This department is toxic and they keep us trapped in this city. The measly 70-100k they pay us is worth about 50k anywhere else in Illinois. You guys have no idea how much we’re fooled here. You’re paying 300-400k for a 3 bed 2 bath built in the early 1900’s. The city taxes your measly pay check and gets a large sum of that money back. It’s like a boomerang and it’s the only reason they keep us here. You’re trapped here. They own your ass. They own your money, they own your time, they own your ass. You can’t strike and the FOP is less than useless. Our pension is abysmal. Groot fucks us every step of the way. The poor welfare defendants and illegals burn your taxes to the ground causing our taxes to go up and up and up. Guys the solution is pretty simple but I’m not going to spell it out for you. I saw the writing on the wall 20 years ago and I am glad I called it early on. I started a home-based business in my spare time and it I worked it like crazy. I worked 3rd watch and did the business during the days and my RDOs. I am not here to tout my business or myself so will post anonymously but I had ZERO business experience and now have 7 employees and retired at age 49 and live in Costa Rica on the beach and do a lot of stuff remotely and come to Shitcago for summers to give my team time off.
I encourage everyone to not piss away your freetime. Do something with it and quick fucking watching Netflix when you are sitting in the squad car with freetime. Do something else. People laughed at me when I was in Public Housing back in 1998 starting my side business telling me it wouldn't work. Well I am 51 years old and have been gone for two years now and just come here for the laughs now and laugh at those some guys who are still stuck on the job today. I never made it past P.O. and my business will gross close to $1M this year.
My point is not to stay until 63 and that horseshit excuse about "I've kid young kids or kids in college" is another poor excuse. I have an 8 year old and I am raising her here in Costa Rica on the beach and she loves it.
Guys don't waste your time watching Netflix. Do something productive with your downtime and set an end goal so you can do 20 and get out.
They think the “YouTube Effect” was bad, wait for the “Rialmo Effect” to filter through. Trying to get police now to do anything will be like trying to get a WW1 soldier to charge across No Man’s Land to assault a German machine gun next.
CTU member here. Do not do shit. It isn’t worth it and a lot of us (not crazy CTU members) really, really, really understand the bullshit you guys are faced with. Our leadership has been hijacked, and so many of us are sick and tired of being maligned by these little social media celebrities who, no doubt, have their eyes on becoming future office holders.

You're correct, but who's to blame here? Have the senior officers shown them the way? So many people with seniority are out there bringing in stuff to get their VRI numbers. In a whole lot of roll calls there is no camaraderie. It's every man for himself. Even on this blog all anyone does is talk shit about each other. We haven't made a truly big or effective showing of unity or defiance in the 17 years I've been on this job, so where in the hell would the young guys learn it from. Plus the bosses don't take care of anyone like they used to. It's a very "fuck you, get me my numbers or you're bounced" attitude. So many coppers both new and more senior, are just trying to get through to the end without incident. We can't just keep blaming the new guys. This job has been crumbling for years.

At every job unless a 19B an RD should be generated. Grab to-go food on your way back to the station. Eat and type up the report. There's very little liability eating and typing up non-criminal reports at the station. Usually takes about 2 hours from start to finish. There's only 9 hours in the tour, so do the math.

well, this is terrifying
Been out of town for a while, but let’s see if I got it right. The officer shoots a fellow coming at him with a bat, while the guy’s father who called the police locks himself in a secure toilet because he is in fear of his life. Meanwhile the frightened dad calls the downstairs neighbor lady asking her to let the police in while he stays safe upstairs in the toilet. The fellow with the bat is said to be mentally ill and may be further impaired by drugs. No one knows at the time. The mentally ill guy refuses all lawful police orders to drop the bat and advances on the officer who subsequently shoots him. One of the shots passes through the offender and strikes the helpful neighbor and she subsequently dies of her injuries. Dad, the initial victim in this matter, is still upstairs in the toilet and is safe. The Police Board fires this brave officer for apparently mis-judging the seriousness of the situation.
In another incident, an exempt member of the department takes at least ten officers away from their duties on various dates to babysit his autistic son, costing the city approximately 150 thousand dollars. The exempt then lies during the investigation and is suspended for 30 days. The exempt does not declare the ‘extra benefit’ that is not available to other department members as income but receives a ‘real value’ benefit-Tax Free. This subject is not fired by the Police Board.

Thanks for your input and I'm sorry. But you are absolutely correct, there's nothing we can do for the citizens. Every non-clouted CPD officer is in self-preservation mode. Hopefully the plague does not spread to the suburbs. For protection buy a gun Sir and promptly leave the scene should you ever need to use it to defend your life.
Lightfoot was elected by 30% of the vote. The handwriting on the wall for her was limited based on her abilities and more importantly Preckwinkle was a worse choice. She never gained control of the city and body politic. Now clearly she is losing control of the City. Her reform has brought chaos and confusion. She may a once have been a federal attorney but who cares. She is the Mayor of Chicago and under her leadership things have gotten worse and its spiraling down the drain.
Her Police Dept. is no loner functioning at an efficient level due to gross mismanagement and poor leadership. Neither she nor Ed know how to be an effective leader. Nothing complex here just poor leadership and no support to/for the police. The police are acting accordingly to survive in the chaos generated by City Hall. You make the job more difficult for us and we react accordingly. Ed will be gone soon. Lori will have a failed legacy and leave after her first term. We will still be here. We may well have equally incompetent leaders but maybe betters ones. In the meantime, people will be taxed into fleeing the city and citizens will continue to be victimized. We will give them the service they want and deserve.

5 days till closing in Tennessee, 30 days before being officially moved there, 327000 got me 2900 sq ft home, built in the 97 and it comes with no neighbors and 16 wonder acres of land to do as i want.... and for a whooping 1020.00 a year in property tax that’s a 8 grand saving right off the bat. Oh and they don’t tax your pension there not is there income tax. Quality of life or toxic Chicago and IL. Yup see ya

clench your fist , raise your voice and advance toward a police officer and you would be charged with aggravated battery ,resisting arrest and spend a few hours in the ER before going to county . Once at cook county the guards would be informed to use extreme caution because offender was a police fighter .
you know how that ended , story with a happy ending , not to many big mouth , police fighters .
today a person attempts to run you over , threaten you with a knife ,baseball bat , even a gun and the media and activists want to hang you . Exception , if you are a political merit appointed black sergeant and OFF DUTY and for some reason you shoot n UNARMED special needs black child , never call 911 for help , not in fear of death or great bodily harm , you keep your job , no protests by fake reverends , activists or black politicians because BLM is only a myth to harm good police officers and community watch officers protecting themselves from death or great bodily harm .
