This after Special Ed spent part of the day telling the press that he was insisting IAD (staffed by his people and a hotbed of exam cheaters) would be conducting an investigation that had pretty much no evidence to go on (due to his misconduct). But don't worry, everything would be on the up-and-up, right after IAD spent Friday night going over body cameras and in-car cameras without any sort of oversight.
Groot blew that narrative out of the water. At that point, Special Ed should have resigned. But Groot is playing games Saturday, probably needing something to distract from the teachers:

So, since IAD will spare no expense of manpower or resources to conduct a thorough investigation of Special Ed’s DUI, how many coppers will Special Ed recommend for suspension/separation for similar acts, while being investigated?
I used to think that Johnson was locked into his post due to the powers that be knowing some terrible secret from his past, but I'm coming around to the notion that he's just there for the fortune and glory. A Rahmulan blackmail conspiracy is totally believable given the shady operatives involved, but Lori and co. aren't nearly clever enough to be a real Chicagoland Godfather.
Race-hustling Lightfoot must be beside herself over the fact that sooner or later she's going to have to launch a black police chief for various and sundry epic fails. Should be entertaining, at least, though I stand by my assertion that whomever she chooses as the next one will be worse.

News Flash for any morons that believe that sort of bullshit: Ed is getting paid a large salary to be the face of this department and to specifically NOT get himself stuck in situations like the one he got caught in. He has his own driver for fucks sake! I know it's kind of asking a lot for the Superintendent of police to not pass out in his car drunk but come on. And if he was acting belligerent on scene as rumor has it then double fuck him.
And can some of you retirees please lay off with the whole 'back in my day we would have just drove him home.' Yeah, no shit you would have. Try doing a lot of the scenarios you would have handled your way, back in the day, with a body cam on you in this current climate. You would be out of your element if you worked the streets now with your old way of doing things and would either end up in line at the unemployment office, or in the chow line in prison.
Don't anyone feel bad for Big Ed. I'm sure it's a safe bet that he didn't fight too hard against the department having its members where body cams. The city got what it wanted and it's getting uglier by the recording faster and faster then they could have possibly imagined.

The officers will take all the blame for failing to render aide, not do a standard field sobriety test, letting him drive home etc. Ed can’t even speak coherently and yet is representing the entire CPD...unreal. He cannot be fired but will be forced to resign although he should of his own free will if he had any common sense. The city is sunk. I retired almost 5 years ago and I hate to tell you, the shit stays with you for awhile. Now I read the blog a couple of days a week just to keep up and because I will forever remain concerned about my brothers and sisters in blue.
But trust me, your time on the job will pass by fast (as will your life) so try to make the best of even the shittiest situations. Don't go flying to anything...it's usually all bullshit anyway. On the way to calls, take a moment to think about your best options in responding.
The more you can laugh through all the bullshit and corruption the better. Approach each day with a couple of key objectives: 1) keep yourself and your partner alive and out of trouble, 2) have some fun despite all the bullshit, and 3) don't take any of it seriously and know you will still have a long life to live after you hit your 20 or whatever.
Stay safe all. The retirees think about you more than you know. Maybe SCC should have a thread (?) (topic) about the best advice retirees would give to those of you still on the job, and those of you who still need a wake up call.
What do you think SCC? Maybe on a slow day? You guys are, and will remain, the best reporters and commentators around.

Is it because Johnson humiliated Ferguson who had to apologize to him?
FYI Ferguson and Fran Spielman are really close, and Ferguson /Lightfoot are BFF's, so don't think that the Scum Times or Inspector General's office are going to back down from this one.

The Mayor will now have her way with the CPD. Things that Supt. Johnson kept at bay will now become reality. Homan Sq. Units will only be a memory and those hiding and scamming there will be forced into districts where they will work a full tour for the first time in years or even decades for some. The overtime issues will be solved by simply ending the abuse or worse yet for some who are not getting the message. Wake up folks, a new day is dawning at the CPD.

Hopefully nothing happens to the responding officers I heard they were young kids. I kinda see why they didn’t dui him they would have a big ass target on their backs for the rest of their careers. Atleast they called a supervisor. So what ever happens the supervisor gets the heat. He/she has more experience on the job to handle wtf happen that night.
