We Hadn't Thought of This

Someone is a big thinker....and a heckuva shit-stirrer:
  • Don’t worry because there is talk that Beck will be staying on for some time. The Mayor is trying to see how to keep him on as Director of Public Safety. He will be in charge of CPD, CFD and OEMC. She can eliminate the $260k of the Super, $200 of the cfd commissioner and the $175 of the Director of OEMC.
Now that would be something, and we're chagrined we hadn't thought of it especially in light of the PSHQ designation for 35th and Michigan rolled out in the not-to-distant past.

Is there any actual ordinance against it?

Chicago called and Charlie balled.
Kahuna caught the big wave on this one. I did feel that the
original patch-in job would be sort of redundant: fix things,
leave, things revert back. Now we could possibly get a whole
overhaul, which makes sense considering his administrative
background. Why waste it on CPD? There's a lot of fat in
Fire. How many "Real Estate Novelists" are working @CFD?
Fire is like an endowed writers chair at a University. They
settle in, get seniority, then go about their life's work. Kindle
warriors, bloggers, readers of the Great Books. If you ran
an FBI 'crime family' flow chart on each agency, it would look
like a map of London streets: "spaghetti" as one former
resident once told me. That's a whole position in itself.
Weed out the rats, cockroaches, and merits. Send them
clear across town if need be. We're tired and demoralized
from being held down by the 1%.

She isn't going to eliminate three upper echelon, big money spots and put three heavy-duty democRATS out of a job. She very well might add a Director of Public Safety, but layoffs or eliminations are for the little and/or unconnected people. Layoffs are not for the heavy hitters and the mere mention of saving money for a democRAT is like kryptonite to Superman.

Besides that title and the salary might still be in existence. Wasn't Cortez Trotter the Director of Public Safety for a few minutes?

Isn’t Groot rolling all the HR, IT and admin for CPD, CFD and OEMC into HQ as part of that new designation? It would make sense for one person to be in charge. A civilian with no ties to the city at that...

It’s the 1st, 16th, 22nd and Uniform Allowance and Duty Availability each x 4. That said, please leave me the fuck alone. I’ll do my job and I promise not to create unnecessary work or inconvenience for anyone else.

Pretty simple rules to get you to the finish line.

False. Lewin will be in charge of this new oemc merged catastrophe. After running the entire tech bureau into the ground here, who could possibly be better suited for the job.

Reports of his demise may be premature.
We've all seen the photo of that man in a suit holding up the
Chicago Daily Tribune with the headline Dewey Defeats Truman.
That guy was Harry Truman.

No old white man gone get that job even if it be true. Play to your base, Larry. Al Sharpton ain't happy about Dermutt and he sure wouldn't be happy about the west-coast horse trader stealing a position from a qualified minor-ority.

This is what it will look like.
Director of public safety.
One liaison to the CPD, CFD, OEMC in charge (Superintendent, etc remain in place)
One driver for each of the above
Two secretaries for each of the above
Miscellaneous relief staff.
And don’t forget cars for everyone.
Did I miss anything?

This also sounds like it could be coming along as she has also decided to use the same medical, payroll, HR, grant writing, and a few others. All working at the same location. PSHQ 35th St.

GMac would consider the spot, said so himself.
SpecialEd was this close to a nice spot but celebrating too soon put the kibosh on that shit.

Don’t be surprised if old schoolers like Ramsey, Hillard or Chollie Williams didn’t get phone calls, even Annie Grannie Clampett.
Not many progressives in the LEO bidness, plenty of pandering yes ma’am chumps, but no commies.
Groot is going to install a civilian, ACLU might have some interested in establishing reform.

But tolerant lifer West Coasters...they don’t relo to Chicago, not for $300k.
They don’t even know what a Canada Goose coat is and rather try to step around piles sidewalk ploppies than trudge through slushy salted ice and snow. Even TheOprah packed up and left, hasn’t regretted or looked back since.

Magnum C.B. will be on the last train for the Coast very shortly.

If money is no object (like experience and staying alert behind the wheel) then Groot could seek to appoint a struggling, unemployable, yammering, scheming money grabbing grifter and self proclaimed social justice martyr.
Certainly fitting if there’s any has-been, washed up sports figure or French actor that’s anti-police, is being solicited a very nice offer to run the CPD when Grand Master Slumps finally gets his backfield in motion and leaves in January.
This town could use and welcomes another loser.

True that's why Horse-Trough has to be getting more in some special deal no one is to know about. At his age coming to the cold of Chicago? Got to be more to the story. Unless he fancies himself Superman Chief of the USA and it was his massive celebrity type ego that made him say yes. No phone booths for Chuck to change into his Superman outfit. Perhaps he can use the Tahoe.

As far as progressive nutters in law enforcement, Grannie, and the Portland and Seattle chiefs would be a good start. Perhaps that one in Atlanta too. That nut case in Dallas would fit in great with Le Groot and Company. Maybe more of them in the command staff of these bigger departments in the demoncratic shitholes she might look at too. Like a second in command or something if all the boxes match. Extra points for the folks that prescribe to the theory of 200 or so genders.
