I was just walking the baby back to sleep and thinking, I think the wave of coppers being hired that were OIF/OEF is over. That's wild to me. Stay frosty boys.

Saw midway with wife and sons... my kids were amazed by America’s resolve to fight evil. Second my dad was a naval aviator from 1952 to 1974. He flew missions in the Korean War and did 2 tours of Vietnam. He later on got a job for US Airways after retiring from the military. I am an Iraq war veteran 2003

I remember coming back to the world in 1970 and seeing our anti-war protesters who seemed to think we were the ass holes! Called us tools of the fascist government, etc. when they were the real tools of the communist bastards we were sent to fight. Thanks to all these bill ayers wanna be punks that went into education, we have to suffer another generation of these pinko shitbrained sjw useful idiots.

God bless every serviceman/servicewoman who is now serving or who has ever served to keep America strong and FREE!
The selflessness and courage they display each and every day is what keeps us all safe here on our homeland.
There are no words to thank you enough for what you do, or for what you sacrifice.
And to those who are now veterans, a special thank you for all you did, all you gave, and to your families who sacrificed
much, which has at times, meant the ultimate sacrifice.

Many of us served honorably and upon return, joined the CPD. We have seen the Department fall into chaos, mismanaged, lacking leadership and ruined by corrupt practices like merit and cronyism. We have been exposed to and experienced excellent leadership and small unit cohesion in getting the job done. Coming on board to the corruption and incompetence in the supervision and mismanagement by the previous Superintendent(s) and top staff of 13,000 police personnel is staggering. The political hacks running this Dept. is borderline criminal.

Maybe Mr. CHiPs can remove and eliminate some of the dead wood and their wasteful duplication during his limited stay in Chicago. Overall the Department is well educated, diversified and dedicated to its mission. Vets can and will assist the new interim Superintendent to release its untapped potential and restore the Dept. to respectability again.

How about it Mr. CHips, we need help. We know the difference between a good organization and what we have here. Can you deliver respectability to the Department and the citizens of Chicago. CPD Vets and the rest of the Thin Blue Line, Thank You.

Happy Veterans Day everyone!
Also I have a question....

Does taking the sergeant exam count as a day of work? If I’m 3rd watch do I still have to come in for work after the test in the morning? Or does the test count as a tour of duty.

With this cancel snowflake culture we’re in, I’m really surprised that we actually still celebrate this holiday. God bless all veterans. If this country would have had to depend on the youths we have now to save the world, we’d all be lampshades.

Thank you all veterans, you are more brave than me..... it’s sad that a post about merit, our incompetent Superintendent and his embarrassing command staff and Lightfoot will get hundreds of comments (all well deserved by the way) but a chance to thank our hero veterans probably won’t get 50.

Thank, all you Vets, from most if my family.I'll be honest for some of them, this day means squat, except for it being
a day off. Well, to put it plainly.fuck them.

We also have a Marine vet in our
our large family who was awarded
a purple heart from combat in Iraq
and has 100% disability.

I will give him a shout out from all
us here who "reside" on SCC.

Thank you Veterans for keeping our country free. If u get a chance look up Prager University’s video of “who should win the Noble Peace Prize. It specifically states that the US Military should and why. It’s a very thought provoking no brainer video to me. God Bless

Proud member of a family with many veterans going back to our great great grandfather, who upon arriving in Chicago, joined the Irish Regiment to fight for the North in the Civil War. He was injured and died years later in a veteran’s home.

Anyone else wear a POW bracelet in the early 1970s? Mine was for Cmdr Cole Black from Lake City, Minn. He survived a plane crash in Vietnam to die in a plane crash 41 years later at the age of 74. In between he shaped the perspective and careers of young naval aviators as a Capt at Naval Base Miramar. A hero’s life well lived.

“During my tour in prison, I can say that I have come to know some of the
greatest guys in the world. We have known humiliation together; we have known
compassion together; we have suffered together and now that we are home we
once again, know the joy of being free and being in our great country. For me
the thoughts of returning to America and to loved ones inspired me throughout
my captivity. Even when you seem to be losing all else no one can take away
the precious memories you may have of the loved ones you left behind, the joys
you knew as a boy, the beauty of the country you will one day return to, and
all the kind things your father and mother have done for you.“

Well said, Capt. Black. RIP

Funny. As a combat vet, the fear wasn’t dying, but getting permanently fucked-up physically as in paralyzed, burned, loss of limb(s), etc. This job there is no such fear (for me at least) of getting physically fucked-up, but getting fucked as in loss of liberty, treasure, job, etc.

And you have enough time on the job to be taking the sgts test?
Better idea for you. Take the test, then go to work on the 3rd watch and put in for OT(time and a half for that 8 hour tour)
