Contrast / Compare

Who is more valued?

Seems like CPD produces a better product across the board.

UPDATE: As someone helpfully reminded us, add 365 days to that total for the PBPA contract.

Dont forget to add 2 1/2 months off during the summer. All Holidays off. 2 weeks off during the winter, Christmas and New year included. 1 week off in April. With a 8 to 4 schedule that includes weekends off. Ummmm not sorry, they are being ridiculous.

In all fairness, if the teachers had a contract like the FOP, the teachers would produce astounding academia success. What was I saying? The teachers could each make $100K and still produce a 60% graduation rate with the student body. But hey, it is all about the children and the teachers are so deserving of their 80% pension and 3% COLA compounded.

The CTU is the devil in disguise. The CTU does this to Chicago and us taxpayers every time their contract comes up, for as long as I can remember, and no one ever stands up to them. They have been enabled for decades. A 16% raise is very very generous and the large majority of Americans have never received such a generous raise. My company has never given me a raise like that and I still come to work every day. What kind of message is the CTU sending to our kids? That if you don't get your way, you just walk off your job with no repercussions? I have friends that are police officers and firemen and they have been coming to work for over two years without a contract. Why can't the teachers do the same? They have a great job!

Unfortunately the CTU will continue to do this to Chicago forever unless they are stopped. I believe Lightfoot may have to give them an order to return to work by a specific date or they will be fired. The city can not afford what they are asking and they know it. When does it end? I believe 70-80% of them will return to work. They have invested heavily in their careers through education/degrees, certifications, time, benefits, and passion, and will be giving it all up if they refuse to come back to work. They will not be able to find teaching jobs in the already staffed suburbs and they certainly won't enjoy the salary and benefits they enjoy in Chicago. They will come back to work. They have way too much to lose. This is the only way to end their strong-arming city hall and the taxpayers. Lightfoot has been nothing but professional and (unfortunately) too generous. While on the other hand Jesse sharkey and the CTU have acted unprofessional and antagonistic. The CTU is acting as though they are city hall. They act as though they should control Chicago’s finances. We didn't elect Jesse Sharkey. Also, parents do not believe the CTU when they say, "it's about the children." Frankly, it's insulting.

Listen to John Kass’s podcast from October 15 about the CTU. Great piece! Very informative on the sad history of the CTU and city hall.

What a DISGRACE! The Chicago teachers have already hit the lotto and they’re not happy with 16%? While knowing the city is in a massive budget deficit and losing population and enrollment? How insulting to the taxpayers. They should have taken the incredible deal. CPS is by far the biggest drain on the city’s finances. The mayor should pull the 16% off the table and tell them to pound sand. Start from scratch.

Do the graphic over, make it dynamic (like heyjackass) and embed at the top of the SCC page. EZ to do with DB on backend.

Yeah, the Police do produce a better product but it is the teachers that produce the product that the Police have to deal with. The teachers don't get all the credit though that they have to share with the community. It all comes down to the fact that they have a Union and you have a collection of Chicago Way political hacks. They stick together and the you have been divided by those with a phone call and those that don't, and a collection of leaders that couldn't lead a one car funeral. Until you get your shit together don't expect anything to change.

Negotiating outside of arbitration may be a preferable answer. Of course some guys might believe that’s nonsense, just look at Seattle. It’s not all apples to apples, but, what arbitrator would give an 18% raise to a metropolitan police department which makes them the highest paid cops in their state? The arbitrator would likely settle for something that both sides dislike in the middle. Those negotiations don’t get done by incessantly harassing your opposition. And pay attention to the fact that Seattle’s gov doesn’t “like” their police force either. True politics is boring, tedious, and lengthy. I think our union is playing their cards right by playing them slowly.

This is a dangerous game to play and comes across a bit petty. Your pension information is incorrect. It’s also missing the raises teachers haven’t gotten for unpaid furloughs I haven’t really seen a raise in years. It also doesn’t include that we don’t get reimbursed beyond $250 for work supplies we need to do our jobs. I spend thousands a year. It also doesn’t include that teachers need continuing education to keep our jobs and don’t get any education reimbursement. It’s also missing that teachers don’t just teach but also need to be the nurses and social workers and everything else our students experiencing trauma need. I support all of us getting a fair contract 💯 you all should too.

The CPS and teachers suck. Keep in mind that Daley the first took money from our pension fund during the late 60’s and used it to give the teachers a raise and ended the strike. The scum teachers are use to getting whatever they ask for. Our pension is now the personal piggy bank of the Daley’s and their cronies. Can’t probably get away with funding teacher raises or raises to the CTA which was also done by the first asshole Daley.

The bullshit they were teaching my kid was amazing. Complete change of American history, teaching about John Burge. Not able to control the class. In my daughter's words, "it al sucked, daddy"
It is hard to make the private school tuition and live in Chicago, but I will give it all up so my daughter learns and is taught to think for herself. There is nothing I love more than her.
Turn down 16% with all of the time off and turning out the shitty product that they graduate?
Fuck the greedy teachers. Do them like Reagan did the Flight Controllers. Return to work or hit the street. Lightfoot, show us your balls!

CPD will not get any media coverage or sympathy.
24/7/365, around the clock 8.5 hour participation, weekends, holidays, cancelled days off, targets of all sorts, climate elements of cold, wind, rain, snow, heat and all under the management of complete idiots.
FOP can post as much if they want.
Nobody in the media brings up our delayed negotiations other than Groot saying there’s no money and CPD needs cutbacks and reform.

CPS violates their own Code of Ethics by locking The Kids out of an education.
What do wages have to do with The Kids anyway?
They’re On Strike mainly over wages, everything else are mere bargaining chips.
Plenty of people get second jobs if they need more money.
94% of the CPS voted to Strike and less than 1% show up to picket and none volunteer to tend the kids still allowed to hangout in the classrooms.

I hear they want to limit how many charter schools that can operate, yet they’re complaining that their class sizes are too big.
They’re picketing TIF-rich Lincoln Yards. I expect they wanted that TIF money like Rahm gave them for their last Contract. Though new hires do contribute I believe 9% to their pension.

GrootLoafer claims she has no choice but to raise taxes if broke IL doesn’t foot the bill for their Contract.
GrootLoafer wants to come out as the hero and needs someone to bail her out.
GrootLoafer is so far out in the shit field and is sinking in deeper.
GrootLoafer has a big problem with Mr.Man telling her what and how she should do things, that being Sharkey, Rahm or JaeBae Prigster.
GrootLoafer went on to say last week how tragic and dangerous it will be for The Kids if they’re not in school.

One Term JB might toss her a bone if there’s an amicable endorsement(s) for 2020, like KmmmFxxxUp.
An idle devil PrickWrinkle says no Cook Co tax increase (yet) is on the sidelines laughing.
Making GrootLoafer look so bad, dysfunctional and incapable and she know it.

Stay Fetal.
Let CTU-CPD play their hand.

Chicago schools are a national laughingstock -- I defy you to find a single dollar spent by CPS that provides honest value to their served community. And their political indoctrination of students is an obscenity.

While CPD has its tradition of public intoxication by Superintendents as well as other issues, there are a lot of hardworking cops in Chicago that are doing their best in the conditions they find themselves in.

You can send him an email, but don't expect him to track stuff that there is no way of him tracking. Where are you supposed to find the student status of every victim? If its that easy to track, why don't you do it?

Its not like they're being shot during school hours when they normally attend school every day. The strike has nothing to do with that.
