Independent Media Questions

Obviously, no one can count on the local media actually exploring the myriad of Rule violations that seem to have occurred the other night, but some independent media have noticed the obvious double-standard:

Let's be honest - the chances of an actual "evaluation" of Special Ed isn't likely - at least not on a voluntary basis.

I bet Eddie wishes he just went home after work. Murder rate not going to get him, drinking and driving did!

An open letter to Supt. Johnson,

Boss,

I told you if you ever needed a ride just call.

I would make sure we make good time getting you home.

Even if you're in Indiana.

Eddy Wod.

P.s, I've been trying to call, can't get through?

Sounds like Eddie was celebrating the Rialmo verdict.

It made the community happy. Which is all he cares about.

To be fair, the average person is not getting a DUI when asleep at the wheel in Chicago. Most don't even get DUIs when they crash...or spill beer on the copper.

Ed should not be allowed to continue. He must be held accountable. The city and Department needs and deserves better.

Not knocking the CPD, but all this quarterbacking about what did happen, what should have happened, and how it should have been handled is secondary. You take CPD out of it and you can be sure that if he had been pulled over by the Illinois State Police, the Superintendent would have been charged, arrested and given a court date. Does that put it in perspective? He was DUI plain and simple.

Not a LEO.

Fuck Eddie. Rialmo gets fired for doing nothing wrong and here he is passed out at the wheel. Listen, everyone here has had a few pops and drove, but you don’t get blacked out can’t stay conscious drunk and then drive. I really feel bad for the beat coppers who showed up to a call for service and run into a buzz saw of their superintendent passed out drunk and the wheel. They got stuck between a rock and a hard place. A complete lose lose situation. But in the end, they’ll be the ones to pay the price while all the bosses who had their hands all over it get off free.

Drinking with anti-rejection medications for a kidney his son donated? Hmmmmm. Just how important IS alcohol to the Superintendent?

One rule for me another for the. Anyone else well maybe anyone except police and connected assholes don't get a pass. Its just a perk of the job, no biggie it's been that way as far back as I can remember. Only in this case The Toad was looking for an excuse to dump Eddie and he just gave it to her. Way to go fat head!

What I believe he meant by “technical problems” is that as soon as the lawyers get involved they start questioning every detail of the arrest so they can justify a dumb ass defense like “it was my medications.”

In my career as a substance abuse counselor I have seen people charged AGAIN years later for Reckless Homicide after the victims they maimed died and medical examiner signed off that death was the eventual result of the DUI crash. This was AFTER they went to prison, did treatment, and met all conditions of their court ordered supervision or parole. There is no reason why the Superintendent can’t be charged after the fact.

If the State wants to get you, they’ll get you no matter how long it takes.

So you have the Superintendant of a major City found passed out at the wheel, admits to the Mayor he had been drinking, allowed to drive back home, no SFT test, no breathalyzer, no competent boss on scene, no nothing. Ok Ed, now you call for an investigation but yet to prove your innocence you should have demanded an instant breathalyzer test at the minimum to prevent ANY speculation BUT YOU DID NOT..so stop hiding behind your gold stars and be a man for once and lead by example...quit now! Mayor, grow a pair of balls and for once ACT like someone in charge. Or perhaps Trump will call and say "YOUR FIRED"!

I don't watch TV. I though that guy was David Letterman
without the beard before I played the video.
It's Lester Munson.
But what I want to say here: fantastic and impartial coverage
by SCC in a whirlwind 48-hr period. This blog won blogger
of the year back in the day. How can we nominate it for 2019?
You know, without the independent media, we are just Russia
in this country. The Media Moguls (ALL owned by mega-
corporations listed on the NYSE) tell us the narrative they are
pushing at the time, most often driven by special interests.
Ben Franklin, above all, wanted to be known as a printer on
his headstone. SCC, it should be noted, is a proud blogger.
(Same thing in this day and age. The old school guys were
know as "pamphleteers", as Mark Levin will be happy to confirm.)

Well who’s running the ship?

The Superintendent is in the bag, so is the 1st Deputy taking control?

Transplant, high blood pressure, over weight and now alcohol, you just cannot write this crap up?

And does anyone recall last Saturday Morning with Eddie and Black caucus having a news brief showing how much he has
done for CPD since becoming Superintendent? Just one week ago and it seems like years ago!

Bet the black caucus is trying to find the next Superintendent?

Lester Munson was one of the first people to trumpet Lori’s credentials in running for Mayor in the Winter of 2017. Would be interesting if someone were to flip that script on him. He also lives in the far Western Suburbs. Just giving you some background.

With no breathalyzer, or any type of testing, done that night?
Why even go through this farce of a sham investigation.?

Now the ball is in Groot’s court.

I am grateful to the citizen who called it in. I am glad he did not have a crash, hurt someone or plow into the side of a building. Either he is not man enough to tender his immediate resignation, it never occurred to him or the Mayor refused it while she finds a new flunky (with a side helping of an ultra quick unfounded cr, unless you are the unduty on scene- them folks got some explaining to do).

I stopped watching channel 11 " Chicago Tonight" a few years ago. They bring on anti police types, ( Mary Mitchell) and sports writers who know nothing and they bash the police. Never any comment on real issues. I do not give them my money and I do not watch the show. Sad, for it really was a great program years ago.

Can't demand a breathalyzer until he has been placed under arrest and charged for DUI. Case is weak if your only PC is asleep at the wheel. Could ask for a preliminary portable breath test but there is no penalty for refusal of that and try to find someone who has one and is certified with it. Under the influence and simply had been drinking are two entirely different things.

Seize the cellphones.

Who picked up the tab?
I know alligator arms didn’t drop...he left his wallet in his other pants, which is why he may or may not have produced a D/L on scene, another overused traffic court excuse I might add.

The only evaluation is to keep tabs on all the district personnel transfers from here on.

Sounds like Eddie was celebrating the Rialmo verdict.

Totally stupid statement. He justified Rialmos actions and sent a letter to COPA stating that and disagreeing with COPA. With Johnson and COPA disagreeing, Police Board put the decision in the hands of one of their members, Ms Delgado and that got the case going and the bullshit 7-0 to fire him.
That’s how it went down

Bull-shit. Given what is known, how it was handled by CPD is understandable but if any other department was involved he would have been given a field sobriety test at the very least. And everybody knows where it would’ve went from there because he was drunk.
