If you are healthy and with no issues consider yourself extremely lucky. It’s wrong to infer that he was incapacitated due to anything else. My prayers are with him and his family.

Sup said he felt lightheaded. Beat cars checked on him, he was fine and went home. Whats so wrong about that? Just retire. Go to the ER.
The community always Demands to see body cam/dash cam tapes immediately after one of their sacred cows get killed. The Tax-Payers of this city now Demand to see these tapes!

Just sayin...there wasn't ever a time that I "happened" upon a P.O. that was "in distress" (and there were many) that I didn't do everything they "would allow me to do to help them out". Some were appreciative , some difficult but in the end appreciative, and there were those who no matter how hard I tried believed since there were on the job wouldn't help me help them. I know things are definitely different these days but the best way is keep it to yourself. Once you get on that radio and start requesting supervisors and the like it's over. This is wrong.. The man has a myriad of health issues that’s been well publicized. He’s hypertensive, has kidney disease and is a transplant recipient . If you are healthy and with no issues consider yourself extremely lucky. It’s wrong to infer that he was incapacitated due to anything else. My prayers are with him and his family.

Where was his driver, Mike? What supt does not have a driver? If he was ill then take him to a ER? Why wait till the next day to seek medical attention? I do not wish evil on him but this event stinks. There is only one reason to avoid a ER and let him drive home. He needs a driver in his short future as a supt.

Secretary of State needs to revoke his drivers license immediately. By his own admission he is a danger to the roadways.
He is a danger to himself and the community. FOID card needs to be revoked. ISP needs to pick up his card and all of his weapons.

There was body cams. Release them, all of them, there should be absolutely no reason for anyone on that scene to not have there body cam on and recording, audio and visual. Although if the Superintendent calls for a Internal Investigation, that would prevent any footage from being released. The open investigation would supersede the FOIA request. This would buy the transparent Sup some time to figure out his next move. It is all the perfect crime, watch where those responding POs land. Just another day at CPD.. Any PO in the same situation would have been required to blow or go to the hospital, that is required. The cover up has begun.
This is how it was in the old days and how it should be now, take care of each other.

Not all body camera footage is FOIA-able. There are conditions it must meet such as a complaint associated with the footage or use of force. My guess since it was simply a "medical condition" it will be subject to privacy laws.
My vote is for 11-501. Classic bullshit story. Slumper. Near STOP sign. Nighttime stop. Almost home. No doubt about it. Drinking despite health issues. Drinking with meds contraindicated with alcohol? Significant Risk! 30 hours of treatment, VIP Panel, two years court supervision. Next case...

If he was drunk I should’ve let him drive away with your benefit of the doubt so he can crash later and possibly maim or kill your loved one(s).
All those on scene need a number for allowing him to drive himself home! He could have passed out again. Since when do we let the driver dictate OUR CPD response. If he was having a medical issue than an ambulance should have immediately been called—we all know why one wasn’t called—it’s all a coverup! He has fired officers for alleged coverups! Now he has compromised all the officers and white shirts on the scene. Step down EJ before your actions get more people fired!
Eddie Johnson is 60 year's old. He should retire. He's in poor health, bad kidney's, high blood pressure, and overweight. The man should retire. I sure would if I had all these medical issues.

He did have a driver. He said he sent him home so he could be with his young family. He must have been been reading SCC regarding all the complaints about the department not caring about officers families
Fat Head has not paid for a meal in years. Ultimate short arm, that or belly gets in way trying to reach for check.

Wrong, he was a Police Officer. He lost that title pretty much immediately after he was named Superintendent. Whether it was Lt test scam, his stripping of officers for doing their job, his constant lies to the department, his involvement in the St. Laquan shooting, the blatant cronyism and nepotism promotions, especially all of the merits made under him (all his Robin Robinson and other “director” picks) the list goes on and on. The damage he has caused this department is not repairable. He knew he was sinking this ship and couldn’t care less. As long as he was keeping the south and west sides happy by taking care of the boys and all his ignorant entitled females.

The Superintendent, if he is innocent of DUI, should have followed policy BY THE BOOK, PERIOD. No amount of after-bullshit now is going to remove doubt in the mind of a logical public. If he’s disgraced, that’s on him for not following protocol.

Eddie Johnson just three the responding unit from 009 under bus when he spoke to the mayor, they will definitely get suspended. Although there is no criminal evidence against him he practically confessed to being DUI because drinking alcohol while on certain medication aggravates the effects of the medication. His lying makes him look incompetent; irresponsible and a risk to the public. It is best that he retires immediately before she things get worse for him. The police cannot investigation itself there must be an outside investigator doing the investigation. I imagine the body cam footage being erased at this very moment. Watch this entire thing get swept under the rug THE CHICAGO WAY.

If I pulled some of the shots that he has done, I'd be a drunk too. The dead giveaway: no ambulance or squad car to hospital ER.
He was intoxicated and the p.o's on the scene will be fired when the investigation is concluded.

Capt. Ed Griffin. Another Bridgeport clouted politician.
By no means am I a saint. But I do have a serious MORAL dilemma with this incident.
1. Our Supt took a kidney voluntarily from his perfectly healthy son who donated to help his father. Perfectly understandable. I personally would not have accepted it, but that's another conversation.
2. As a transplant recipient he knows that ALCOHOL CONSUMPTION STARTS REJECTION OF SAID ORGAN. So essentially he is killing his son's/his kidney by drinking.
3. He is driving the Official Supt car, after having some drinks.
4. Then falls asleep/has a medical emergency. Questionable
5. Then this big conundrum of what happened and our police response to it.
I believe this has caused a huge, hell I don't even know what to call all of it. (BOONDAGGLE, SHIT-STORM, I DUNNO WHAT THE FUCKS GONNA HAPPEN OR COVER-UP)
Drinking and driving, didn't blow..... Beat cop will be fired for not testing him, Sgt will get a month, Lt and rest of the white shirts will just be told to shut up. IAD will find it was a medical and Eddie will resign. The real question is, which civil rights warrior will become the next Sup?
Retire now. This is embarrassing for the CPD, a continuing downward spiral due to incompetence at all levels.
