order...The order is giving...shoot to kill!

This has nothing to do with the teachers. For all we know school will be back on Monday. This is because of the activist assholes that will be protesting Trumps first visit to Chicago. You know, the groups that preach tolerance, inclusion, etc. The ones that also have the bumper stickers that say, “COEXIST” If the teachers are still on strike they’d be foolish to join them, risking their cause and losing the little support they may have left. God bless the CPD that have to work on Monday. For the people who have to navigate to their offices during protests - you are held in high regard. It is mainly well behaved college kids who protest where I work but the CPD always shows professionalism and everyone feels safe because they are keeping everything orderly. I hope the teachers can behave as the college students do which is a very sad comment. Please know CPD is appreciated - you do a fantastic job for these protests.

Taxpayer here. Lightfoot should wait them out and even pull her offer from the table. CTU does not have public’s Support this time around. This is not for the children and they are well compensated as it is. To regular working and retired folks, they are viewed as greedy and even thuggish in their antics. They should also be paying more into their pensions. This is bullshit and the taxpayers are fed up. Order them back to work and then fire the ones that do not go back. PLAY HARDBALL MAYOR! Because taxpayers do not have any more money to cough up for this screwed up city.

Great idea. Timing is everything. There are a lot of people who are not happy with the CTU right now. This is a perfect time to wait them out. When they don’t get their paycheck and if after 30 she makes them purchase health insurance their union won’t be looking so good
They have some followers but everyday the CTU is making more enemies and the citizens are starting to find out who they are and their agenda

Pull all offers. Watch how fast the CTU falls apart. Offer 2% for each of the 5 years and an increase in the pension payment of 6% more. Tell the city taxpayers how much it will save the city. Time to play dirty.
