- At least one academy recruit was hospitalized with flu-like symptoms Friday- possible COVID-19. Several more CPD recruits sick with the flu as of Friday afternoon. Several classes of recruits were told by a supervisor not to say anything to the media or anyone else regarding these sick classmates. Anyone coming to the academy: watch yourselves!
So a building that houses on-going learning for citywide employees, is now a possible hotbed of a transmissible virus. These employees will go there, get infected, and perhaps spread it to the farthest reaches of the city.
And the supervisors tell the recruits to keep it a secret...you know....Code of Silence and all that. Godsel, you on board with this bullshit? Morons.
UPDATE: And by the way, this wasn't leaked by a recruit, so don't waste your time looking for him or her.

Well a guy in 002 is admitted to rush as of 4 hours ago because of a severe “flu”. No confirmation that it’s covid yet but the test hasn’t been done or confirmed yet. Guy is 57 years old and is not exactly in fantastic health to begin with.. the symptoms are similar to what they say the covid symptoms are. I’m thinking that if he’s admitted then they know something else about this... watch yourselves 002.
Nothing new about the Academy. That building has been sick for years. Mold in the air vents so bad Officers uniforms in lockers have been ruined. A couple of years ago an instructor set up some of those petri dish mold tests. All showed mold in a day or 2. And don't take the elevator. The pit under it is filled with water, oil, and some kind of bacteria. It's made elevator repair people sick before.

Retired Cops Being Asked To Come Out Of Retirement Due To Pandemic
St. Louis County Police has notified retired police officers that their services will be needed in the coming weeks.
So, then any training at the academy should be suspended until further notice as well...After all, isn't the city and state trying to prevent this from spreading but yet we keep open a facility which houses the virus??? If contacted to attend a training we should have the right to say NO until this passes...FOP??? I guess the city can risk our health without questions asked.

I had in service training last night at the academy. In my 20 years on the job I’ve never seen it this bad. They didn’t cancel it. We had to use their handcuffs, weapon holsters and plastic pistols which were never wiped down prior to handing them out to us officers. A direct threat in transmitting the disease as outlined by the CDC. It is absolutely grotesque at how the bosses and fop could care less about the officers of this city that they would cage us up with closed doors in a room and then the gym to practice nonsense ‘defense’ techniques that don’t even work. I cold learn better defense techniques watching a YouTube video!!! This place is a joke hand out some damn disinfecting wipes and spray asap to all officers! Vehicles computers tabletops need to wiped down after each exposure to every officer! Oh and btw the take away from training last night was one of the instructors in her pink pointed eye glasses repeatedly stated ‘fake it til you make it’ I guess I’ll keep faking it because we cannot alert the media on the lack of response and preparedness by CPD leadership!!!

The first coronavirus victim on CPD has been identified. It’s commander Don Jerome from the 009th district. Don found out he got the virus a few days ago. He didn’t seek any help and was able to shake the virus. After a brief battle, the virus has decided to self quarantine itself for the next 14 days so we are all good for the next two weeks.
Everyone relax. View this whole coronavirus scare as a "dry run" Everyone is discovering the holes in their plans and preps. Cops calling in sick for a week or so? School cancelled?. Stores out of supplies?. All this for what everyone deep down knows is just a passing super-flu. NOW...let this be an eye opener for all those who laugh at the preppers. She said this is a good case but they are going to move to dispo as many cases as they can Monday morning including this case. A “slam dunk”.. yes, even in cook county is going to be offered probation. Good for the conviction but for a aggravated robbery of a convicted felon?? She said they can’t let these cases drag on and with this closure they can’t afford not having any cases off the docket and there will be a log jam when it reopens. They are calling dozens of cases up Monday to get rid of them reaching out to the privates and officers to make sure everyone will accept the deal. I said whatever just do what you want and leave me alone. If they pitch the offer to the defense and they take the offer the case will be called on Monday and plead out. She said her room alone already had 11 future cases over these 30 days they are going to call up and plea out Monday morning. She said every room is doing this. It’s a corona virus miracle!!!!!!

The city needs to figure out how to protect cpd families from bringing home the virus to their families. Mandatory, masks and protective gear should be worn.

Might have burned itself out and finished its cycle and a couple on a cruise the husband was hospitalized with the virus, but his wife tested negative. Disinfect your shoes. When you guys get home and in your garage, going to a have a plastic container with a half inch of bleach in it. Stand in for 10 seconds and do the 2nd. shoe. Have an old towel next to it and just rub the soles on the towel. This should wipe out any virus from walking in the station, a squad, or job. Be careful the bleach does not hit the bottom of your pants or they will be ruined.
The bleach can be diluted by doing half water and bleach.
Stay healthy and safe. The city could care less about your well being.

On a slow news Sat there should be a news conference at the FOP lodge and DEMAND from the city a new contract NOW and expose the cities lack of respect for its officers. With a pending pandemic for officers to collectively use the same rights accorded to regular citizens and NOT show up for work is our biggest bargaining chip. We cannot strike but if 90% of the department stayed home, like the government is advising,just the threat would create chaos on the south and Westsides. The Mayor hates us and could care less if we get sick or infect our families and we have to think more radically.

The flu kills tens of thousands of Americans a year. Global numbers for Covid-19 are nowhere near those numbers globally. Unless you have underlying health conditions or are elderly/infant, the usual at-risk population, you will likely be fine after flu-like symptoms. This is the media hype that has worked with phenomenal success. Now, if this were like smallpox, Ebola or the bubonic plague in terms of symptoms and mortality, I could see the mass hysteria. Let’s be honest, this is minor if not silly.

I'm a St. Louis County Officer. The retirees being called back is part of a tiered response plan to this virus.
MANY bad things would have to happen for us to consider hiring back retired Officers to backfill manpower.

Just an FYI…vinegar can be used as a HAND SANITIZER ALTERNATIVE in light of the recent shortage. If you can get past the smell, vinegar works just as well as hand sanitizer. Vinegar is an antibacterial agent that kills 99% of bacteria. It’s also nontoxic, nonpolluting, and edible. Put 5% solution of white vinegar (the concentration in the bottle from the grocery store) in a spray bottle. Spray on hands so the entire surface of your hands is wet. Rub all over, then wipe or shake dry. The strong smell of vinegar will dissipate quickly, leaving your hands clean and odor-free. But if you dislike the smell, cover it up with a few drops of lavender or lemon essential oil.
