Good Chase
- A man was shot to death Tuesday in Little Village on the Southwest Side.
Frank Aguilar, 32, was walking about 11:30 p.m. in the 3700 block of West 32nd Street when someone in a gray SUV drove by and opened fire, Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.
He was shot in the chest and taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital, where he died, authorities said. Aguilar lived in West Englewood.
The victim was a nurse, walking with a laundry basket, and it seems the victim was a casualty of the usual drive-bys that pop up on the southwest side.

The car turned up in a pursuit Friday:
- Two people were arrested Friday after leading police on a chase in a vehicle wanted in connection with a fatal shooting earlier this week in Little Village.
The pursuit started about 11:47 p.m. in the 2300 block of South Sawyer Avenue in Little Village, Chicago police said. Illinois State Police saw the vehicle at 11:52 p.m. in the southbound lanes of Interstate 94 at 47th Street, according to a statement.
The vehicle crashed into another vehicle at 75th Street and Lafayette Avenue, and the driver and passenger were taken into custody for questioning a block away near 75th and Perry Avenue, authorities said.
The article isn't clear who was chasing - it seems like ISP picked it up - but this would be one of only two instances we'd agree with continuing pursuit, the other being someone who shot at cops.

Gang Investigations was working with the Area Central detectives and had put together a plan on this case.
Like most units in this city, GID is short on manpower, and reached out to 010 tact for additional bodies to help.
The plan seemed to have worked out well, except the vehicle was able to take off.
As things unfolded, the ISP was a godsend and provided an extraordinary amount of assistance.
Truly a great team effort by all involved, and a special shout-out to the ISP!
Damn... God speed to the victims family. Prayer 🙏 go out to u
That was some nice radio work coming over the zone.
It was refreshing to hear coppers in the mix like that being calm and getting the job done.
Instead of calling out your chase while screaming like a sorority girl on spring break, it was nice to hear minimal talk on the radio, cool under pressure, not cutting out transmissions or stepping on each other, and overall just acting professionally.
While chasing a vehicle for MURDER.
Tact warriors on zone 10 chasing for traffic every night, I hope you were taking notes.
Outside of wanted for shooting at the police, do not chase for anything. The only reason you chase for that is a potential lawsuit is better than a potential bodybag as you may be the next cop being shot at by said asshole. Other than that, we all know that if something goes wrong during any chase, you're fucked. The decision to chase or not should not be based on the perceived social merits of the victim. The decision to chase or not should be based using a balancing test on what you stand to lose personally when things go wrong versus what you stand to gain. As I've already written, there's only one instance where that test says chase. Calling this chase a good one is hypocritical.
The Chase Policy has become very clear and simple. If it occurs in a District south of Division St and west of Damen Ave you are good to go until the crash or you run out of gas.
Shot at police? Like 003rd district when a Sgt terminated a pursuit a minute in. Police vehicle was hit by a .45 caliber while attempting to curb a vehicle. Then wanted the UCR to be criminal damage to property. Going to IAD was a good fit for him.
Um, sorry but I disagree. If the car they were chasing would’ve crashed into a car full of your loved ones and killed them would you still think it was a good chase? Plus, at the time all they new was that it was most likely the car used in the homicide. What if the shooter isn’t in there anymore. Now all you got is a car used in a homicide that u chased for 15 miles putting how many lives at risk? Sorry, but for me there is only one single time I would chase, that’s if it was someone shooting at the police or similar to that situation. That’s it. They’re lucky it didn’t go south today, and when it doesn’t everything is high fives and roses, but when it does and someone dies or catastrophically injured from a chase you will always wish you would’ve just let it go.
There is no such thing as a good chase. It is 99.9% of the time never worth the risk you are putting the innocent public in to chase these fools.
010 district tact started the chase, ISP joined in on the fun. They came over the air and said the vehicle was clocked at over 115mph at one point. It was great work by all involved. It’s a shame nothing will come of it. They’re driving around in a car used in a homicide. But there’s no way to prove they committed the homicide. Even if the gun they had matched the ballistics, it still won’t matter. NOW, we all know these are the guys who did it, but with the CCSAO nothing short of the guy saying in court “yes I knowingly and unlawfully discharged this firearm in a wreckless manner with the intention of taking that mans life” will matter. Good police work, but per usual, for nothing. Glad you guys are all okay, you did a great job.
That nurse worked at Misericordia taking care of some of the most vulnerable citizens in all of Chicago. There is no hell nor any punishment too severe for the piece of shit who killed him. May God welcome Frank into heaven with open arms, and may his memory be eternal.
There has been an SUV tooling around Chicago and
shooting at random people. The owners keep changing
the color to throw police off the trail. Call that guy Leo.
He's real good at finding these freeway shooter cars.
Man seems to have a nose for it.
To 12:15 post are you trying to say while your all planning the ISP did the work? If so say tah instead of touting all that planning and no action.
Let's see if the chase clears the review process. It doesn't matter anymore how good the arrest was, if you violated policy even the slightest during the chase, they're gonna ding you. Remember, we don't have a "chase policy". We have a "NO chase" policy.
We’re getting closer and closer to that embarrassing 500 murdered number...
There is no such thing as a good chase. News conference please.
If I find any of my loved ones hanging around 47th and Lafayette, they won't need a car to crash into them.
All's well 'when' it ends well
We got lucky no one was seriously injured or killed
It doesn't always end that way
Kudos to all involved
Stay Safe
There you have it. 32 yr old male nurse with laundry basket
@11:30PM. Not exactly the "high life" of the medical
profession that the public pictures. Probably loaded with
stundent loans. No in-house laundry facilities. A man just
getting by.
Nice work CPD Ohare and 016 District on the apprehension of the wanted bank robber from Rolling Meadows. He tossed the cash out of his vehicle near Ohare.
Its a tragedy that nothing will come of this, a good person dies and the bad guy gets away all because Kim Fox and the progressives don't care, the ends justify the mean. They've been letting murders out of jail for years now.
The days of the Paletas vendor in Little Village getting a
sympathy-funded retirement account are over
Little Village is more West Side/Near West Side than Southwest Side, not that it matters anymore.
Frank was one of the Angels at Misericordia. There is justice. If not here, then in heaven. Thank you Frank, and all the Angels.

