- Federal authorities recorded phone calls of one of House Speaker Michael Madigan’s closest confidants as part of the burgeoning investigation into ComEd’s lobbying practices, two sources with knowledge of the probe told the Chicago Tribune.
Recordings of phone conversations involving Michael McClain, who lobbied for ComEd and parent company Exelon before retiring in 2016, are part of the expansive probe that has rocked the Springfield political establishment over the past several months, the sources said.
One of the sources said the recordings were made as a result of an FBI wiretap on McClain’s cellphone.
While we doubt that the feds actually got Madigan on tape (he's too wily), they are hammering on the inner circle. Is there any sort of charge for "constructive bribery" or "constructive extortion"? Something involving a RICO charge perhaps? Because with all of these indictments of the people surrounding Madigan, it's only a short hop to believing Madigan must have had direct knowledge of what was going on. How could he not?
And yes, knowledge isn't proof (and certainly not proof beyond a reasonable doubt). But Madigan might be in a position to be forced out or convinced not to run.

If my memory serves me correctly a former Black Speaker of the Illinois House son made millions with some connection to Com Ed, I believe it was a Sun Times article maybe 10 years ago. The Sunday Tribune had an interesting article on how Com Ed was able to receive those rate increases. Ninety five percent of the lobbyist were former Democratic elected officials that were able to obtain those rate increases.
I took the time to read a whole lot of articles on all these indictments and investigations. What a deep rabbit hole it is. I will say it again...this is classic RICO in every sense of the word. These people have infected every level of government. Suburb an mayors are going down. Insurance strong arming with madigans kid involved. ComEd and on and on. There is ALWAYS a tie to Madigan in one way or another. I dont care how wily this asshole is....no one is going to just go to jail for this guy. Someone is spilling their guts to be the first guy to save himself. Its a matter of time. Even the strongest web is only as strong as its weakest link. The Feds are dragging in all the weak links. This shithole state was destroyed by and is still being destroyed by this outfit. Judgement day is coming for many.

not just on a phone, but look for hidden wires inside an office or residence. When the feds hit an office with a search warrant and take documents away, they can easily plant eavesdropping devices in the rooms and computers. I hope all of these crooked bastards in Cook County and Springfield get grabbed.
Just the thought of Madigan going down makes me all warm and tingly. I can barely get around any more, but I'll find a way to go dancing in the streets when the Feds get him.

They have all that data sitting there: every phone call transcript, every bank or CC transaction, On Star /GPS, every email from every device. Every tax filing or real estate transaction. Records of every friend and relative. All the data is cross-referanced instantly by supercomputers running AI. Even Stevie Wonder could see the elephant in the room.

It might be. DSA Alderman of 25th Ward Byron Sigcho (Lopez, added after 2014 to appeal to the community) just won the election in April runoff. Unfortunately, it stuck his campaign with nearly 110k of debt. He has been holding fundraisers recently, subtly sold as “meet and greets” with different levels of donations. The first level is “community member $50.” Is this pay to play?
Sigcho also tried to make a splash by going after Danny Solis for use of his campaign for legal consul. Why do you ask?
