Wait, a Database?
- The Chicago Police Department on Wednesday announced a plan to create a new gang database that department officials promise will be more fair and useful, hoping to answer critics who have long complained the current version is flawed.
The new Criminal Enterprise Information System, which will officially be announced Thursday, comes after more than a year of stinging criticism, lawsuits and a scathing Chicago inspector general report that found the department’s decadeslong practice of collecting gang data to be inaccurate, racially biased and ineffective for crime reduction.
The new system will use only timely and vetted information, police leaders said. Under the new rules, there will be stricter criteria for entering names into the database, and all submissions will be checked by supervisors and police district intelligence officers, the department pledged.
There will be an appeals process for people to get off the list, and the database will be regularly purged, retaining names generally for only five years, police said. The information will not be shared with immigration officials, and access by other law enforcement agencies will require the signing of an agreement committing to that restriction as well.
Remember this when you see the records of CR's released dating back over fifty years, published and logged into (gasp!!!) a database maintained by the Invisible Institute and other leftist organizations.
A gang banger can get his name purged after five years, but fifty years after an allegation was found to be pretty much outright lies/slander and the accused has been dead for twenty years, their name is still going to be available to paint a skewed, biased picture of the CPD.

Can anyone explain what a DIO actually does and why there’s a need for two of them? Ever since that spots been created I always see people that never work the street act like that job is extremely important and Cpd wouldnt survive without them. Not once have I ever received any sort of pertinent information that could be helpful and used on the streets these gangs control.

I see this as a money-grab by the company offering to provide a “newer, and improved list.” And by the time the lawsuits start rolling in, one connected vendor or university will have already cashed the checks and gone out of business.

What we need is a database identifying all the merit and cheating members of this department so we know who not to work for. Most street coppers gave up on anti-gang investigations years ago. Naming all the pants-on-the-head, glue-eating supervisors will do more for officer safety and well-being than any half-assed gang database.

Now they remove Judge from bench and strip two deputies of badges. The comments were mocking the media and Sheriff for sensationalizing the non-story. Dart is such a clown.
And the Judge Dart turned in is one of the last few good Judges in Chicago. Tough but started 2 programs to help out addicted inmates. Dart will do anything to deflect from his incompetence. Hiring more media members will help.

The biggest problem is that it was in the contract and no one wanted to enforce it!
No offense to your dad, but the gang structure has changed immensely in the last 10 years let alone the last 30.
The media just love to print a police officers history, good or not. They even go after the retired officers. I had a civil case where the opposing attorney attempted to bring in my old disciplinary history, all not sustained or unfounded cases. The judge would not allow it

A DIO has to answer to a DC and they keep that data info to a strict HQ minimum.

That’s why they are there. Just more inside spots for those who don’t want to work the streets. Commanders put a pet there and when they leave ask the new commander to keep the pet there which they do and bring in their own pet making two

The only people this is doing good for are the programmer consulting firm paid to create this disaster. The old database pulled information from all over the place, too many sources. They are promoting the fact that other agencies will have to sign an agreement. That is nothing new the old system had that. How did that work out. Do they even have an accurate count of who has access? If they have access to Clear system they can pull gang info through there.