Those “refreshing” coppers with the good radio work? They were zone 10 “tactical warriors”. 010th district is zone 10 rookie. But point taken, too many out here screaming like morons when a car takes off.

This guy gets it.
If it ain’t a copper shot, run over or catastrophically injured via other means (ditto your children or family), that car AIN’T getting pursued.
Until absolute indemnity appears in our Pursuit G.O. (which it never will), your best bet is to not engage. Period. Full stop. That whole ‘Balancing Test’ thingy isn’t merely a suggestion or option.
I see how a lot of these kids drive squad cars today. For some inexplicable reason, Point A to Point B on routine patrol has to be at double the posted limits, traffic control devices and signage ignored. Tons more squads crashed / totaled than I can remember being commonplace 20, 25, 30 years ago. Somehow us dinosaurs managed to not routinely bend the old 80’s Crown Vics and box Chevys, even when unequipped with antilock disc brakes, anti-roll/stability control, current day tire technology, etc. If these cowboys and gals today can’t manage a vehicle at 40 or 50 miles an hour, they have no business trying to pilot that missile at 100+ mph.
Remember... 9 times out of 10, what you think is happening/what you’re chasing for turns out to be a completely different story at the conclusion of the incident, or the charges ultimately brought don’t justify the time, effort or risk put into it. And that GPS is going to be your worst enemy when it’s civil suit time with punitive damages coming out of YOUR hide for that pursuit-related death or disfigurement.
Posted speed limits and patrol speeds only unless a 10-1 or similar.
Get it? Got it? Good!

Not sure if delusional or just trolling. First of all, by just living in the city Chicago residents should expect to be victimized at some point. Whether victim of property crime, or forcible felony, or being gunned down while walking the dog. If that thought scares people then they should MOVE OUT. I’ll would gladly make room for the next DUMB-ASS IDIOT who’s willing to take my spot. Just pay my medical and credit me 3 years towards my pension and I’ll gladly leave with 20. Until then, Netflix is all I’ll be chasing.
I don't car chase, foot chase, stop anyone, jump fences, climb buildings, and jump buildings. Times are not the same as they once were!!!!

A demerit? Are you in high school?
So far, the occupants of that fleeing vehicle (specifically the driver) has only been charged with (felony) traffic offenses.
10 district tact runs it
captain from 10 ordered to shave off goatee
When I first came on the job,I loved the job. Case reports and arrests reports were written on paper. No body cam,no dash cam, no GPS, no tazors,no asp,no cellphones, and lucky if we had a PDT. We would leave the sergeants alone and they left us alone. How times have changed for the worst.
Many vehicles are mass produced and many vehicles look alike. You have CLOWNS in a vehicle that resembles the offenders vehicle. Do your ISR's.
