Prosecution Rests
- Cook County prosecutors Wednesday rested their case against Shomari Legghette, the gunman who allegedly murdered Chicago Police Cmdr. Paul Bauer in 2018.
Cook County Medical Examiner Dr. Ponni Arunkumar was the final witness called by the state, and spent about an hour on the stand cataloguing Bauer’s six gunshot wounds.
Jurors saw a handful of autopsy photos that were flashed on a courtroom monitoring screen. The three aisles in the courtroom gallery reserved for Bauer’s family were empty.
Scumbag is scheduled to take the stand Thursday and attempt to excuse his murder as "self-defense." It might be good to have a strong showing Thursday in court. If you're in the building, stop by. At the very least, the family might appreciate it when this walking pile of shit spouts his lies.

Best to let him take the stand now, then to deny him that right, be found guilty, appeal, conviction reversed because he was denied the right to testify in his own defense. It happens.

Hard to believe this piece of shit wants to testify. Before the day of cameras being everywhere he would never had made it to the station
It annoys me the trial is happening 2 years later, but I get it... everyone has their chance in court.... but also angry.
For what it's worth, hold strong family, hopefully justice is delivered quickly.

OT: I would like to thank the off duty Officer that helped my wife today. By stopping in his personal vehicle after he observed my wife trip and fall. And calling an ambulance for my wife and giving her a jacket to lay on until the ambulance arrived. Thank you Office.

He has no choice. He’s going down if he doesn’t and I hope if he does testify the ASA makes a fool of the fool and his defense attorney. Another reason he will take the stand is the more you put on the record, the better your chance for an appeal
I listened to the opening statement by the state and the defense. His attorney is a blubbering idiot. Nothing would surprise me not even that animal taking the stand.
The murderer armed with a hand gun and body armor at the shooting scene is now going to tell the jury it was self defense. Another Chicago criminal with a great way of spinning the facts. It's Chicago were facts should never get in the way of a good story. Except in the media that is.

It's the "hail mary" in the criminal defense playbook. I still fully believe that the jury will convict this jagoff.
Either his lawyer is dummer a sack of hammers to allow him to do it or he has told his lawyer to STFU and put him on the stand. Or his attorney sees the preponderance of evidence against his client and does not see a downside to his testimony. If the defendant is going against the advise of his attorney that frees the lawyer from a inadequate defense charge.
News reports afternoon of March 12 indicate Kamin may not have Dirtbag testify.
In other news not in the media, a Request for Investigation was filed with the ARDC over Kamin's defenses being frivolous due to no legal or factual support for the defenses raised. Likely take the ARDC months to review and decide if charges for violation of Rules of Professional Conduct are warranted, but that's how it works.
The jag did NOT testify......all smoke and mirrors to give the jury his version, told by a crooked defense lawyer.
He was NEVER going to take the stand.....NEVER.....
The prosecution should DEMAND a new trial......or at the very least, the judge should tell that jury to completely disregard that
defense opening statement, since it was a lie.

It was a publicity stunt to get more attention to this case and more sympathy towards Legghette. ASAs would've ripped his dumbass apart and would've caught him in all his lies if he took the stand.

Sharia law always looks good compared to the law of the jungle,which is what we have in modern American big cities.

Here’s the big problem
Violent criminals, young punks are encouraged by community activists, politicians and fake reverends to disrespect, bait ,attack police officers . After police arrest these punks , the race baiters want the police held accountable. Want police to be retrained. Police are trained , you punch ,kick ,spit ,push a police officer , you get locked up , reasonable force will be used . Threat a police officer with a baseball bat ,board ,knife ,gun or and deadly weapon , you will receive a free medical exam from county medical examiner.
Maybe teach these people respect for themselves and others , obey laws , keep your legs closed , pants zipped until you can afford to raise a child . Bunch of low life people in 1/2 of Chicago.
