Great Job Officers

  • Two Chicago police officers were hailed as heroes on Thursday, credited with saving a child from a burning car last week. Officers Ramon Curet and Raul Sandoval were working the night shift in the 15th District last Friday, when they got a call for a crash in the Austin neighborhood.

Police said a Range Rover was heading west on Washington Boulevard around 3:10 a.m. on Friday when it struck a Toyota sedan that was headed north on Cicero Avenue. The Toyota flipped onto its roof, and caught fire.

Two adults and three children –ages 10, 11, and 12 – were inside. Everyone was able to get out, except for one boy who was stuck in the backseat.  Officers Curet and Sandoval arrived a short time later. “There’s people around the car, saying that there’s someone still inside,” Sandoval said. Curet said Sandoval went into the car to cut the child’s seatbelt and get him out of the burning wreck.
Fantastic job Officers.

God was with both of you when you saved that boy's life. Unfortunately I wasn't as blessed and witnessed two teenagers die before my eyes in a similar situation, something you regret and never forget as a first responder...

No judgement here, but I cannot remember a single time during my youth when my parents had me or my brothers in a vehicle at 3am. Maybe there was a 1am arrival when we were coming back from a family gathering. And I know you cannot control which dumb fuck is going to drive their SUV into the side of the car carrying your family. Okay, lots of judgement. Good job with the quick rescue, officers.

Despite everything happening around them and to them, despite a national disgrace as a Superintendent and a mayor that openly hates law enforcement, despite a CCSA who should herself be in prison for outrageous malfeasance in office, and despite a media that lies in an organized attempt to destroy society, these officers went into a neighborhood full of people that irrationally hate them and saved a life.

Well done Officers.

I’ve got your answer. Exact thing happened to me. Your wasting your time calling their phone number. It’s not being answered or manned. As for a paper application they stopped that over a year ago. I had an application on my computer, filled it out and mailed it in Was returned saying they are no longer accepting paper application. The only way to apply is online and one good thing for you because it sounds like you have problems with a computer is they didn’t require uploading a recent pic. Think they used previous one. Sorry but that’s the only way.
You will get the answering machine for ever and I thought I could sneak in paper application. Good luck and enjoy retirement

Since you are retired, the best course of action would be to call a real estate agent and move to a free State. They are trying to tell you something here, heed the signals.

Yes, they actively discourage gun ownership and will confiscate them before too long, Illinois Lawmaker Julie Morrison is on camera saying that the State would love to take all guns. Sell the house while you still can.

Retired, what the hell are you still in Illinois for. Must be Democratic voters or dumb only two valid for reasons for staying that cess pool. Don't need FOID cards in almost all other states. Wise up and get out. Now that your retired plenty of time to come back to town to visit any family if that is your reason for staying. So when the State Democrats finally get what they all want and make it illegal for you to own a gun what are you going to do. First step is the FOID nonsence then high fees to apply for CCW, high tax on ammo and soon a yearly gun tax for every weapon you own. Don't laugh will happen very soon.

Great Job...officer's, being at the right place at the right time. I remember working 10-99, and I was enroute to drop off two curfew violators. As I'm shinning my spotlight to check the address, I saw something sparkling in the someone home doorway. I Continue down the block, dropped of the curfews and then I doubled back to check into that sparkling door. It turned out to be an electrical fire. I went on the air, called for CFD. I was banging on the doors/windows and finally someone opened the door. The home was full of black smoke. I got eight people out. As fire arrived that front doorway finally caught fire. Fire made a huge mess to contain it. I was the only squad on scene my 30 Sector Sergeant arrived and the first thing out of his mouth was "don't even think about a Life Saving Award". I talked to another Supervisor and she said nobody went to the Hospital it's not going to go anywhere Kid. That was about 18 years ago. I never forgot those 2 jag off.

– Same here last year. Had to renew and system wouldn’t recognize my DL, FOID #’s. So what I did was create a New Account Log In , online. Not sure about that mail-in process anymore. Forget about calling, easier to drive down to Springfield for an in person Q&A...if they can guarantee a simple answer. LOL. They are backed up like the sec of state new DL program.
Anyway, re-create an account ID online since things in the system changed. My application was renewed and back in my wallet with a new photo in about a month.

- True dat. Ever notice in the opening credits that the rear windshield was removed.
Y'all know Wally, Eddie & Beav were doing drive-bys, and conveniently able toss out they’guns and MacDonalds bags when fleeing on the 405.
Used plastic wrap to seal up the opening to keep in the blunt smoke when needed.

In regards to the officer trying to call to renew his FOID , I also spent 2 weeks trying to call the number they provided and got nowhere , from there I tried doing it online and ran into some difficulties, which I’m sure were my fault :) .

So what I did next was to get 2 of my good friends , also retired , and we took a ride to Springfield.

We spent a great day sharing great times and stories from days long gone , shared a great meal and in general had a fabulous day .

In regards when we got there , the building is as tight as a drum to get into and you do not get passed the 1st floor , I spoke to a gentleman, behind 3 inches of glass :) , and he was as kind and helpful as anyone you’ll ever find and was in and out of there in 15 minutes.

The moral of the story is we need to spend more time with our friends instead of seeing each other at our funeral and wakes lamenting “we need to get together more often “.

Thank you all for listening to my minor pontificating and God bless you all in these trying times .
